Hi guys I'm just about to get started on my first grow and wanted some input before i start shopping. Im trying to keep the total cost around $1,000. The grow will be done in my unfinished basement where I have this room made of wood in the corner. The room is 6x8x8 and will be split into 3 area's for vegging flowering and storage area. The strain I will be growing my first time around will be white widow...

This is a list of the main components im looking at getting.

-lumatek 600w ballast
-eye hortilux 600w Bulb
-Super sun II reflector
-Aquamist III with 8 - 4" pots
-250cfm exhaust fan with homemade carbon filter can
-8 or 10" isolating fan
-white plastic

How does this sound? Does anyone know of a nutrient system that will work good with the aquamist system? I have also been searching for a good ph/PMM tester....so lets get some comments rolling in and get this grow started.:pimp:

I'm not an expert, but have a couple questions and insights...
I grow in soil, with no experience with hydro...but it appears to me like that wouldn't give any elbow room for 8 maturing plants. (12"W x 27"L x 10"H)

What kind of lights for the veg room? All light leaks sealed between veg and flower sections?

I'm a big fan of using more than one source of light, and would use 2 400w lights if heat can be exhausted out, but that's just my opinion. Lights can be adjusted, both in height and lateral seperation giving more flexibility to your growcab. Side benefit: If one bulb burns out, will still have one until a replacement is aquired.

One Aquamist for two growing rooms? Why divide into three rooms? Using anything on the floor to protect plants from cold concrete?

You'll have to wait for others to recommend nutes. I use Fox Farms nute system for soil, but they have stuff for hydro. Don't know how good their hydro products are, tho.

The Veg room will be 100% sealed from light and Ill be using fluorescent lighting. The mother plant will be grown in a 5 gallon buck and a plastic dome for the clones.

Im going to with a 600w light because down the road i would like to upgrade and like you said 2 lights make it easyer to workwith then 1. From what I have read I should save money with 2 600w digital lights vs 1 mechanical 1000w.

As for the aquamist I would like to hear more comments. I watched the dvd "see more buds" and they used these things to grow 15lbs in under 80 days using the same system but with someting like 100 plants per system. Thats 100 plants in 2" net pots vs 8 plants and 4" net pots. They also used 600w per system.

The aquamist also comes with a stand to hold it off the ground for 17 bucks that im going to be picking up with it so the plants wont be on the cold basement floor.

Hmmm. 15 (lbs) x 16 (oz per lb) = 240 (oz) x 28 (grams/oz) = 6720 (grams) divided by 100 plants = 67.2 grams per plant in that limited space? Unless that's wet weight, that's 100 humongous plants, isn't it?

Is it me, or does it sound almost too good to be true? Unless 80 days is the the flower time only...?
Sounds like you've got the rest down pretty good, tho.

Im not saying he grew 15 lbs from just them 100 plants im saying he had over 100 plants going in one of these aquamist systems. He had i think 3 4x6 rooms with 3 units in each.
