That's cool. I like "Pali Gap" better, though. Thanks, he was inspirational.

Satch has been one of my favorite guitarists since I was a kid. Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett are runners up... both used to take lessons from Joe, and now look at them!

I've seen him live a few times, and I'm telling you now if you're interested in his brand of music... you NEED to see him play these songs live. For a while, I always thought a lot of his work was studio trickery with simultaneous solo tracks happening at once. Then I saw him nail that same solo note-for-note at a G3 concert, and even threw in some eccentric shit just for the fun of it!

He's great, someone all aspiring guitarists should take the time to listen to and study. I've learned a ton of great techniques from watching his live DVDs. And a lot of them aren't ridiculously complicated, they're just played a light speed! His slower stuff is great, too... and much more attainable for newer players.

Here are a few more good songs to "chill" to:

Until We Say Goodbye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAY3WeZovGk)
(I swear to God he's an alien. Just look at him!)

The Extremist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c29PI3mDnwY&feature=related)
(This whole album is insane.)

Always With Me, Always With You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yc8xyL0Xxo&feature=related)
(Another slow jam with great solos.)

If you play guitar, check out the rest of his live videos. Study his technique, get some his tablature, and learn a few of his songs. It'll inspire you to be just as creative when you're coming up with your own jams.

I'm studying it as we speak!

I love Summer Song and The Forgotten Part 2.

I thought Eddie Van Halen was brilliant...this man is deep in taste.

I love guitar instrumentals. I know that there is already a thread on him but here is one of bucketheads masterpieces that EVERYBODY should watch. YouTube - Buckethead - Nottingham Lace (http://youtube.com/watch?v=vYxrdrzmuUw)
