you can get small hps security lights and re wire them thats what i did :D
metal halides are used for veg high presure sodium for flower (they have differant light spectrums)
hope this helps:thumbsup:

o and as for nutes ive seen great results with fox farms

antman20
02-06-2008, 12:48 AM
ok here's the thing they dont sell fox farm nutes any where wihtin lik 5 hours of where i live, but what about any other ferts that they would sell at like walmart or home depot, and second i can buy one of those secerity lights at home depot but will it be enough for all my plants to grow enough weed?
because ive spent enough money on the setup and the cfl's so far?

im going to veg until they get like 9"
because i don't have enough space for them to get anny bigger

questions need answers
so any help is appreciated!!

Greetings Antman. Your plants are looking fine to me so far.

If you can spend money you can get a credit card. Pre paid credit cards are available all over the internet and other places. It's not really a credit card since nobody is extending credit to you, but you use it exactly like a credit card, and you don't even have to use your real name on the card.

I would highly recommend not using common nutes found in regular stores. You will get much better results using good nutrients, and yes I believe Fox Farm makes good nutrients. There are many others, and I'm kinda experimenting, but I got along just great for several years using nothing but Fox Farms. Also search Liquid Light, but that's pretty darn spendy, but you don't have to use nearly as much as recommended to see some amazing results.

Unless you like projects, and specifically wiring, I would just wait until you can buy a good light with a digital ballast, which will run both MH and HPS. You can get some darn fine harvests using solely fluorescent lighting, just make sure you use the proper wavelengths for the proper time. That's roughly 6200K for veg and 2400K for budding, but a mixture of the two, like 85/15 percent is best. Throw all the light you can at them and they will reward you for it. Especially during budding. Vegging don't hardly take nothing to grow well, budding is a different story. If you are going to upgrade eventually and you don't want to spend the extra $25 on a digital ballast which will run cooler (a big issue), quieter (may be a big issue), on less electricity (big issue for me), and will make the lights burn brighter with less flicker, and last longer, and will run both veg (MH) and bud (HPS) bulbs, then get HPS since it will do OK at vegging and very well at budding. Especially with HID lighting, plan on spending as much on ventilation as you do on lighting.

I would not fill your pots completely to the top with dirt. I like a least a little lip to help keep water in, instead of running off the top.

If you don't know what some of the above abbreviations mean, look here: (Heck, look here anyway.) http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-growing/134670-what-does-everything-mean.html

I think they look very healthy, I do agree with getting the hps if possible, if not i would pack as many lights as you can in there and keep them all within 2 inches of the tops. Good luck!

I'm not highly skilled at MJ plant identification, but I"m guessing mostly indica. Kinda bushy instead of long and tall.

Grow area filling in real nice. Try applying a little Liquid Light, and watch them babies stretch for the heavens.
