i am the very last person who wants to get caught and busted with weed... but part of the thrill of smoking, for me, is doing something im definitely not supposed to do.

that being said, i love to find ways to smoke right in public.

and i've found that it's almost easier to smoke in public than to smoke in hiding. when you're hiding, you're conspicuous, suspicious, bound to be cornered.

but in public, you're surrounded by people who instinctively have their own comfort-bubble (you know ppl these days, they like to act like nobody else exists). places like public parking lots are perfect, especially in cold weather because you can keep your car running and it won't look weird. just someone warming up their car.

my best friend back home and i always used to park directly in the middle of a big-chain grocery parking lot. now at college, one of the places i go to is this Municipal parking right across from a popular strip - has the coffee house, the movie theatre, movie rental, everthing...

parking in that parking lot, as long as nobody is in any of the cars surrounding you, is perfect-because there's all night parking (i used to hav to park there when i lived in an apartment building across the street) so it's literally almost always active, but not active enough to cause paranoia.

if a cop ever rolled by my parked car with the engine running, especially now in the winter, assuming there's no visible way to see me, it just gets passed off. hundreds of things cause people to hunker down in parking lots - a busted tire, bad battery, etc...

then there's the magic of "cell phone arguments". sitting in any parking lot, talking "aggressively" on your phone is just one of many ways to "trick" people into thinking you have an actual reason for sitting there. especially with driving cell-phone laws in my state these days, you're almost FORCED to sit in your car and chat. Having a phone up to your ear and appearing to be in a full-throttle conversation can make the difference between someone glancing at you, and someone wondering why you're sitting idly in a parking lot...

ya sometimes i give up on being secritive, like my freinds and I will just smoke on a busy street in broad daylight, or just walk in a park with people around. No one is really going to call the cops, and if you smoke a joint or a blunt and they arent close enough to smell it they wont even notice.

I almost have faith in your belief that it is less of a risk smoking in the public. If someone even thinks your standing out in the middle of this busy area smoking weed, they will most likely instinctively kill that reaction because they'd assume you weren't that stupid. I do it a lot with this small metal pipe I got and this dug out. But I mean only if its necessary.

yea sometimes it is necessary... not only do i live in a dorm room, but i'm an RA (Resident Assistant) which means I'm the one who's supposed to catch OTHERS smoking in their room lol

iv never busted anyone tho, b/c as a faithful stoner-boy, I've smoked in all 5 dorm rooms I've ever lived in - Including this one! (but that was low key hehe)

When i'm not going to my boyfriends, or to another friends house, or if I'm smoking with another dorm-liver, I'll prefer parking somewhere to driving. I mean I've done countless burn cruises, but the paranoia of getting caught sometimes is just too much...

Those "bad feelings" you get before a burn cruise should never be ignored lol, i follow those feelings to a PARKING spot every time :rasta:

Yea it definitel can lead to undesireable consequences, but for the stoner on the go, it really is just a given.

I hav a 4 hour drive home from school, so there are times I'll back a bowl and just nurse it for the whole ride. Don't need to become couchlocked (cuz im not moving from my carseat anyway lol).

But yea, none of this was at all in an attempt to try and glorfiy driving and smoking, it's not only a good way to get caught by PoPo, but it can be dangerous. However, it happens.

I know how that is. I no longer have a car so i have to hoof it all over. I will often listen to my ipod, roll a blunt or joint, and then walk through the neighborhood before I walk to class. People do drive by and come out of their houses but no one is going to do anything because it just looks like i am smoking a cigarette. By the time that they would call the cops, I would be at class and the joint would be long gone. Its almost more relaxing than when I had a car because I know im not going to get"pulled over" if I have my weed and music and I'm getting somewhere, then I'm happy!

Uh... i dont really make that big a deal out of it, cops around here dont really care about just smokin weed they are more about the dealers. that said dont blow weed smoke in a cops face but as long as you are minding your own business it is usually ok to sit in your car and smoke a pipe. they wont fuck with you. just make sure to have your windows up and the recirc/defrost on so its not smellin out there, cuz that can put up a red flag.

