Would it be beneficial at all to have HPS overhead and CFLs off to the side, towards the middle of the plant? And if so, what kelvin for the CFLs?
definately. id say 2700k to match the hps and/or a bluer light, like 6500k, to mix the spectrum.

Ok, so if I was using MH for veg, could I then do the same w/ the CFLs? For veg would they have to be matching spectrums?

In veg, you want daylight bulbs for maximum growth.
In flower, if you already have an HPS, I would still use the daylight bulbs, to stimulate trichome production.
I use HPS (1200w), MH (400w), and daylight T-8 fluoro's (160w) in flower.

So in veg I could use a MH overhead and have some 5700k CFLs off to the side?
