View Full Version : Never to old to be a dork

I guess that in my day-to-day life I often do things that make me sort of a dork.
I was shopping at Target today, and they have the best shopping carts for riding. You can stand on the back axle and they are nice and stable, not like the ones that want to flip up in the front when your weight is on the back. So, I was heading back to my car with 24 rolls of toilet paper, a bottle of Draino and some Mr Clean Magic Erasers. I put one foot on the axle, gave a good push with the other foot, then put it on the axle too. The parking lot has a gentle downward slope, and the car was at least 50 yards down the row, so I had a long straight run and picked up some really good speed. I noticed other shoppers watching me and realized what they were seeing: a man in his forties, grinning like a fool, hurtling thourgh the Target parking lot, clinging to the back of a shopping cart. A dork.
Do you do anything dorky, or is it just me?

Who cares what others think, you were enjoying yourself and not doing others harm and that's all that matters. In fact that's what makes hapiness. I do tons of dorky little things like that all the time, and probably always will.

Ha ha! I agree completely, and I don't really worry about what other people think when I am having harmless fun. I got a laugh out of some of the looks because I thought either this person will now have something to talk about at dinner, or they may be secretly wishing inside that THEY were riding their own shopping cart. Made me feel like asking, "Want to ride your cart? It's easy! Climb on! I'll give you a push!"

dragonrider, Thanks for making me smile (with your story). Same to you, iTokethings, it kind of adds to his story, being right above the "reply" box.
Ghosty and nextline, high!

At 45 years old, I am just as much of a "Dork" as you because I ride shopping carts when ever I have the opportunity and the Target on Victory & Vineland has a slight down hill grade to their parking lot.
I push myself through the store on the cart and make a scene when I crash into a display or some silly thing like that.:D

yeah, it is a dork move, but being a dork rules, it is what keeps us all human, the fact that you do it in public is even better, its better than all those who say that it is weird and not to do it, just because they like to pick there nose when no one looks. But i agree with the shopping cart being the best, now if i could only get over the smell of the target near me then id be in business. Target-better than walmart, more expensive too, but still not walmart.

QFT!!!
Looked at from the perspective of a therapist, the ability to enjoy life in silly, harmless ways like that is a positive. You don't have those walls up that keep you from doing things out of fear of how others will see you.
But if that was you who put that big dent in the side of my car... lol!!! :D