Yea totally. I kind of stop caring about that, tho, b/c A. my car is old, and it's gotten to the point where I don't mind dinging it/smelling up the inside lol, and B. i've found that if you're smoking in a car w/ all the windows up, if you're blasting the heat (i guess this only works in winter) not only will the smoke molecules be moving faster due to the heat (and therefor will be gone quicker) but the vent is sucking old air in, and pumping new air out.

It works for me, and then of course there's the old fashion "window down" when it's warm. i fuckin love summer.

ps, lol i know the fake cell phone argument sounds super cheesy, i sensed a bit of mockery in your "eh?" lol, i for one know how silly that sounds, and i don't want ppl to think i sit there in my car for an hour pretending to scream at my phone.

what i really was suggesting, and i guess i could hav made this more clear, that if one is ever feeling paranoid about sitting idly, just putting your phone up to your ear and looking as though you are listening will pretty much take care of how you appear.

Then again, you really just COULD call somebody lol, I've had long-distance "smoke dates" with my boyfriend, where we'll both go park somewhere, like a playground or something, put our phones on speaker, and toke up.

People always talk about how to covert smoke in cars. Untill they get caught and become an anti vehickal smoker like me. The truth is even If you dont waste your high away by worrying in the back of your head if your going to make a simple traffic mistake and get pulled over, Somebody could hit you and cause an accident then YOUR THE REALLY FUCKED ONE. Exspeacialy if someone pulls out in front of you and you kill them while dui. Then its neglagant homicidein stead of a simple accident. Anyways its never worth it All it takes is one time to get caught and here are the consequences. Usally anywhere in the usa its 6 months licence suspension automaticaly for dui, Dui tickets are about 300. 6 points off your licence, Higher car insurance, Getting your car outta the impound 250, (Possesion 600, Paraphenalia 600 If you have this with you), and never try to eat or dispose if it when the cops can possibly see you doing so unless you want a FELONY. The only way people ever learn is the hard way.

Haha I could be. I've smoked with a couple of my residents over the year, and they were some okay times. One of them was really chill, didn't really smoke much, but we had some really awesome conversation. The other kid just sat in the back and got rrrreal quiet lol, I think he might hav been sketched.

Either way, I'm honestly not sure what to tell you about how to approach your RA about smoking. I think if you ran into him at a party and asked if he wanted to smoke w/ you would be a subtle way of doing it. Also, just getting to know him and befriending him on a proper level first will set a nice foundation upon which you can further explore how your RA deals with smoking.

Lol jesus what am i doing, just don't smoke in your building with your RA, because that could get you AND him into a shit ton of trouble.

SkyHigh, now that you mention doing that, in my freshman year I remember doing some Really stupid things that I'd never do today lol. As it was, my freshman year of college was my first year smoking weed ever, and I guess I just wasn't aware of all the social (and legal) idiosyncracies. But we would just stand in the parking lot smoking a blunt, or go stand under some trees and smoke a blunt lol, duuuummmbbb shit.....

And there was another post up there about "all it takes is one time to get caught" and I totally TOTALLY agree with that. Even re-reading my post makes me slightly ashamed that I've risked exposure, injury, jail-time, or worse, killing myself or someone else.

I do plan on thinking twice before embarking on any driving/smoking experiences in the future... but as far as smoking publicly WITHOUT a car, well... nobody ever died from getting bumped into by a stoner on the sidewalk :hippy:

I like the cell phone tip... I've used it on many occasion. Nobody wants to come up and ask what you are doing parked there when you are obviously aggrevated and yelling at a small electronic device. Haha. I was also a big fan of the "huge overnight parking lot" system, while in high school. With cameras nowadays though, that is tricky. I have moved on from smoking in vehicles, and after reading a few replies before this, I am done for sure. Didn't think about if someone hit you, or you honestly accidentally hit someone, it is D.U.I. and a greater charge. Yikes! I was a stupid kid. Especially now that I have my own place, it is a no brainer. As for smoking in public, in cities it is really easy. Just as long as you don't have 10 people in a circle all coughing their brains out. Yea dude, I generally don't burn-cruise if I can avoid it these days. I've been fortunate enough not to run into police/accidents so far, so statistics say it's only a matter of time.

