Well this is my first grow and this morning I had 4 new smiling faces lookin up at me.

My room consists of 1-400W MH and 1-400W HPS. Temp is at 27 C and humidity is at a consistant 40%. Lamps positioned 22-26 inches above the babies and the area is surrounded in foil. Any suggestions?

I'd pass cigars but I don't know whether to get "It's a boy or It's a girl".....Happy smokin and growin!!! :D

Congrats ! You might want to be careful about the foil,it can focus light onto your plants and burn em,like a magnifying glass,do ya have an oscillating fan ? How much is 27 C ? I'm an old-fashioned American..I don't care for them there european measurements..lol.

I've got the fan set up but not going yet. 27C is about 80 F. I've heard that about foil but in most of the pics in the forum it shows people using foil. Is this because of a lower wattage situation?

80 degrees is a bit too hot..you need to lower that down to at least 78 - 76 degrees,if not more. Once the plant comes up-then ya can turn on the fan and it should help lower the tempature. Just be sure to bounce that fan stream around so that it's not blowing directly on your plant.

Lol..I got confused as to which post I was answering..if I said anything that doesn't make sense..now you know why..lol. I tried editing,and got some changed-but ran out of time..dang it. When you're using hid light,the intensity is such,that it can bounce off foil and burn the plants..I even had it happen with a 70w hps..so just be careful.

My first crop is Northern Lights. If this goes well do you have any suggestions as to my next....I was thinking either Haze or White Widow. :D

That's a good first crop,from what I hear. I'm pretty sure,that Haze is sativa dominant and the WW is indica dominant,the Haze takes more room and more time to finish,and can be a bit difficult for a beginner,whereas,the indica dominant strains are shorter,easier to grow and don't require as much light as Haze strains do,and are easier to grow for the beginner. I think that you should git some more experience with the NL's first,and tweak your growroom set-up more..so that you can control temps,humidity etc,more precisely.

the foil has two sides......if you put it from the ''dull' side then your plants are ok.....if you put it from the ''shiny'' side then you face a possible hazard as you can crate in this way hot spots that can burn the leaves.....it is ok to blow the fan directly on to your plants.....the air flows towards the plant and shakes the leaves,stems, the plant altogether.....for every action there is a reaction.....action:air shakes the plant (not too much though) , reaction:the plant grows healthier, stronger, more compact in order to be able to resist more powerful winds in the future....the root system is healthier and bigger in order to support such a structure.....i am not an expert, i am in my first grow as well.....have done all these and within 6 weeks from seed i have seen growth of 2 ft in 4 out of 9 plants that i have......also....your temp is optimal.....optimal temp for veg is between 27C-30C....the humidity 40% that you have can be a bit higher for veg.....for flowering optimal temp is 20C-25C and humidity 30-40%.....the lights you have are good (i have only a 400 HPS).....again you can approach them closer to the plants if you put the fan blowing directly to the top of the plants......
