View Full Version : Seedling root broken

I was dipping my little sprouts tail into some liquid rooting gel
but when I attempted to drop it back into the soil I applied too much
pressure and broke off 1/3 of the length from the tip, it's 1cm long total.

Should I germinate another seed or will it keep growing??? I was just
being impatient since I just got my lights.

You took your seedling out of the soil to apply rooting agent and tried to put it back into the soil???? I think that in itself is a big no no. I could be wrong but I never heard of that. If you broke the main tap root I doubt it will grow\recover. I would germ new seeds in some basic non-nuted soil and leave it alone for a while. Don't add no nutrients till you see atleast 4 nodes!!! I'm pretty sure rooting gel is for clones/cuttings only. I think for seedling you would only want to add b1 but is not necessary.

ya, i thought since the plant was growing slower than my other seedlings i thought i'd
put rooting gel on it
i noticed it made one of my other seedlings that i tried it on grow faster but i probably fucked
it up for good
anyone else have something to say?

Your seedlings should have all the hormones they need to grow. Not all seedlings grow at the same rate- you'll always get a runty one in a batch. Always try to avoid messing with young plants too much. It's just SO stressful for them. Patience, grasshoppa! :D

lol @ grasshopper
actually i just peeked at it again (i know, i can't stop!)
it seems the root has grown :O and the cotyledon has parted even more than it has
i actually have it in a double cup container in a pot on the stove on super low with another
cup (all plastic drinking cups) over the bottom container to contain humidity and heat
i think it's working because the soil feels like a warm bath to my fiinger

Mmmm...steamed seedlings. Gonna use as a garnish, or just to add color to the dish?
Might want to read as much as possible, and would suggest not cooking the poor thing. If it feels warm to your touch, the soil might well be at or above 99 degrees. Heat, moisture, stagnant air...add 'em up and you greatly increase chances of mold.
Also, the more you mess with them, the more stress you add to their attempts at growth.

I'm not the idiot that is digging up fershly popped seedlings...nor am I the idiot that is steaming their plant.

I'm the idiot that thought, thru excessive frivolity , that I could point-out a few problems with your assinine techniques. If you continue dicking with the plant, especially during early stages, you will continue to fail.

Good luck on your future attempts.

No peaking! ;)

Seriously though what you're doing is bad. Let it grow! Uncovering it to "see if its growing" isn't going to make it grow faster or get better, therefore you should be giving it the best chance you can by leaving it the fack alone :D

Peace and goodluck man, oh lol@ steaming I won't ask :D

Peace x 2

Enough. Be nice. This is no way to treat the noobs. We are all here to learn. One person's mistakes are a lesson for all of us.