I've always been a very conscious driver, I atribute that to my mom always telling me "It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, you always have to look out for the other guy". That being said, I still have no excuse for burn cruising (well, except that I live in the dorms... but still)

And on your thing about the Hookah outside a coffeeshop, I wonder where you live that you think you'd get arrested. I know on my college campus, every once in a while (in the warmer weather) a bunch of dredlocked and droopy-eyed kids would sit in the quad with a Hookah, and of course someone with authority would approach them thinking it was weed, sometimes the police. But I don't know of any instance where they were arrested/questioned before looking at substance in the device.

I think one time they got away w/ actual weed in there tho, because so many times they'd been approached for only having tobacco lol, pick your battles people

Where I live you would deffinately get caught if u were smoking in public because we have these people called "peace police" who roam around the small village all day. There are always about 6 of them walking around and always sheriffs driving around and down the backstreets... We have a bunch of designated places where we toke in the woods and stuff and we have never really had any problems. Except for this one time lol.... We were walking to one of our usual spots on the back streets and 2 cops in a sheriff car started to follow us so instead of sketching out we just walked into the woods as we normally would and they just followed us to the trail at the dead end of the woods and watched us walk into the woods. Once out of sight we ran and hid far away from the trail in a pile of logs and toked up and took an alternate route out to make it look like we took a short cut to another kids house and then walked back to the village.

I, of course, had to suppress the urge to say, "Good for them!"

Instead, I told her I would call. She waited for me to make the call, like right in front of her, but I just kept stalling like, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it. Okay. Thanks for reporting it."

She left. I waited like ten minutes and then called, cause I felt kinda obligated to do so. I figured if they hadn't finished up by then, they deserved whatever they got for being stupid enough to sit in the middle of a mall parking lot in broad daylight smoking.

Soooo just wanna say a busy parking lot isn't necessarily the best thing either. Not a bad choice but I'd seek privacy if it were me.

Smoked at numerous concerts, one particularly stupid idea was when me and my friends smoked in the food queue for Tenacious D, most obvious place, indoor with a few hundred people around and we are usually kinda paranoid about it but no one said anything...so I suppose it wasn't THAT stupid in retrospect.

Smoked in cars lotsa times, probably pure luck and my friends careful driving that hasn't got us busted.

Smoked at my school before too but that was after hours when it was dark so wasn't really public....

Word I like to take a cig and empty out most of the tobacco and replace it with herb. I put a little tobacco in last so it looks perfectly normal. During my lunch break I'll just smoke it like a regular cigarette. Nobody would notice the smell because I don't blow cigarette smoke in people's faces.

Does worrying about getting caught mess up your high? It does for me every time, responsibility kicks in and I start cleaning things up or just sitting and worrying about getting caught and what would happen if I got caught. Of course, the more I blaze, the less I often the worrying comes back to me (every 15 minutes). I really wish there will be a point in my life where I can blaze worry-free.

just a few days ago i was on this bike and running trail behind my house taking solar hits when these two middle aged walking couple walked right by me. i got the strangest look because i had this fancy sherlock pipe and a magnifying glass held in the air burning it.

as far as being sneaky i always keep ozium in my car when i smoke. it takes care of the smell right away.

When I toke and drive I only use joints. That and I don't smoke enough to get blazed. Then I just finish it off when I'm at my destination because I usualy start not too long before I arrive. As far as getting pulled over when I'm smoking, how could they prove that you are high unless you are ripped out of your mind? I wear contacts so my eyes are almost always red and just cause it smells like weed doesn't mean they can do anything about it. Just as long as you don't have anything on you. Then really, what can they do?

