Hey Herbalairers! :)
I thought I'd start a page where we can contribute our reviews, opinions and tips for this great device.
Before I start, I know that there are many bogus "reviews" out there. I am in no way affiliated with any vapor company. I'm an average, erb loving peaceful father and husband. For reasons I describe later, I just want to contribute to the vapor revolution.
I'll start.....
I've had my Herbalaire for a week now. I used to smoke daily. Then I started to use a bong because I wanted to be healthier. However, now that I've found vaping, I'll never go back.
I started my vaping experience with a knock off of a Vapor Brothers whip style vape. I tried it for a month and still wasn't satisfied. I just couldn't seem to find the right temps, as there was no temp gauge on the dial. I found my vapor to be smoky, rather than vapor. Or sometimes I would get no vapor at all. I was getting an effect but it was a big effort and I rarely felt like I was really vaping.
Until now. As I mentioned, I've had my Herbalaire for a week now. It heats up FAST. Let's say 2 minutes MAX MAX MAX. Put the crucible (bowl) in the unit. Once it's warm, start inhaling the good vapors. You can also use the bags and air pump too like a Volcano but I like the direct inhale method.
I find that vaping gives me a nice clean high. My cough is gone and my lungs feel great already (although I started feeling better when i started vaping, not because of the Herbalaire). I'm just sad I didn't discover vaping sooner. I still like taking a rip off the bong once in a while when I feel like getting that stoner / couch lock feeling. Unfortunately, I find my mouth and breath taste like an ashtray when I'm done. It's quite disgusting now but I still like the feeling it gives me once and a while.
Here are my tips / cmments so far:
- Put the fresh, unground erb into the crucible and leave it in there for approx 1-2 minutes before you start. You can grind it up but I seem to have better results when the erb is whole.
- I put 2, or maximum 3, pea-sized pieces in the crucible. I get a nice vapor with that amount. I find I use a little more erb than in a bong but I think it's worth it to be healthier and cut out the smoking and carcinogens.
- For direct inhalation, I like to start with 335 to get the flavor of the erb. I can see vapor at that temp. I'll get 2 breaths and then move up 10 degrees. I keep doing this until I get to 375. That's the highest temp I'll do. They say 392 is when the chemical are significant, so I stay on the safe side.
- For the bag method, I just haven't used it enough to have any tips. I can say this....the bag method works great, I just prefer the direct inhale. Too much clutter with the bags and pump.
- I find that the mouthpice extension gets hot at temps above 355 or 360 when inhaling directly. It's unfortunate. I tried a straw on the end of the extension piece but the straw still got hot. The air is definitely cooler though when you use the straw. I find the vapor a little thinner this way though. Not sure why. I need to test it more.
- Watch out for the crucible. It gets super hot for obvious reasons but cools down FAST. Within a minute or 2. Try to get an extra one if you can so you can reload quickly if need be.
- The pump is slow and a little bit noisy. Easily replaceable though. Only affects you if you prefer the bag method, which many do I've read.
- I basically keep going until my erb is a light chocolate brown or when there's no more vapors at 375. It can also smell of burnt popcorn when it's used up.
- I don't cook with the leftovers but I understand you can use them to cook. Or you can smoke them but that kind of defeats the purpose.
- I also love that there is no smell from vaping. Maybe the air in the room smells a tiny bit like burnt popcorn but nothing even close to smoking. You smell of nothing when you're done either, unlike smoking.
- This whole process does take a little longer than using a bong but no longer than rolling and smoking would take you.
That's about it. I'd like to thank this community because I discovered vaping in this forum and your views and opnions helped me be healthier. I can't thank you all enough for your contributions. I hope my contributions will help some of you too. I'd also like to thank the makers of Herbalaire. While it's not perfect (yet), it's really close and I believe this product will become perfect when further revisions are made.
Anyone else have an Herbalaire and want to contribute to this thread?

