With 13 representatives from both major parties either sponsoring or co-sponsoring this year's medical marijuana bill, it is a true bipartisan effort. The bill is known as the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act and would allow patients to engage in the medical use of marijuana without fear of arrest.

In 2005, a statewide poll showed that over 75% of respondents would support legislation to permit patients "with cancer, multiple sclerosis, or other serious illnesses to use marijuana for medical purposes, as long as their physician approves."
To send your legislators an e-mail today urging them to represent the desires of their constituents by supporting the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act, click here (https://ssl.capwiz.com/mpp/issues/alert/?alertid=10435531).
After you have e-mailed your legislators, you may want to follow up with a call asking them to support the right of patients and doctors to decide what treatment is best. This is a huge step in the right direction. Whether or not this bill will be passed is still unknown, so we can only hope for the best, and encourage our legislators to make the right decision. Send an email, call the number, anything.
