Are there such things as State and Federal felonies?

I'm on the diversion program for a 5th degree controlled substance felony in Minnesota (MN). I got caught with a QP.

What I'm wondering is if this is a federal charge or just a state charge... is there a difference between State and Federal felonies?

Yes there's a big difference. Yours is a state charge, not federal.

If you had taken that shit across state lines then it would be a federal crime. Simple possession is under the radar of the DEA, they care more about cultivation and transporting large amounts of shit.
