Hi =)
I am about to start growing some Lowryders 2 but i just had a couple questions about the process.
I know this strain is an auto-flowering kind .. but do i need to move it to an HPS once it starts to show preflowers? and it takes about 3 weeks give or take from seed to start to show flowers if i understood correctly..?
what if i decided to leave them under my CFLs during the whole flowering cycle.. would that affect the yield tremendously?
thanks =)

hey =)
well im growing in soil... but not a newbie to growing
as far as the potency of the LR ive heard good and bad things about it but id like to see for myself what its like.
ill be growing some NLs also so it wont be a complete waste of time...
just wanted to know whether itd be less stressful on these plants to keep them under cfls or to move them to a more poweful light. read some positive experience about flowering under cfls... but still thinking that it might be better under an HPS...
any advice?

It will do better under an hps. IMO, I'd wait maybe a week or 2 after the preflowers show before moving it to hps because there is still alot of veg growth even after the preflowers show. I'd move it at week 4 or 4 1/2. It is also recommended to use a light schedule of 18/6 the whole way through. I have heard of people placing LR2 or LR in their flower room at 12/12 but have never heard good results from them.
Make sure you have LR close enough to the HPS if your flowering with your NL.
As for the high, expect to smoke a little more and a little more often with LR2. What I mean by this is, smoke a bowl.....and chill for a little bit, maybe 45 minutes then when it feels like its wearing off, smoke a few more hits and I've found the high to be longer lasting from the second smoke session. The high is short if you take a few hits and quit. You will be high off a few hits but not for long. Either way, it won't compare to your NL, but you get pretty good smoke from it. :stoned:

Thanks for the advice Balkey.. =)
im actually going to be moving the LR2 to the flowering room way before the NL's since i will be cloning those and vegging them for awhile.
its ok if the LR2 doesnt get me as high as other strains. i like to have different variety of smoke for different occasions!
thanks again

I don't understand why anyone would ever want to grow Lowrider it gets the lowest reviews has potency of mid grade and record low yields. The only reason to grow it would be that your state has banned light timers and you have to grow in 24/0. LR is 1/4 maby more ruderals that barley have %1 THC. If you want a quick harvest just put some bagseed right in the flowering room.

Spoken from someone who has no experience with it probably. For starters, you could place LR or any Low version in your veg room and get bud off it. You can't say that for your other plants. Takes only 2 months from seed to harvest. Requires little space to grow, so for small spaces its nice. If you were to place a seed right into flower the yields would be the same as a regular LR plant. A noob, can get an ounce from LR2 easily (I did).
If you have no experience smoking it, growing it, or even smelling it:stoned:, why come on here to speak negatively about something you know nothing about? LR and all of its' predecessors have made leaps and bounds over the original LR. Lets try to post facts not rubbish i.e. 1% THC????
Bluntwiz, let us know how it all goes. :stoned:

I used CFLs the first couple of weeks; then my HPS. They are now in with my vegging DP Blueberry...all in soil. It's great to be able to use the same space. LR was kinda weak, but LR2 isn't bad at all. Good luck on your grow. :hippy:

I have tried low rider and its not worth taking a good plants space in a veg room and as far as flowering plants in a veg room I can turn the light to 12/12 and get bud for half the electric cost. There are plenty of outer strains that can be grown in as just a small of space as lowrider and they will be more potent at harvest. Only noobs waist time on such strains.

This is LR2 my friend, not LR. THere are differences. You grow LR at 18/6, I was using the veg room as an example of what you COULD do. Again, this is NOT LR, it's its predecessor like I said before.

thanks for your input guys... i was thinking of doing that also.. leaving it my vegging room for a couple weeks and then moving it under my hps. =)
and as for the people criticizing my choice to grow LR2 : (i will repeat this again since those ppl didnt seem to catch it the first time) i have read good things and bad things about
growing this strain but i would like to experience it for myself thank you. im with Balkey on this, if you have no experience growing it, then better keep your mouth shut =)

Haha Ladymarsrn, that plant is just to.. cute!!
Bluntwiz, let us know how the grow goes! I love the micro plant grows. I would probably put it under the HPS, especially if youve got the room.

She is a cutie pie isn't she. I personally like LR2, even though I didn't like the original LR. There are several mixes now: " lowryder hybrids from mdanzig which include power stout, blue streak and masterlow " So quick and can share room. Good to try IMO. :hippy:

well just thought id keep you posted on the effects of my LR2.. i harvested a couple weeks ago (didnt get very much in quantity as expected) but lemme tell ya i sampled a lil bit of it the other day and whoever said that strain isnt potent doesnt know what they are talking about! still needs to finish curing though but it really got me high, probably one of the best highs ive ever had in my life. couldnt stop giggling and the body high was great.

I'm glad your grow went well, how much did you harvest per plant?
I'm thinking about getting an auto flower strain for outdoor next year, probably Diesel Ryder or Auto AK47.

hey,
well i didnt end up with much... had like 3 plants, harvested like maybe half an ounce per plant on average, but i know i coulda done better if i had moved it to a more powerful light earlier on.
good luck with your grow =)

Ive grown LR2 and if grown right it is more than decent smoke.
Anyone that says its junk smoke either didnt grow it right or didnt grow it at all.
Right now I have beans for 8 different autoflowering strains. That is all I plan on growing from now on.
