I freaked out today when I went past my grow room and could see that the light was still on. It was supposed to shut off at 3am so it went about 6 hours over. I'm at day 32 of 12/12. I'm leaving the light off for the next 24 hours. How much is this going to set me back? I think when I was watering I moved a cord that was near the timer.

Thanks

i dont really think its that bad just put them into t he darkness for as much time the lights were on for overdo buts its not really something you got to worry about the same thing happened to me and my litte seedlings but i cut them off for the time of darkness they missed and everything turned out good

Watch carefully for hermies.
You probably won't get any, but this kind of stress can cause them.
More likely, your plant will revert to a veg state for a few days to a week. It may decrease your yield slightly, and extend your flower period for the same amount of time. Look for new leaf growth where there should be buds.

:thumbsup:I used to put my lights on for 24hr in the fith week of flowering to "double bud" em it always gave me more but took a lil longer and I had some strange looking heads lol but i wouldnt say you should worry

I know you said you may have moved the cord, but for anyone using Intermatic timers...(the ones with red "off" inserts and greenish "on" inserts)
I used to have the problem with my intermatic timers not always shutting off, especially as they get older. I guess the tabs on the on/off inserts get worn...? I found that if you double-up the inserts, (put two of the same color, side-by-side) it at least has it's back-up 15 minutes later.

As not all of us have such stable strains, nor do all growers here have as much experience as you, I really would not advocate doing this with the lights. Especially if you neglect to mention the growroom/growing conditions and techniques that you utilize.
Not to mention, you didn't state the possible ramifications of doing it wrong. You put the entire crop at risk. For us med growers, this could likely be disasterous.

OK sorry should of put a warning out as it can cause real problems if you get it wrong, can cause the plant to revert to veg for too long leaving you with what we used to call cabbage buds lol(not nice taste either!), also can cause stress and possible hermis. Just thought id try to cheer the bloke up as he'd already done it and ive done it on purpose in the past and been ok, well im 100%sure it actually increased my yield.

if they arent hermie prone then a mistake or two wont hurt. still watch though.

Throwing them in the dark for 24 hours after the prolonged light period is probably not such a hot idea either. The less you change the 12/12 photoperiod, the less chance of running into problems. If this had happened to me, I would have just reset the timer and let them continue on the same schedule.

So far, so good. No sign of hermies yet. The strain will be hermie prone though. I used seeds from my last grow that went hermie because I had no good seeds. At least they were all female and the bud was excellent in both taste and yield last time (except for all the damn seeds). Also a few BB/NL that are looking real nice right now at 4 weeks 4 days. I did leave the lights off 24 hours so I'll have to see what happens.
FYI I was using an Interlock Timer. Good tip on doubling the inserts.
Thanks

i would just leave them on 12/12 and check ur lights regularly along with the timers sometimes timers slow down and you have to readjust them
