Ugh Busted...First Time

Alright, I was driving with some buddies today, and the one time I decide to be an idiot and bring my bowl along with some weed (about 4 grams). Needless to say, I get pulled over, not having a clue what I did to get pulled over (I was never told either). He probed me with questions, and I denied there was anything in the car. When he asked to search the car, I said I would not consent to any searches basing it off the fact he pulled me over for virtually no reason.

The cop heads back to his car, and a while later another police car shows up, the officer in that pulled me to the side and tells me I can either fess up to what's in the car and get a ticket, or he'll take his dog and have the dog sniff the vehicle find whatever's in there, and I can head to jail. After that statement I fully cooperated and told the officer what was in the car, but he still searched my car with the dog.

Long story short, I get possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. I'm from Iowa, 19 years old, and this is the first time I've ever been in trouble with the cops. I have a court date February 22nd, and I'm freaking out.

The main thing I'm worried about is getting my license revoked, but what should I be looking for in terms of fines and thing like that? I work at a local retail store and go to college part time and I'm scared I'm going to lose my student loans. Anybody got any advice on what to do and expect? I appreciate it.

Well it looks like you gave in and gave him consent. I think the best thing you can do is get a lawyer and try to get a lesser charge

dude, pretty much the same thing happened to me(only i had papers, but to them its the same thing). when it happened to me i lived in kentucky. my sentence is i cannot get caught with ANYTHING for 2 years, but no drug testing(thank God). i wouldnt worry too much though but i know what your sayin. i was freakin out too and callin everyone i knew who had gotten caught and askin them what they got. thats a dick cop that got u, arent they all hahaha. but best luck to ya dude. my best advice would be to smoke up while u can! :jointsmile:

Yeah, the weed the cop confiscated was only schwag, and I'm fortunate enough to have about an 8th of AK-47 and Sour Diesel left at my house. So I'm definitely going to take your advice! :stoned:

lol, dude thats so wierd cause i was caught with some schwag too, i smoke good most of the time but money was low. so when i was in jail i looked at my buddies and said "well atleast they just got the bullshit." how long were u in jail for?

I actually didn't have to go to jail. I was going to, but since I confessed to what was in the car and wasn't an asshole I just got the tickets and a court date, and I was on my horribly depressed way.

damn your lucky. the cops that got us were real dicks. me and my 2 buddies were put in a one man holding cell for 15 hours. fuckin dicks

Something similar happened to me before except I was in the dorms when it happened. I'm from Maryland so I really wouldn't take everything I say to the bone but needless to say I would probably be most worried about your college situation. Its possible your college could find out and because of that they could mandate certain sanctions on you that would require random drug testing and drug treatment program. You don't have to worry about jail time since its your first time but expect some fines and stupid stuff to go along with it like community service or probation. Your main concern is having a crimminal record but if you get a good lawyer you could possibly get it on stet doc like I did in which you make an agreement with the judge to confess to your crimes and as long as you stay out of trouble for a year you're ok. This is all based on MD law so I really don't know but thats basically what happened to me.
