The U.A.E. is so strict on laws like this because they're hoping to make money off foreigners paying bail. Why do they do this you ask? Because it's been proven that the countries oil-reserves are running dry and predicted by many experts that they maybe depleted by as soon as 2015. Hence the country is rather desperate to keep money flowing in. This is also the reason for the huge billion dollar investments into tourist locations such as the man made islands and the worlds allest building and first underwater resort. All these developments are being made in hopes that when the oil reserves run dry. The country can switch it's economical money maker to tourism... This will most likely fail with laws as such, and the country is rather in denial of how serious a risk of economical bankruptcy they face. They're getting desperate.

Fuckity shudder fucks. I've travelled through Dubai, on my way to Goa and back, I never left the airport though. Guards were a bit strict looking, i reckon I had more than 0.003g/s of hashish in every cubic centimetre of my breath.

my counselor for drug/alcohol evaluation told me about this. it isnt quite what you think, apparently this was some guy who they wanted for something different but couldnt get him so they did what they could, kind of an oj simpson or al capone type situation.