Geez, tough crowd.... :)
Ok, well, I'll contribute some more to this thread....
After some more testing, I'll add the following:
- At lower temps like 335 or 345, sometimes it takes a few breaths to get vapor. Because I'm using direct inhale, I think it's just a matter of heating up the erb. Anyways, sometimes I get vapor by the second breath, sometime it takes 3 or 4 breaths to get the vapors flowing. Either way, I always get vapors at these temps.
- I'm still very happy using the direct inhale method. I had a problem with the extension piece on the mouthpiece getting really hot when I am inhaling. So I took the extension off the mouthpiece. Now I just use the mouthpiece. It's a little bigger but it never gets too hot. I take some pretty deep breaths and the mouthpiece doesn't burn my lips at all, unlike the extension.
- I find my self using the bag system when I get all I can from the direct inhale method. I can usually get a bag full of vapors at the end, so I maximize my erb.
- I seem to get my best results from fitting the largest WHOLE PIECE of erb in the crucible that I can fit in there. The crucible is fairly small and I've found the biggest piece I can fit in there is about the size of 2 peas, maybe 3, tops. Again, very important to NOT break up or grind the erb. Give it a stir halfway through the process, maybe even break it up a little, but try to keep it all in one piece.
- I've been smokin this stuff for 10 years. The vaping takes a little getting used to but I'm really beginning to like this high over the smoking method. I find that the high lasts much longer than smoking. I found myself wanting to smoke again after an hour or so. With vaping, I don't feel I need to vape again for maybe 2 or 3 hours.
- I have used this every night for a week and a half now. I feel sooooo much better in the morning. Especially my chest. It just feels clear now, instead of that heavy feeling in my lungs.
That's about all for now. I would love to hear any input from other Herbalaire owners. If not, I'll keep posting my observations. I'm sure there are some of you reading my posts that just don't wanna contribute. I was always like that too but since I got this thing, I just can't help but post my excitement about it.
Happy Vaping!

I don't have a herbalaire, but i do have a vaporizer, its a whip one like you used to have. Its a bit touchy but I like it. I used to use it all the time, then i got a 4 chamber bubbler so ive been using her... idk what else to contribute, but vaping is cool. although its near impossible to do w/ a group as most people can't seem to work the thing

I dont smike either, I use bongs at the moment but of course they kill my lungs.
Thinking about getting a Herbalaire but with living in England & not having much money I am forced to use only solid product as opposed to fresh erb's.
Now does anybody have any idea if vaporizers can deal with this sort of product? & also, having read many reviews on vaporizing I still cant get a clear picture of what the effects are like, I like the bong heavyness, You know, I like to be wrecked at night & I hear its just not the same, in fact some say its rather difficult to know if You've got a hit or not, this worries me as $250 dollars is actually a hell of a lot of money for me.
Anyway, Thanks very much in advance

I've never used the Volcano but I just can't imagine anything better than the Herbalaire. I use the direct inhale and it works a million times better than the whip method. The bag system is slower than the volcano but that could be fixed with getting a faster pump. I believe that the Herbalaire is a better product than the Volcano because it gives you 2 ways to vape, instead of just one. It's also half the price.

The herbalAire is most efficient and will vape solid as well as any vape on the market and better than most. I would use small pieces though, and not just toss a big chunk in.
I like the bong heavyness Bong, pipe, joint, whatever-the difference is not so much in the smoke delivery system as the fact that it's smoke. I assume that by "heavyness" you mean lethargy, stupor, couchlock. The big contributors to this effect are toxins, mainly carbon monoxide and benzene, that are released at high vaping temps and with smoke. Too much of either one of these highly poisonous compounds will put you to sleep permanently. Some people also prefer moonshine to legally (and safely) produced booze. They like the extra 'kick' they get from methanol or other poisons. Vaporizing in the 'safe' temp range will avoid most toxins and your high will have much less of the sleepy effect. Many people have noted (including me) that their first good high from a vape was as good or better than any smoking session they ever had. But it's definitely a high that lets you retain more energy than a smoking high.
As for not being sure if you got a hit, that's just a result of the smooth and cool vapor vs. harsh smoke. I certainly don't need to choke on smoke to know I got a good dose of THC. I put smoke in my lungs for a lot of years, to the point where I was ready to quit getting high to avoid hurting my lungs. Just couldn't take the smoke anymore.
So if smoke doesn't bother you, and you enjoy the effect of the poisons in it, then stay with smoking. At least as long as your lungs allow. ;)
I use the direct inhale and it works a million times better than the whip method. Not for me. I use my herbalAire almost every day, but I don't enjoy the direct draw. The vapor's too thin. I only use it for a quick hit or two if I'm in a hurry. It doesn't compare IMO to the thick vapor I can get from the SSV or Vapolution. To each his own though. Different tastes make for more choices. :D

