i have a foot-tall, 3 week old stud of a male plant who is covered in branches and nads.

however, i am concerned as to said nads. these are not your regualr preflowers, the thing is literally covered in em, and many are opening up, despite the 20/4 schedule.

i dont care about the other seedlings, but i do have a finishing female in the other room. (luckily, the male is about 30ft away in an enclosed, fanless room).

1) is it normal to be so sexually active in a vegetative schedule?
2) how much of a risk will it pose?
3) i plan to move it and another female into the 12/12 hps next week, how would i go about making hundreds of seeds?

1- sounds like an autoflowering trait if it is as covered as you describe. What line is it? Personally I would not really want to use it for breeding. I've seen posts at other forums by serious breeders who actually cull any male who shows flowers in veg.

2- keep it misted down a couple times a day, including the area around and under the plant to minimize risk. When the pods open, it's risky.

3- Just let them do ther thing if you want hundreds of seeds. You'll be shocked how many you get.

1) must be, since last i checked, preflowers dont grow on colas in clusters of 10-20 :p

2) the other plant is coming down within the next 72hours i think. can stray pollen do harm at that point?

3) thought so. itll have a fan by it to spray the juice everywhere.

PS: picture at bottom. enjoy the full glory of a vegetating-lol... male

All of my males have looked like that with bunches of balls all over. But not usually in veg, that is pretty weird.

good luck mate

UPDATE:

Dumped it under the 600w hps along with my best female sativa of the 3.

shes slow showing her sex, but its a feminized seed so itll be fine. the male's fan leaves are practically yellow with pollen

planning to make couple dozen seeds, if not more.

yaaay!
thats what i wanted. I plan to grow some outdoors in summer, and if some of those plants carry that autoflower trait, i may be able to pull 2 crops!

PS: how long will seeds take to mature after pollination?

remember to save as much of that pollen as poss to back cross your seeds that you make the auto flower trait may not come out in the first cross ! if it turns out to be a true auto flowering sativa strain i would imagine a few breeders may want your genetics

Depending on where you live, you'll might want to get some seedlings in the soil shortly after the last frost of the year. Since you're in Canada, I have little idea what kind of weather you deal with every year. But during the summer months, you'll want the plants to be growing strong so they can make best use of the intense sunlight.

And many seeds continue to mature even after the plant has been harvested. If you have a ton of them, several will probably pop out of their bracts and fall to the floor before you even harvest. When I've got some seeded buds, I leave the seeds alone until the buds are actually consumed. Drying, curing, and everything. I've found that this results in less immature white seeds.

so in otherwords ill just flower completely then?

i just want to get as much pollination as possible before the male gets swapped out for the other vegging females in 2-3 weeks hopefully.
