Hey all,
Not sure if this is where to put it, what with all the new revisions that were made to this site, but I have a question. I'm pretty sure it was answered in the past, but that was with the old layout and I cannot find the thread. Anyways here's my question...
In a few years time (as early as fall), I plan to start my life as a grower, and was wondering what would be a good strain for the first time grower, that helps with chronic migranes? I ask this as my mother is plagued with them and they cause her a great deal of trouble. She plans to go on meds soon, which I heard have some not so pleasant side effects (the names escape me at the moment). So I just wanted to offer it to her, so she can try it and then decide which route she wants to take.

Sorry for all the mindless rambling lol, but I thank you in advance for any suggestions that you may have... However I still have a lot of learning and reading to do before I am ready to grow

P.S. on a more recreational note ... Which would you recommend for a concert, a strong indica, sativa, or mix?

Jay, I used to get migraines, but cannabis stopped all that! I'm lucky, just about any strain will work for me! However, my migraines are due to a childhood head trauma, so your Mom may not be as lucky. Personally, I find indicas work best for me. When you offer her that first pipe or joint, get her ready with these studies-

Nothing like a few studies to drive your point home! After she finished those, show her the whole post!( link is below in my sig) It will blow her mind!

CFLs and tube fluoros work fine for seedlings, incidentally- no reason to wait for a HPS or such. Grow in soil, and you'll have very few problems. And why are you waiting? A closet grow, even with just fluoros, is not that hard to do. If Mom responds half as well as I do, she'll thank you for starting today! Migraines suck big time! Don't hassle if you are starting with bag seed- I've gotten some mighty fine plants that way! Most strains are indica dominant because they mature faster- and like I said indicas work best for me. Go for it! - Granny:hippy:

Thanks Storm!! This helps a lot, some interesting studies :). I cannot thank you enough. Oh, and as to why I haven't started yet...with my current housing situation (I'm still in univeristy), it is too risky. In August/September I plan to get a different house that would be more "accomodating".

Once again, I thank you:)

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. About 8 months ago I noticed with "excitement" I started having these EXTREME migraines, im talking to the point I had to lay down with my hands over my eyes. After going to the doctor and having an MRI he found a small section on my left frontal lobe, Supposedly Iron deposits ? But it can cause extreme migraines and I will be getting it removed with a laser in about 2 months. Any strain works to help it, especially Sativas because indicas put me on my ass and I cannot function during the day on an Indica. I do however smoke a heavy indica before bed because it knocks me out. Hope this helps!