Yes but why pay $15 more for shipping when you don't have to.
Vaporizers.ca has the best price if you're in Canada, and buy from them on ebay and they include a free grinder.

Both links are for the same company. Most of the big on-line dealers sell on ebay, usually at a discount and/or with free shipping and/or extras. You won't get the grinder or free shipping buying straight from vaporizers.ca, only through their ebay auctions.
Since the manufacturer ships it in a brown box, I would think you'd get the same from a dealer. There's no big label or anything on the box. If you're worried about someone asking about the box or the sender's address/name, get it delivered to your friend's house.

I use my herbalAire every day and have been for almost 2 yrs. I don't use it much for direct draw but it heats up in a couple of minutes and you can get some quick hits that way. For bag use it's great. I don't like the thicker bags they're supplying with it now. They won't burst if you overfill, but if you get distracted and forget you're filling a bag the vapor will leak out (like a safety valve). I use Toppits oven bags (Reynolds are cheap too) and make different size bags. It's easier and cheaper to make multiple bags than the Volcano, easier to clean, and just as efficient at extracting THC. It does fill slower than the Volcano, but making smaller bags and switching them off compensates. It's got a separate pump so there's more 'stuff' to deal with, but it's not a big deal to me. The pump is pretty quiet and if it should fail just buy an aquarium pump.

Great choice....you're gonna love it....
I've had mine for a couple of months now and use it everyday....I now find myself starting at 355 until there is no more vapor, then I break it up a little and turn up the heat to 360....I keep doing this routine until I get to 370....it always comes out a medium brown and I'm always cooked afterwards....I use 2 pea sized pieces (do not grind them) and it fills the crucible about halfway....I've smoked a couple of times with a bong since I started using it and I'm just disgusted by the taste and smell of smoke now....I can't imagine life without a vaporizer now...my lungs and health have improved dramatically since I stopped smoking.

Those are some big peas :lol5:. How much you use is personal choice according to bag size, number of bags and users, etc., but your warning about not grinding is worth repeating. Not only is it totally unnessary to grind for the herbalAire (it's extremely efficient at penetrating and vaporizing the bud), it's better to use pieces so that no finely ground herb gets either down below the heating chamber or up into or past the screen.

Greetings My Fellow Friends....
I am 49 years of age and have smoked the MJ Herb for nearly 35 years. The last few years have been hard on my lungs and I have constant bouts with chronic bronchitis.
I have a very stressful job and I have always relied upon having high quality smoke available to relieve the stress. I grow my own herb and am very pleased with it's quality. However, even with using the best bong in the world, I still get sinus infections and my bronchitis eventually begins to act up...it is not pleasant to say the least...
Therefore, I intend to order the HerbalAire early next week from a particular distributor in California. They are on back order and should arrive sometime next week....
I have never Vaporizied before and am hoping that I am making a good choice for the money. The Volcano is a little too much for me to spend at this time.
Also, I wanted to know from some old timers if there is any compromise with the mellow high that one receives from smoking good herb? It appears that if I do not smoke in a few days, I really have a hard time sleeping and become irratible to some extent. Will the high be compromised and be less pleasant that smoking?
Please if someone could advise me in regard to my concerns and choice of Vaporizer it would be really appreciated...
Thank you,
Lifesrun

You will love vapor in comparison to smoke. I had bad bouts of bronchitis when I was a kid, and until the last few years colds would frequently get into my chest and make me miserable. I quit smoking cigs over ten years ago but mj smoke was bothering me to the point where I thought I'd have to give up weed entirely. Vapor is sooo much easier on the lungs. No more smoker's cough, I've got a lot more wind for exercise-I love it.

