Bush smoked weed. Bush supports the continuing persecution of weed smokers. What an asshole.

"I wouldn't answer the marijuana question. You know why? Because I don't want some little kid doing what I tried," Bush purportedly says on the tape.

He added: "But you got to understand, I want to be president. I want to lead. I want to set -- Do you want your little kid say, 'Hey, Daddy, President Bush tried marijuana, I think I will?"'

In the tape, Bush mocks former Vice President Al Gore -- who fought him for the presidency in 2000 -- for admitting he smoked marijuana.

I read that in the paper today. It also made a mention of bush being worried that someone who saw him do coke would come forward.
So bush on drugs " Its ok for me to have done it, my dad was head of the CIA, and i was both rich and white. Buts its not ok for the mostly poor and non white people in prison."
What a double standard. Its a crime for some, but not me!

I don't know. I'm anything but a Bush supporter but the last thing I would want is him or any president thrown out of office for smoking weed. I'm thrilled that it came out, even the self righteous, right wing, dangerously religious asshats toke the herb. Maybe if it happens enough the moral minority will realize it's rediculous to judge and persecute it. Him being thrown out of office for anything but killing however many thousands of people, American and foreign, under lies and false pretenses would be just another slap in the face of justice. Sadly I fear these tapes will just improve his image by the right wingers, after all he was obviously just trying to protect the children. *rolls eyes* I don't remember for sure where I saw the statistic and i'm unable to quote sources but I'm sure I read somewhere that historically dropping bombs on people has killed more children then weed. Maybe I'm wrong.

i dont think its too hypocritical

its just like a parent who tells their kids not to do it when they smoked some when they were kids.

hes trying to keeps kids off drugs wich is very moral and good leadership, give the man a break.

EVERYONE'S A HYPOCRITE. You cannot say otherwise. Bush has perfect reasons to act like he never smoked pot, I mean, it's obvious most politicians have (and probably done some coke here and there), but who's going to be the first to challenge the authority of soccer mom's? If it wasn't illegal, then kids would think marijuana is okay, which it's not. I love marijuana, but it's not something kids should do when they're growing up. Marijuana can really mess up your memory... and the memory loss is worse than what most people make it out to be. Kids growing up don't need that. We can't just switch trains and decide, "Yeah, we lied, marijuana isn't that bad, oh well".

Unforunately, the consequences are too severe for marijuana posession and use. The possibility of losing your job and losing your scholarships to colleges isn't cool... the jail time isn't to severe. Anything over a year is a little over the top.

Any jail time is too severe. Nobody should be confined to a jail cell for being in possession of or attempting to buy or sell a plant. And just because a lot of people lie doesn't make it any less right to insist that penalties be enforced for certain crimes that you have committed and refuse to undergo those penalties yourself. That's simply inexcusable.

It can be morally wrong, it can be inhumane, but that's how it goes buddy. The conservatives are ruling Washing D.C. right now, and they don't want change.

I really don't think he actually meant to admit it...I mean look at the way he said it, and think of the way he usually speaks. (Like a retard)

"I wouldn't answer the marijuana question. You know why? Because I don't want some little kid doing what I tried,"

He is saying he wont answer any questions regarding whether or not he used marijuana...because he don't "want some little kid doing what I tried".

What a fuckin moron.

And actually, the man who recorded him saying this did not want it to be made public until Bush was well out of office, appearently his publisher forced him to give up the tapes.

because majority of people in jail because of marijuana arent in there for s few recreational uses here and there, there are very few states that have jail time for small personal ammounts of marijuana, and plus he didnt get cought, hes smarter than your average idiot

Yes, everyone makes mistakes, and I can see why he wouldn't want to little kids to smoke pot because he did. Because I am sure he stays up at night worrying about the children... . (Especially right before he sends one of their military parents to Iraq). He was worried about it hurting his chances for election.

Kids smoking pot because he did is not the point! The point is he feels it was OK because he was rich and his dad was the head of the CIA. But the poor should be put behind bars for smoking marijauna?!! Hypocrite and liar don't begin to describe him.

PS The day I catch my kids smoking pot is the day I teach them to roll a proper joint. Kiss my ass G. W.

when his dad was head of the cia and later president and daddys friends the attorney general i dont think he had to worry about getting in trouble.
