I didnt get much sleep last night, and usually thats nothing to complain about. I was kept awake under different circumstances then normal, I had a good friend who didnt want to go home and I happen to have been moving my house around so we just slept together in the same bed in my guest bedroom. He crashed as soon as he hit the bed and he snored all night long. I mean like a locomotive train full steam ahead with chooooo choooo.

First of all is was annoying and it scared me because it sounded like he stopped breathing here and there. I am wondering how people get in bed with someone every night who snores so loud? I laid awake for most of the night plotting a way to get out of bed and not wake him up, I even considered giving him a reason to be wide awake and keep him from falling back asleep (ok I did try, I am anwry like that). I not only was not able to sleep, I was not able to discreetly escape or arouse him, can you feel my frustration ladies? If you have been through it how did you make it work, like this is my back up man and I never knew he snored because we never got any sleep before. It occured to me I dont get any sleep with my main man, what if he snore too? Is there a cure or should I invest in ear plugs?

Why do friends who always do it, just out of the blue not do it one night? Maybe thats whats more frustrating to me?

I know it's been a few weeks, but I just read this.

Anyhow sounds like he has sleep apnea - one of my family members has it. He snores like a freight train (I can hear him 4 rooms away), and stops breathing throughout the night.

The only 'cure' for this is getting him to go to a sleep clinic, getting properly diagnosed with it, and getting a nighttime breathing machine (can't remember what they're called ?). It's a little tube you put in your nose that's connected to the machine, it basically forces you to continue breathing all night long by blowing air in through your nose.

The guy I work with has sleep apnea, he said since he's gotten the machine, his wife doesn't wear earplugs at all anymore. He had originally purchased custom made earmolds for her (musicians earmolds) to block out the sound of him snoring. He also said he has a lot more energy, doesn't fall asleep anymore throughout the day (he used to take naps during the day here, whenever we had a free 20 minute break without patients), and just feels a lot better overall.

Ear plugs!! I swear to God, its the only reason my hubby and I don't sleep in separate rooms!!! :(
I LOVE my ear plugs! Now I can sleep all night, and I don't hear him once!

Sleep apnea drastically raises the chances of heart trouble! My hubby has apnea and uses a CPAP machine. Here's an article about TEENS with sleep apnea and the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and more!

Teens with sleep apnea at risk for heart disease - Sleep - MSNBC.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20606564/)

If it can do that to kids, think what it does to the older folks! And gals, it is WAY easier to sleep with the sound of a CPAP than it is to sleep with snoring! He's not going to like it, though, but have him google "sleep apnea, heart disease" and he'll go along with it!