Yes you made a good choice. I've been using mine for almost two years. HerbalAire has great customer service. It's just as efficient as the Volcano at extracting the good stuff, and although slower to fill a bag, it's cheaper to make and use multiple bags. Set it for about 370 and all your herb will end up fully cooked-brown and crispy. I use different sized bags. I usually fill a small one first and suck on that while another is filling. I recommend getting some extras. I've got extra main mouthpieces (not a good name-you don't put your mouth on it), extensions, and crucibles (bowls), so I can always swap out for clean ones. Crucibles can go for years without needing to be cleaned, but they're easy to accidentally squash, at least for me. The only part I soak in alcohol is the main mouthpiece (for the screen). If you clean the heating chamber with alcohol, make sure you turn the unit upside down, unplug, and leave it for a few min. to dry. You don't want any kind of liquid to get down below the chamber.

Vapor doesn't suck the energy out of you nearly as much as smoking. It's a cleaner high, avoiding sleep inducing toxins. So although vaping just before bedtime doesn't really keep me awake, it does often delay me from going to bed. I find that a couple of hours after a vaping session I'm sleepy and ready to crash for the night.

is it a good idea to use burned weed? You know when you roach joints, then you take the remaining weed out and vape that? is that good for you? i have couple of roaches here for a rainy day.
You could but I wouldn't recommend it in your new herbalAire. It could get a little messy and the taste would be pretty bad. I wouldn't used finely ground weed in it either, at least not without an additional screen in the bottom of the crucible and another near the top. You don't want little particles getting below the heat chamber or up into the screen on the main mouthpiece and even into your bag. This vape will do great with small pieces and that's what I'd use if possible. The herbalAire is a fine piece of equipment and should last for many, many years....if you take care of it.
If you want to vape roaches I suggest a cheap glass vape like the Vapolution Pocket Vaporizer or the Ubie. Even better use a pipe and smoke 'em. ;)

Careful with the crucible. It's squashable. I've stepped on a couple. Luckily I bought extras. And if the bags are like the ones they were using 6-8 months ago, they're pretty thick and won't burst if you overfill, but they'll leak vapor and air when full like a safety valve if you let it fill too long.

Here's the review......
The unit itself is alot smaller than I expected, which is a good thing, it's kinda cute. I don't mind the two plugs or the pump. I have a bit of a struggle when one bag is sorta full to change to the next one, but I am pretty sure I'll get the hang of it. One of the bags leaks a bit at the top, so I don't let it get to full. I wish I had bought an extra holder thingie.....it's easier to understand how the unit works after you see it.....I bought it on spec and didn't want to pay out more money before I knew if it would work. Hind sight!!!!!
As for comparing it to other units, the only experience I have with any of these is the VP200 or the BC vap, I am sure they work, but not for me. Not patience enough for that....I am going to give it someone. I am in NS....
So, how is it! I love it.......I am 48 and can't handle the joint thing anymore. Hate the idea of smoking, I quit cigs 15 years ago and my lungs are still shot, so I wanted another way. I have been using this for help with pain. It works, one pea size if I want to get help with pain and be able to type or move around.
I would say the smell is a lot less, and it tastes better. I like the buzz much better, cleaner, which I couldn't understand until I used it.
It is a crap load of money to put out for this unit, but no regrets here! It uses way less product, easier on the lungs and its cute!
What more can I say. If anyone has a question, ask away, I'll see if I can help out.

as far as vaporizers go, I LOVE my HerbalAire  ... I can see no reason to spend more $$$ to buy a Volcano ... they seem to be very well-made, and durable ... as to wanting to fill your bags faster, you could always buy a slightly larger aquarium airpump (but don't overdo it, as you may move too much air for the heating element to keep up with) ...

