hello all!
this is my first grow ever, after a month or so i've build a cabinet for my little plant. i've germinated 3 bag seeds and only one made it. i think i've planted too deep the other 2. live and learn...
here's my setup:
-lights-3*23W CFL(2*6500K, 1*2700K)---aprox.4000 lumens
-lights are on 18/6 for 3-4 for days , before that 24/0 and before that it was not sow exact schedrule...
-light posted about 2-2,5 inches above the top of the plant
-soil mixed with sand(20 % sand)
-i've given nutrients for 3 days(7 7 7), half a dose of what says on the bottle
-temp-75 F
-i have a active exhaust and a passive intake, a mini cpu fan for circuling air in the interior of the closet.
there's a problem wit the plant, i'e beent told on this forum that it has variegation, i think it's possible that low light caused this problem becouse i've read on this problem (variegation) and says something about clorophile. other couses as well as a virus is possible. hope it doesn't die.
will try to find a better nute, something like 5-2-3 for veg as i understand is better than the actual 7-7-7.
i've posted some pics with the plant and the closet.
any suggestion is wellcomed, and any advice this being my first grow ever.
i'm tinking of buying some real seeds but first i'll practice on this.
i'll keep you posted whit photos and news.
the seed is a bagseed, i've cut the top and smoked it and gave me a pretty decent buzz/high so i'm thinking it's ok to grow it. hope it's a female.
thanks in advance, waiting for anwers.

ps.: how many times should i nute the plant...once a week? that's written on the bottle.

with most nutrients you just add it to the water and just water them when the soil gets a little dry on the top.
check these video's out and you'll learn alot. they're only like 30-40 min.

here's a photo i took today. i don't know why the leafs hang down and why after the transplant in this bigger pot the plant's growth has stopped or slowed down. the transplant was made 4 - 5 day ago.

it kinda looks like your plant is reaching for the light alot

it was under a very small power flourescent lamp until a week or so, and then it was growing tall for light. now it's good i think. the first 5 blades leafes are showing, but there's not much growing...

hey according to your picture, i would either top your plant pretty soon or start lst. otherwise its gonna get too tall

I keep all mine at around 1-2 inches from the cfl's. May have something to do with the stretching. I agree that you need to do some training or topping or it will get out of control. Good luck!

looks like its reaching for the light imo. I would get it closer to the lights first. Low stress training would probably help you more by allowing better light penetration. Another thing, if you just transplanted, the plant is gonna need a few "recovery days" to get through the shock you just gave it..:mad:LOL.. It may not do anything for a few days, but..and i am not sure about it but it also looks like you have a nute problem. Im no expert on this one, someone who knows more can give you a more accurate diagnosis.
you cut the top off and smoked it? the leaves?:wtf:LOL.Damn bro, you really needed to smoke huh?:thumbsup:...J/K..LOL..i feel ya

thanks for the advices. i've started LST. about the nute i know it's not a very good one, i'll try to find something more specific, but the pattern on the leafs i undestood it's called variegation and has nothing to do with the nute. i think it was the light...now the newer leafs don't have anything unusual.

ps: do you think i coud flower this plant(assumming that it's a female) with my existing lights? (3X24WCFL, 2X6500K;1X2700K, aprox 4000 lumens)

Hi Liv,
As far as flowering goes I would definitely add some more 2700K. These are the ones you want moreso for flowering.

hi to all.
the plant has started to grow real nice. i'm happy to anounce that the variegation pattern has dissapeard. thanks for the advices.
i've posted some pics with the plant.
btw do you think i can tell the sex? have the preflowers appeared?

could you tell me please if the preflowers have appeared and if it's a male or a female?

nope cant tell... do u have them in flowering... as in the 12/12 cycle

hows the drainage of that soil? when u transplanted how was the dirt? 4real perlite is something i alwas add to my soil bout 10% dont now bout sand tho
liviurock
02-13-2008, 12:08 AM
no, i don't have them in flower, the light cycle is 18/6, but i understood that it's possible to see the preflowers even in the veg state. anyway, thanks for the info.
the sand+soil works good for drenations...i tryed to find perlite but it's almoust impossible in my country, thats why i've gone with sand.

can i bring it to flowering(12/12 light cycle) and then switch back to veg state without any stress to the plant, i mean turn it into hermi or someting like that?

I have heard it's possible but causes a lot of stress to the plant.
Also, how did you wire the CPU fan? Can you just plug it in to an outlet?

If you are trying to figure out if its a girl or not the plant will have to be in 12/12. Once it has been in 12/12 for a few days (or more), you will begin to see the pistils (girl):D, or balls (boy).
Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are trying to do. I am a little confused here as to why you want to switch it back into veg if you just changed it to flower.:wtf:
Are you asking if you can switch it back to veg after flowering and re-flower again?. If so, yes you can, but it may not yield as much as the first so I have heard. If you are trying to switch it back to veg after you have sexed them the answer is no you shouldnt because it may hermie from stress or worse if I am not mistaken.

don't ever plug a cpu fan into an outlet. if the voltages don't match it will not be something you want. the cpu fan 's voltage is 12V...you have to get an adapter from 110V or 220V (what is your outlet voltage) to 12V. and then you can connect the fan...if tou want to connect 2 or more you'll have to connect them in a paralel conection.
i was wandering if i could sex the plant with no stress.....and now that i know that it will sterss it i will wait until the i'll put the flowering cycle. a couple of weeks, i want to grow it a little larger.
thank for the answers.

Definitely dont want this, they are two different voltages not to mention amperages which is what will kill you.:thumbsup:Always read the labels on anything electronic or electrical. If you dont know what your doing with electricity, dont fool with it. :thumbsup:It aint worth dying over.

Have you got a fan blowing on it? If not I would get a small fan. Also make sure your ventilation is good.

i got a big fan for an activ exhaus and a passive intake...and a smaller cpu fan blowing into the plant for circulating air into the closet.
