I am getting ready to sprout some seeds that will hopefully lead to a nice mother plant so I can keep a small flowering box filled up with clones. I am using Nirvana Papaya seeds.

I would like to just keep the mother as a houseplant, (I am a legal med user) but I am unsure of how to light it. I really want to keep it in the room I sleep in. It is never really dark in the room as there is a street light right outside the window that is kept open. With my schedule, I could give it 14 hours of daylight--probably not enough to keep it in veg. Could I light it with another type of light like a black light? (Reaching I know).

Perhaps a cover of some sort...

So, what do people do to keep a houseplant mother in veg?

if you wanna keep a nice mother plant vegging you are going to need a nice MH lamp...i'm not sure if you could do this with some CFL's but you would need alot anyways...but be sure to read the grow faq's cuz they really have everything you need to know...also 18/6 is the light schedule that you want...but seriously...the grow faq's are your friend

I am thinking fluorescent light. I have read/searched in the FAQ's, I even keep hitting the 60 second time limit for searches.

I'll keep searching...

you can do a mother with fluorescents perhaps a bonsai type mother/s. really it depends on how many cuttings you would like to take from her at any given time, i think that would dictate the type and intensity of the light you would want to use.

Bonsai is the way to go for me. I just need enough going to keep me in meds. I'll probably end up taking cuttings that I don't need most of the time. I found a great thread over at the Intl Cannagraphic site.
