Lowryder Flowering Question

Ive got a couple LR2's half way through flowering. I understand that they are supposed to flower just fine on 24 hrs. of light... however I've read that some prefer to switch them to 18/6 during the final few weeks.
Q. Does anyone know for sure this is actually helpfull?