Hey first post here, but I had a question about the Herbalaire. I got mine a few weeks ago and I'm pretty pleased with it, but not completely. I hadn't smoked since I got my herbalaire until the other day and the high I got from the joint i smoked was a whole hell of a lot better than what I've been getting from my vaporizer. Same weed too, which unfortunately isn't very good this time around, but I'm probably spoiled (from Northern California). They're probably mids. Anyway, any hints or suggestions as to why I may not be getting that high? I set the temp to around 340 and work up to 375. Thanks!
vapefiend
04-06-2008, 04:29 PM
I set mine at 370 and leave it. It's the best range for max THC and minimum toxins. Are you using direct draw? That's not the best way to use this vape. You will get vapor that way, but the hits are small and thin because of the small airway in the moutpiece extension. If you're getting vapor but not the high you want, I'd say you'd be out of luck with any vape. You won't get much of the couchlock feeling with vapor. The vast majority of herbalAire buyers are very happy with it.
You've made 3 posts on 3 different threads, all saying pretty much the same thing. Stick with one post on one thread, and if your question doesn't get the answer you need, ask for more info on the same thread.

I like direct inhale the best and I find that if I use the mouthpiece extension, I don't get the hits I want....I find them too thin....I do not use the mouthpiece extension (the skinny one) on top of the fat one that goes on top of the unit....I inhale from the fat mouthpiece and I get good thick hits for the most part....I find it a bit hotter on my throat but I've gotten used to it....drink water every other hit....see if that works better for you....I start vaping with my Herbalaire at 360 and when there's no more vapor, I break up the herb a little and turn it up to 365.....when there's no more vapor, I dump the rest....hope it works out for you!

The cardboard box that my herbalaire came in is falling apart, plus its a pain sometimes to get everything in there. Anyone bought a travel case for theirs? The only ones i'm finding online are for volcanos.
Also, it's time for me to replace the bags (they're leaking). I think i've read you can use oven bags? The replacement bags on the herbalaire website are over $6 a piece so I'd rather not go that route.

Okay, I bet I'm posting this in the wrong place or something, and if so sorry, but you guys (particularly vapefiend and phlups ) seem to know a lot about the Herbalaire and I'M STUCK! :(
I chose the Herbalaire after much reading of the threads on canabis.com (great site!), and received it last weekend. I've now tried to use it every day since and I'm getting nothing - zilch.
I'm putting about a big pea-sized amount in the crucible then (and I downloaded all of this thread to get temps and stuff), I'm setting it to about 330 and going up from there in increments of five.
I've only managed to actually see vapor once, when I was using direct inhale. I've not seen anything in the bag, at any temperature. When I saw it once - and I mean once; one exhale - I still didn't get anything in terms of even a slight buzz. In the end, I 'vaped' about six times my normal amount and was mind-bogglingly sober (and more than a little depressed).
When I empty the crucible, the weed is toasted (even burned once or twice) so something must be happening, it just ain't getting to me!
Any advice?
Oh, I normally smoke it, probably a max of six or so a week (not a lot), and haven't been doing that very long.
I was wondering whether the freshness of the herb might be the problem? Moisture content etc?
Please help me! I'm ready to send it back. :(

Hmmmmm.....wierd.
I guess I should update my technique, as it has changed since I last wrote in this thread. I still only use the direct inhale method, straight from the mouthpiece, not using the extension. I fill the crucible half full. I turn up my heat to 365. Once the yellow light comes on, I begin. I inhale very slowly. The first hit is usually no vapor, just taste. The next 5 - 7 hits are vaporlicious!
It sounds odd that you're seeing no vapor but your remains are toasted. Maybe you have a defective unit?
I grind my herbs. I know it says not to but I find I get better vapor with grinding.
I find it takes me about 10 - 15 mins from start to finish.
I've been smoking for 10 years and 1 year of vaping and I'm baked after a session.
Maybe it's the quality of your herb?

I've never had a problem getting vapor with mine (except when I forget to turn the pump on). I don't know if you have the new, thinner herbalAire bags or not (they told me they were getting rid of the thick bags), but the thick ones didn't get a real tight seal on the connector, and if you left the bag on too long during the fill process, the vapor would leak out. Even so, you should be seeing vapor going into the bag. Even thin vapor, where you hardly see it in the bag, should give you good hits that you can see (in the right light) on exhale.
I would contact herbalAire if you continue to get no vapor. Brown remains is a sure sign of vaporization, so you just need to figure out where your vapor is going. herbalAire has great service, so I'm sure they'll get it figured out or fixed for you.

