I have been reading on Spinosad and it's efficacy against Thrips.
Saferbrand carry's a Fire Ant Bait which contains Spinosad however I haven't been able to find anything in local Canadian stores.
Does anyone know of a common name product that contains this "ingredient"?
I found this:
Monterey Garden Insect Spray (Spinosad) (http://www.planetnatural.com/site/monterey-garden-insect.html)
but no shipping to Canada.
Any suggestions or alternatives? Thrips piss me off....

Never tried the spinosad yet.
I battled thrips for a long time and this is how I killed them:
Pyrethrin based bug bombs, set off at 4-5 day intervals, 2 or 3 times. Even Raid makes one. It's in a blue and yellow box. DON'T USE IT PAST WEEK 3 OF FLOWER!!!! This allows you to kill larvae that are only just emerging from the protection of the plant's meristem, and adults that are just coming out of the soil instar.
Mist lightly with neem every week to help prevent reinfestation.
Alternate with a pyrethrin based spray.
I am hearing excellent things about spinosad btw.

Sorry I forgot to mention, break the little fuckers' life cycle while you're at it.
They depend upon exposed soil to pupate into the sexual adult stage.
Take a styrofoam plate. Cut a slit to the center. Slip it over the top of the pot, leaving plenty of space for air flow, but blocking the mature larvae from dropping off the leaves onto the soil surface to complete their life cycle. Physical intervention, no chems!
