My grow room is about 1000 cubic ft. Have 20 plants growing, and they are about to get really stinky. Grow room is in the basement, no windows. What would be the most effective odor control for this setup?

If you can find a place to vent outside I would use a 6" vortex fan and scrubber. That would do the trick.:rasta::rastasmoke::pimp:

I guess I could connect it to the dryer vent, but that is about 25 ft. away. Is that a problem?

should have no problem with the distance, just try not to have many bends in the exhaust hose as it will reduce the flow alittle. if you have your odor exhaust on by itself i would think it would be good to suck in through your filter and blowing out your dryer vent

I have the same question I am getting ready to grow in my closet its 4x8 10 tall.. And I was thinking about 4-6 plants.. I was told for the smell to use one or two of those ionic air filter things that are on the infomercials.. I was just wondering if it would work..:stoned:

Forget about them. Stick with carbon filters and you can vent anywhere you like and they last a long time and require no cleaning.

these work great ! still using a pair I bought about 2 yrs ago ... Air Purifiers (http://www.1000bulbs.com/Air-Purifiers/) ... of course, they can only be on during the 'daylight' cycle, or in adjoining area ... warm, flowering spectrum, too

quick question about those, I am setting up a cabinet style setup inside and armoire, and I was looking at a GrowBright 4" Inline Fan & Elf Carbon Filter Combo.. I was wondering can I just mount that inside the cabinet and it will suck the air into the filter that way I don't have to run any ventilation outside the cabinet and or out the window.. That may look suspicous and because I pretty much can't I live in an apartment complex..
The armoire area is 3 foot wide 2 foot deep and 5 foot tall.. I want to have at least 6 plants in a hydro home made 5 gallon setup and then I also have a seperate veg and clone area about the same size, so basically I have to vent a 6x2x5 area will a 4in do it or should I step up to a 6 in

If the carbon filter is prohibitively expensive/noisy and you already have proper ventilation, you might try getting away with just a VaporTek 4000 like a lot of people do. That's what I'm doing with just a handful of stinkers, but now my place only smells like a bubblegum hospital!

I know grey1223 said otherwise but I've witnessed a room with about 30-40 plants all done with the ionic breeze type machines populating the room without much smell at all. This was done in an apt. in Boston mind you so I'm inclined to say you are able to do it.
A little fun fact: the person was actually going on tour with Kid Rock (band suck but still pretty cool).

I would say your best bet is to purchase and air purifier that will cover the square footage of the basement. I found a great one that doesn't cost much and supposibly covers up to 3,500 square feet.... MAMMOTH AIR 1000 (http://bit.ly/50MZE1) :hippy:

I've got a UVONAIR 3000, my grow space is about 10x10 and it does a pretty good job of eliminating the smell i would say, but near the end of flowering, it doesn't do the job, my plants just reek hella bad and it cant keep up with cleaning the air, and you cant leave it on all the time, i have it set to come on in intervals of 15 mins every hour. and theres still a pretty strong smell of weed after that, not as strong as it would be tho without anything thats for sure, during veg an early flowering tho, up til late flowering, it does a good job.
