my son has been nagging me to take him carp fishing, it's bloody cold and not ideal carp fishing weather, it's better in the summer, but i've got suitable clotheing a big thermos of homemade potato and chili soup and 10 joints rolled, so all i need is a bit of luck and today should be a good relaxing day just hope the sun comes out, and the big fish are hungary.:D

He's 14 and is fishing and sports mad, which is good, because it keeps him fit and off the streets with the idiots.

I've got today off - i would have loved to come with you! Havnt been fishing since before christmas.
Last time i went carp fishing was october or november to tylers common in upminster.
I dont know how the weather is for you, but it's blue sky, sunny but the wind chill factor makes it damn cold!
Well, i hope you guys catch a biggun! :D
Only caught 1 small carp about 4lb and the nipper had 1 about 7lb but i got nicely stoned, the sun was out so it was all good.Upminster near Romford lol. last time i was in upminster was in the old bill shop being charged with drunk and disorderly and assault on a copper.i would have been more happier fishing.:D

snagging season just ended here, for those of you who dont know what it is google it (its a style of fishing used to control over stocking, named from the baitless, lurerless hooks). the first day out I caught close to 100 with the smallest being about 8 pounds. I got so drunk I jumped in the lake 10 minutes later I was sober and in deep water dogging hooks that look like some kind of torture device. I had enough trout to feed a couple armies, now their is mabey 30 pounds left. good stuff with pico de gallo or deep fried, or in tacos, I even gave some to some one who smoked em and that was insanly good, a bagel with some cream cheese and a few cappers.

That's seriously unlucky, I lived in upminster for over 20 years and only ever saw the lights on in the police station about 5 times. Felt completely secure smoking at the bus stop outside.
I haven't been fishing since i started smoking but now i think i should go again once it gets a bit warmer out.

sorry... I'm a yankee who's a bit confused.. why in the world would you fish for carp? I mean you'd probably get a tastier dinner with more of a plant snag rather than basically a swimming snag... Are your carp tasty for some reason? I can't imagine a bottomfeeder being very tasty.. although we do eat catfish..
Oh, question for Weedmaster, sorry, differnt topic, where did you get that cool little greenhouse you grow lowryder 2 in?

from experience i believe many people who fish fish for recreation, i personally enjoy that with 50 dollars you can start a hobby, it is also a way to connect with the outdoors, relieve stress, and if you know what your doing get a trophy fish. And i think the point of fishing for carp is either cause they are a common fish for their area, or they pose a challenge in which a carp or 2 is your goal and dont mind fishing for other fish, such as bass, or varieties of sunfish. and this thread is 31 days old, why post? but i hope that fills you in and gets the authors purpose for fishing correct.

lol, carp fishing in england is purely for sport. carp give a good fight and grow to a decent size 40lb plus.
the greenhouse for my lr2 was bought from a local garden center, but would be very easy to make:jointsmile:

Ah cool cool, that makes sense. Everyone I ever talk to here just laughs at seeking out carp, it's a bad thing to catch here, we see it as a waste of time but then again most people where I'm from fish for small trout, maybe 12 inches long.
jimmy, I was mainly trying to get in contact with weedmaster, this was one of his more recent threads so I posted after reading it!
Weedmaster, could ya tell me what the "glass" is?

it's not glass' it's poly carbonate, which is a plastic mainly used in the u.k for conservatory roofs, it's very strong but light and easy to work with. they make it in 2ply, 3 ply and 4ply each ply is a layer of plastic with a small gap inbetween each sheet of plastic, 2ply is the thinest and cheepest and is ideal, 3and 4 ply are a bit too thick but you could probally use any plastic that is rigid, just make sure you pre drill any holes before screwing as otherwise the plastic might split, you don't have that problem with polycarbonate. the frame is made from alluminum, but thats also expensive, so you would be better of useing 50mm x 50mm timber, hope that's some help to you zlessley:jointsmile:

Yup big help, I put glass in quotations because I knew it wasn't glass, but wasn't sure exactly what it was. Definitely setting this up this year! Got some TrainwreckXOGKush to try :D
