Hey guys sorry if this has been asked before but a search on 'watering' returns half the forum. So, i picked up a couple of these pots that are meant for hanging plants. i picked them because theyve got excellent drainage which collects in this resevoir at the bottom which has an opening. i then either tip it to the side or suck out the extra water with a turkey baster. the resevoir and hole are meant to be used to put water in and then let the plant suck it up. My question is can i use these pots in their intended way ie pouring water into the resevoir or will that hurt my plants?

It's generally not a good idea to feed from the bottom, unless you're running a hydro setup or a wick system. When feeding from the top in soil, you may still get a few pockets of dry soil, but at least the runoff isn't left soaking in the bottom of the pot. Root rot and suffocation of the bottom-feeding roots is common when standing water is left to "soak in" to the pot from the bottom.
