Question about changing water

I have a hydro system made out of a rubbermaid container and two bubbles stones. My question here is, how often do i change the water and put new nutrients, and along with that do i actualyl have to let the water sit out for a day or two to get the chlorine and other stuff thats in it to evaporate??

Its suggested to change the res every 7 to 10 days. I have never let my water set out over night or whatever. Straight into the res add my nutes then adjust Ph good to go!

thank you..one more thing, my ph down that i got from the pet store doesnt seem to work to well, my ph isnt lowering for somereason (maybe because of the nutes i duuno)?

If you are following the directions according to the label on the Ph down and its not doing anything all I can think is that the product might be expired its hard to say. I use sulphuric acid and it works like a charm. 1 to 2 drops per 10 gal of water will lower my Ph a point or 2. There are many products out there that can affect the Ph up or down. Like Baking Soda will cause it to rise for example. I think people that purchase specific products like ph up or ph down are throwing money out the window. I bought some sulphuric acid to lower my ph when needed and I will never have to buy ph down ever and baking soda is so cheap and it raises ph just as well as products advertised for ph up. Just think outside the box theres more than one way to skin a cat. Google ph up and ph down or alternative ways to raise or lower ph. You will be surprised what you find and will save money along the way.

The biggest problem with using the products you recommend is what is left over in the system after the H+ and OH- ions separate. Sulphuric acid is H2SO4 and will leave extra sulfur in your system, and baking soda is NaHCO3 which will leave extra sodium.

pH up and pH down solutions are designed for the use we put it to, and use chemicals which are beneficial to the plants, not detrimental.

While you may think people who buy products are 'throwing money out the window', I will have to disagree.

Although your point is valid, I don't believe the average grower on this site really cares about the science and detail you mentioned. I have used the above mentioned products to manipulate my Ph and the results speak for themselves. My plants have been nothing but sweet healthy growing and looking as well as very nice potent smoke.

OK then, no 'science and detail', professional pH-adjusting products are more stable, and more beneficial to your plants than drain cleaner and baking soda. They will maintain your pH for longer and disassociate into beneficial components your plants can use to grow.
