I am going to purchase a hydroponic cultivation system after my current grow is done. (Harvesting this Saturday CAN'T WAIT). And was considering the waterfarm series from GH with the 13/8 gallon controller unit. The 8-pack system. I just have a few questions about it so if anyone has this type or even the 8-pack itself I would really appreciate some feedback.

I plan on doing a scrog/sog with some t5 setups.
1. How do you change the nutes in the system. Do you have to remove each resevior on each module and dump that out the refill them along with the resevior or does it run fine with just topping off every few days.
2. When changing to flowering nutes do you have to do the same thing or, since I use GH 3-part nutes, just put in the mixture specified for the transition phase then once it runs low put in flowering nutes.
3. Drip rings. Do they clog easily?
4. I am going to be using A LOT of different supplements, mostly from GH, diamond black, liquid karma, banana manna, growth max, and canna pk 13-14 so I want to make sure that residue won't build up inside the system.
5. I use FloraKleen between nutrient changes in my DWC system I have right now. Can I use it in the drip system without having to go through changing everything like in #1.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

That system will give you monster plants & root mass. However, if you do not convert it to a re-circulating system, each bucket will have a different ppm & ph. I have seen plants 4 feet in diameter with this system (thats switching to 12/12 @ 2 1/2" feet tall) There is actually a system on ebay that is the GH Waterfarms converted into a re-circulating system. Its a real pain in the balls to constantly checking each bucket especially when its full of roots.

He's absolutely right. GH now makes one called the "Power Grower" that has something like 8 5 gallon buckets and a big controller and if I'm not mistaked IS a recirculating system to prevent the exact issue hydrohut is talking about.

The w/fs need some modifications to grow big plants.....I've drilled extra holes in all my little red buckets and....in fact....have recently DUMPED The little red buckets altogether due to drainage and rootbound issues.

Easiest way to change the system is to buy a couple stop valves and a good water pump and drain from the main line.

Yes, the drips rings and float hole will clog easily and have to be fixed fairly often. Keep your drill on hand to drill larger holes in the drip rings and a ton more holes in your red buckets.

Yes you have to pull everything out and change everything to FloraKleen and/or flowering nutes etc...

Sounds like I'm making things hard right? But you have GREAT questions and are wise to ask them BEFORE you buy the system. All systems have their problems but planning ahead and knowing what you are getting into is a really good idea. There's an old link around somewhere......brb
