View Full Version : Question About Plant Material In Your Lungs From Vaporizing

As I've mentioned in my Herbalaire post, I have been vaping for a couple of months now. I haven't been able to find any info about my question and I'm wondering if anyone knows or has any thoughts on this.
What happens to the little bits or particles of plants that we inhale when vaporizing?
For example, when my erb gets near the end, it's quite dry. I'll usually give it a bit of a stir or poke to break it up a little to get the last bit of vapor out of it. When I do this, I usually get bits of the erb on my tongue. Not lots of it but usually a few little bits. I assume that when we're inhaling, lots of this type of stuff goes into our lungs.
Obviously, it's nowhere near as bad for your lungs as the carcinogens or tar or anything else. However, should I / we be worried about what happens to the plant matter that goes into our lungs? Will it collect over time or just dissolve by our body breaking it down in our lungs? Is it bad for our lungs?
Any thoughts?

You probably just cough it out. I wouldn't worry about it. It's just weed.

If you are getting particles, you are using your vaporizer wrong.
You should not get any particles at all. That's the whole point of vaporizing.

I thought the exact same thing...
maybe you should try using a screen or something?

Thanks for some feedback.
I'm using my vaporizer properly. I get it from bags or direct inhale. They're very tiny particles of plant when it's really dried out. Only happens when the erb is pretty much spent. The screen in the Herbalaire can't possibly catch everything. Again, it only happens when I break it up and it gets all crumbly. I'm sucking in the plant powder.
I'm just wondering if it's bad to have that stuff in your lungs. Will it accumulate or just decompose and absorb into my lungs?

i doubt any negligible(is that how that is spelled?) "plant matter" actually makes it into your actual lungs..

The lungs will easilly absorb (digest) tiny bit's like that with no problem at all.
You probably inhale 100 times more bits & pieces when You go out for Your daily paper.
Now can I use solid hash in a Herbalaire? Ta :)

Your lungs constantly clean themselves, so you dont have to worry about trivial specks accumulating.

Sorry, but that was ridiculous. Your lungs can't (digest) anything; it's not apart of your digestive system... It, however, is lined with millions of small hairs (cilia) that constantly move debris out of the lungs and into your pharynx, where you can swallow it or cough it out. And at the levels ingested using a vaporizer, you can be sure that your lungs will have an easy time. Hell, they can clear the after-effects of smoking, so vaporized bits aren't an issue.

I've heard this a few times from other people, and wouldn't you know it everyone of them used to be hardcore cigarette smokers. I think the tickle from inhaling particulates may be more uncomfortable for those of us who have been "knee-capping" our cilia with carbon monoxide and nicotine for long periods of time.
Anyway, I don't have this problem with my Volcano, but I've noticed that once in a blue moon when I take it apart for cleaning, the internal portions of the valve have a greenish/brown buildup of what is basically resin mixed with fine ground plant dust. So something solid is leaving the chamber, it just collects in the valve or in the bag. Never had a single issue with actually inhaling chunky bits, thankfully.
That buildup I mentioned - I combined it all into a small ball of my own vape-hash, and roasted it in a pipe with a friend awhile ago. HOLY HELL! :stoned: Not a long lasting buzz, but quite a kick.