My friends get really 'noid about smoking in public. One of my buddies will duck down as far as he can to toke the joint so no one can see what he is doing in the car. This just makes it obvious to me. I just smoke it like it's a cig and I don't think anyone would ever be the wiser.

I've also smoked at a concert before in the parking lot right next to my vehicle. I just made sure I was aware of my surroundings and as long as no one was near, I always had time to just swallow the joint down and have nothing to worry about if an officer did show up. My friend on the other hand got pretty paranoid. The more of us that just start to smoke and be chill about it, the more common it will become. Then in the end, it will be accepted. Yeah i pretty much walk down the street smoking a joint and no one really notices they all think its a cig.

And i love smoking in my truck becuase its raised and no one can really see inside!

I got a story for yall, i used to live in a small fishing village in newfoundland canada, we smokin up on the tracks. (old train tracks) we see 4 cops roll up on atvs. they lookin at us, laughs, and walks up to us. he goes " i see we have some felons here" "give me that blunt" i was sittin there high as shit, like iight well its over. college, jobs, the love of my parents, thats it its done with, my life is ruind. if i wasnt so brave to be lookin str8 at the cop i would have missd it, he takes a massive drag on the blunt hands it back and is like. HEHE, Your welcome. i was like :O WTF MAN!! start triping out, i run home and lie in my bed for a hour, come down after my friends still on the big rock, cops are gone, so we smoke agian..

I've smoked joints and bowls right in front of my work...I work at an outlet (an outside mall)...the people pass by but don't really say shit usually...once I got a few responses though when I was smoking a joint, one was: "That's a great cigarette, huh?" and another guy when I was smoking a bowl saying: "Holy Shit!" and laughed while he was passing me.

But I got my reccommendation.... I'm all good lol

I get super paranoid smoking in public. Which makes the buzz that much more sativa! But lately it's not that much of a big deal. Instead of getting caught, I'm more wary of the idiots who'll come up to you and practically shout, yo hook me up dude! :wtf:

I agree, whenever my friends want to smoke I always tell them to just smoke on the street but they're always too scared to do it. So we end having to walk a whole lot just to go to someone's house or something just to smoke a blunt.

Me, I just smoke in the street, in front of my school, or anywhere. Even if someone sees you, either you'll be done smoking by the time they call the cops or what usually happens is they just don't care.

if you are in san francisco you don't even have to be discreet. i used to always see people rolling up fat blunts at the McDonalds on Haight and Stanyan at the entrance to golden gate park. the only thing i'd worry about is people trying to steal your ganja.

but yeah you could probably get away with hitting a compliated-ass bong on the street in san francisco and nobody would glance twice at you . Oh how i miss that city sometimes.

Damn! Im happy to see this thread gets revived every once in a while.

It's ironic that I started it, because it's been over a month since I've smoked annyyything. I took a month off around March, and for some reason that seemed to drag, but this one I barely noticed.

I relocated to a bigger city (right after i graduated college finally, as a proud pothead) and i landed a job as a Personal Trainer (totally not what i went to school for, but hey), so I'm just waitin for that inevitable drug test.

But I probably won't strike up a toke for a while, especially since i'm now coaching others how to have healthier bodies.

Somewhere down the line though, maybe I'll take six months off or something. Or a year. Damn, that'd be an achievment.

And what a fukucking high that would be after a year, eh? ;)

Just don't have any on you when you drive. If you do, have it in Joint form. Easily disposed if needed, and even easier to hide in a spot they will never find it. It's all about being smart about how you do it and never admit to anything. As soon as you do, they can start crackin down on you and possibly searching. Also, be polite. If you get an attitude in some way, they will either get the feeling there is something you want to hide or will just get irritated and give you a hard time.

They can't do anything just cause you're vehicle smells like weed. They can just make you think that they can do something about it. Which will probably be a search, which is why you really don't want any on you if you had smoked in your vehicle recently.

The parks in my city are scenic, plus there's trails because it's Colorado. So I just walk to my favorite spots and pack a bowl or two. :thumbsup:

My neighborhood is really stuck-up suburban; but the park is so chill.