Hey Guys. Thanks for the replies. I e-mailed herbalaire last week and haven't gotten a reply yet. I've tried again today.
I see no vapor at all phlups; just that once, and it was very thin. I'm no great judge of herbs, but my friend who got this for me really is, and he rates this one - and I have to admit I only need about three tokes on a roll-up to be cruising (even on the stuff that's been toasting in the herbalaire for about twienty minutes).
I'm really hoping that it's the unit that's faulty, because it has such a great following otherwise.
My other query was, could it be that I have no tobacco in the mix? I generally smoke mine, but I've had herb roll-ups made with that fake tobacco and didn't really seem to get a hit from that either (could be 'cos it was my third consecutive roll-up though, which is never the same hit). Has anyone tried mixing tobacco with their weed and vaping it? I know that kinda defeats the object of vaping, but I thought maybe if I tried it, it would rule my topbacco habit out? Maybe I'm just mixing couch-lock up with getting high (seriously, I'm not, but I'm clutching at straws here!). You've both smoked for a long time before you vaped - how different was it? And how immediate? Smoking is bam! and it's there, but I think vaping is slower isn't it?
Thanks guys; I really need to get to the bottom of this. My lungs will love you forever :)

Well, I think you must have a defective unit. Keep on emailing or calling Herbalaire. They really have great customer service.
Don't put tobacco in with your herbs in the Herbalaire. There's no need and tobacco vaporizes at a much higher temperature too. You should be able to put a small amount in the crucible (half full max) and when the light turns yellow, start inhaling slowly. After the first inhale, you should be able to see vapor when you exhale.
The only thing I can think of is that you got a defective unit. It sound slike you're doing everything right.
Don't despair, talk to Herbalaire about the problem and they'll help you out. Sorry I can't provide any more help. Good luck.

I have a Herbalaire, and looking at your problem, I can only see one answer - defective herb. If your bag is filling (so you have air passing over it) and your herb is brown (so the active content is definitely being used - even if it were burning this would still be the case) then what is in the bag should do the job. Looking at mine, there is no way air could fill the bag and not pass over the herb, so that just leaves the 'active content' as the suspect.
There is however a totally different feeling vaping than there is smoking and I have mates who swear it's not affecting them when everyone else is dribbling - even though they look hammered - and aren't satisfied until they smoke some.
Incidentally, I only use mine for direct draw, set at about 285C and I find this uses nearly all the good stuff, while keeping it cool and smooth. Anything higher seems to be mostly smoke - good vapour is nigh on invisible.
I have a Volcano I use for bags (Herbalaire was WAY too much hassle), and I run this at the same temp. Again, there probably is something good left in the leavings, but I gave some to a friend to smoke when he was dry, and he barely got a buzz out of smoking a lot of it, so it's definitely not much and I only get top quality stuff.
I've done a fair bit of experimenting with temperatures and found that the same mates who 'swear it's not affecting them' are a lot happier at the higher temperatures where you can 'feel' the vapour and it becomes more like smoking. I admit when I first started, there was always an unsatisfied feeling, as if something was missing (still get it now, from time to time). I gave up cigarettes about 8 years ago, and it was a very similar feeling to having a pint without a smoke (still get that too, but not very often), so it may be this that you're feeling, and may well have something to do with nicotine withdrawal.
Hope this helps.

The best place to buy the HerbalAire is from Great Vape. Their site is greatvape.storesecured.com I got mine about a month ago and they give great discounts and freebies. I will be ordering all additional supplies from them.
The vaporizer I use on the road is the VaporGenie. It's a portable pipe that takes a little getting used to but it works very well. Also, for those who save their spent herb, it makes a great cookie ingredient.

