Greetings all. Has anyone had experience growing in a 4x4x4 box with 1000W HID in an air cooled hood reflector (with glass)?

I've been reading and reading until my eyes bleed and can find nothing. I'm kinda stumped on ventilation.

the first thing you should do is read the FAQ's on the site...

You need some more height to consider a large HID. For that space, a 600 air cooled over a sea of green style grow (rooted clones flowered at only 4-6" tall) is a better choice. Teh appropriate footprint for a 1000HPS is 5x5 with at LEAST 6 feet of head room and a 6" blower on the exhaust- not a duct booster either, a badass canfan style blower. Happy growin.

I was afraid of that stinkyattic. I'm going to do a scrog so I'm also concerned about the space between the scrog screen and the light. It doesn't leave a lot of room for growth.

Under 4 feet you are REALLY limited:
-hydro is out since the equipment itself stands minimum 18" off the floor, unless you do a res OUTSIDE the room and have an active return to the res rather than depending upon gravity
-large plants are out because of not only their stature, but the root ball needed to maintain them.
You say you are doing a SCROG- many small plants or few large ones? Root ball/pot size again.
You have some options:
-Buy rooted cuttings from a reputable source and just run SOG under a hps600 (pushing it for that space but it depends how bad ya want it)
-Find a second grow area where you can maintain a soil mother under 24 hours of light and take cuttings off her
-Consider a t5 flourescent grow using a pair of 4' x 12" fixtures mounted right up against the roof of the space, or even 3 or them, or a whole mess of shop lights with t8 'daylight' bulbs- my buddy used to veg under a canopy of I think a half dozen shop lights mounted on rails- it was indeed bright, lol!
-build a freestanding grow tent with more head space? :D

prob not, as stinky said not enough head room, with the 1000watt and size of the pots you only have about 2' of growing plant material, thats not good in my eyes either

need more height .6' should be doable

as for the 4x4 you should be getting way over 50watts per square foot which is excellent

Thanks Texas. I think I'll go with 6' of height. By the way, I'm doing a soil scrog....haven't decided the number of plants yet, I'm thinking 4. Any thoughts?

i have a grow box set up that is only 3'x2'x30" and i am setting up a 1000 watt hps but i have the glass and fans on both sides of the fan. I just make sure i have plenty of airflow

anyways it seems to me like your on the right track thanks to the supreme advice given on this site!
i just recently finished my first indoor grow. i got 72.3 grams from one plant under a 250 switchable in a cabinet that is roughly
15" by 23" by 40" using organic soil and ferts. keep us posted on ur progress! and keep an eye out for my upcomin second grow on a white widow clone complete with pics!