Don't despair....call HerbalAire. I saw that earlier in the thread and like it. New advertising catch phrase? Ok, maybe not!
I received my device today and it looks good. I burned it off for about 30min. Call it a break in. I do that to all devices of this ilk. Lay of the land as it were. Though having to wait until tomorrow night for the first test run, the anticipation will no doubt be mounting. Ou la la.
My previous device was a" box from the brothers" and that worked very well, until the element decided to go to the cool side. I shall burrow my way inside and see what's what.
Thanks go primarily to this website for assisting in the necessary research, which moved me to purchase the HerbalAire. I think I will go the route of one poster and direct draw without the itty bitty extension. Far too small, especially after utilizing my former device for 1 year. I might even fashion a piece of heat shrink tubing at the top of the mouthpiece if it becomes uncomfortably warm. Thanks again. Happy holiday's.

I've had the HerbalAire for over a year now and hardly use it. Don't get me wrong, I like it, it works fine. I use the Vapor Genie when I'm on the road. It's very portable. But what we've really fallen into is baking cookies. They give you a better body high, deeper and longer lasting. The drawback is that you have to eat them on an empty stomach. I usually eat two. We've gotten into the habit of baking once a week. And we still use the bong now and then. But nowhere near as much as we used to. Our lungs feel great and we still get higher than ever! Try it. Use your own recipe.

Wow....I finally got my initial test run in with my new HerbalAire. I am monumentally disappointed. Whether I try heating low, medium or high, I get very little vapor. And I mean very little. Of course coming from a "box from the Brothers" I understand I will not get the bountiful hits I am use to, however that does little to console me.
The other disappointment is the type of high. A stripped down version of what I am use to. Quite light and very quick to dissipate. Direct, whip, or balloon, all the same. And yes, I tried 4 different strains. The main concern I have is the fact that I get a slight plastic taste, plus it irritates my throat. I feel fine today, but for me, that is slight cause for alarm. Definitely a side glass of water is the smart way to go. I am hoping my unit is simply taking longer to break in. So far, I cannot say that my herb goes farther with this unit.
Today I shall throw in lightly ground herb. Maybe with a smattering of kief on top. Perhaps I will receive better performance. Have to try something different, or this unit will become a doorstop. An expensive doorstop.
The HerbalAire seems well constructed. The various parts seat well too. And as others have stated, it does get hot. I found one little trick for direct draw. Run your tongue back and forth in front of the Teflon piece as you suck in. The tongue flicking assists in creating spittle, which in turn keeps it a bit cooler coming in. Crazy eh? I have a few ideas for modifications, however, that will take a while to get into. To be continued.

Hold the phone. Time out. Ou wee, this time around the block, I am in great spirits. Yes indeed, the little brew I drew has worked to perfection. I could not have requested a better feeling. I must go, for the keyboard is truly jumbling forth. Remember....it doesn't matter if the horse is blind, just keep loading the wagon. 10-4, out!

My, my, how a couple of day's can change a situation! I now seem to have a firm grasp of my new HerbalAire vaporizer.
Humongous difference from the first trial to the present. Talk about jumping the gun. All is well and I am pleased as proverbial punch. There is no doubt that I receive the best results with slightly ground, packed herb. Spreading a bit of holiday cheer (kief) on top, makes it that much better.
I was/am enduring a spike in pain, and the second trial helped ease that nagging extra. I am still somewhat stumped as to why my unit produces more odor than the "box from the bros". We can actually smell the HerbalAire in the abode, via the garage. Not heavy by any means. I even utilize a knitted cover for the mouthpiece straw (swizzle stick is a better term) when off. Curious.
If anybody is teetering on the fence regarding purchase of an HerbalAire, go for it. The price, quality and competition ratio is all positive. Ho, ho, ho!

*get a better pump then stock, I went to walmart and got at 3l/min aquarium pump (stock pump is 1l/min).
*get 3 foot volcano bags on ebay! they fit perfect.

*get more crucibles for quick reloads
*5 way bag valve. nuff said.

I've had my Herbalaire for 4+ years now (I tested the larger pump) and I love it!
At one point I had my Herbalaire hooked up to a ice & water cooling tower, that made dense cool vap. It was awesome, a pain in the ass, and finally died. A newer version is cooking in my head now.
Is a pair of tweezers the best way to remove the crucible besides turning it upside down? This would be my one complaint of the Herbalaire's design.

I just got new hoses about a month ago and i already have a build up of oil coating the inside of the hose. Is this vaporized then condensed THC or is it just garbage?
