This is the first post of my log,but I'm 8 days into it with the cuttings. No roots as of yet.. A few more days, they will take root. This grow is Jack Herer crossed with a Kentucky Afgahan. The cuttings were put in soil to root. I used a bloom with a high P rating as my foliar feed with a drop of superthrive. Here are the mama's and cuttings. I'm going to take more cutting the first part of the week for a total of 20.Well.......... Can't get my pics to load.Hmmmmmm???

Here they are at 9 days. I haven't been able to post pics, for 4 days. The site was acting crazy! They were just misted with a 10-60-10 bloom fert,1/4 strength, with a drop of super thrive. This a gallon mix, then poured into my spray bottle. They will get this mix until they root.I'll transplant and use a 10-10-10 fert, for vegging.I'll take 11 more cuttings this week or by the weekend at the latest.

Here are some of the supplies you will need to take cuttings.Notice the plastic bowl in the pic. That is your most important part of the process. Fill it with watet and as soon as the cutting is taken you quickly, put into the bowl with your fert mix. This will prevent embolisim. That is when air gets into the stem.It causes a bubble on the inside of the stem. You can take cuttings and stick them in your mouth to keep them moist, till you drop in the pan.Not the whole cutting, your not a goat! Just the end of the stem.

Nice. And I LOVE the name... PepperJack.
You ever try the trick of cutting all leaves on the clones down to one inch to reduce water loss and wilt?

GaGrown
01-16-2008, 10:31 AM
Rusty Trichome came up with that one. It sounded so good and fit the smells that were in the room. I've never trimmed the leaves back, but I'll give it a try. Will the procedure make them take root faster? I've taken alot of your advice to heart and used it! Most cases worked and still are working for me. I've noticed alot of others that take cuttings have done this procedure.I've even had another ask me, after taking him cuttings. Why did'nt you cut them back? Not that it was important to him. He's just ungrateful!Still a great guy. I don't think he could tell me the reason they should have been cut back. Oh that reminds me! The cactus...... It did'nt bloom last year. It should this December. The blooms are red and white stripped.Never seen one like this. The pic is attached. I love to hear your input! Good or Bad! The next cuttings will be trimmed back. We'll see what happens....

Day 12

Another has taken root. Batting 1000. The one that rooted today looks way better than the Jan. 15th.!The other's should have been all together. At least 4 or 5 on the same day. Here are the mothers after giving the bloom 10-60-10,superthrive mix,two days earlier. I'll transplant the ones that are showing roots..Stinky mentioned this and I had never tried it right before I had planned to take cuttings, but I had used the Superthrive, with a 10-10-10. It worked well.As it does now! It's that the 10-60-10-makes them think I'm bout to Flower! Lemme stretch...... There ya go shoots everywhere!:thumbsup:I'm about to take more this weekend and will post progress.

Had 2 showing roots today.I'll use a seedling mat next grow.Gotta get 1.They are on the floor near the inlet air. I think that would be an issue as to the length of time they are taking to root.Humidity was not a problem. The dome kept that at a maximum... The soil, and the bottom of the tray they are in, is not as warm as they should be. Outside air is freakin' my room temps out. Mother Nature... I love her!

GaGrown
01-19-2008, 02:04 PM
We are about to get 4 to 5 inches of snow.Humidity in the room will be at an astounding high. I've found that moist, cold air from outside entering your grow space will raise the humidity from 40% to around 60% or more relative humidty.Thats not a good thing unless the room is full of cuttings. Mold grows at 60% humidity. Hydro systems suffer the most! I stick with soil grows.Alot more forgiving! There is a solution for this problem and it is to indroduce warmer intake air.Your central heating system can be used for this reduction.Use a wye to run a flex line from your intake to your ducting.Mix the air.Air circulation is vital.I would use this procedure in the winter only.In hotter months.Remove the conneted wye.You can handle the humidity better in the warmer months than colder.Just some food for thought!

I just got done this early morning installing a wye and a damper. The damper is on the side of the heating duct.I set the damper at 1/4 open to mix with the air from the intake.Just checked the temps and they are right on time! I got that part licked! I'll make ya PROUD,Pimp!:pimp::thumbsup:

I'm about to check on the gurls. I'm going to take somemore cuttings and post progress on the remaining 4. I hope they have rooted.I've never had to wait this long for 9. I've had to wait 12 days at the most for 20. I found the cure, for the long duration. It was the damper.Your soil and water temps will be different from room temperature.

Hey GaGrown looking good!!! had a problem with my five little sprouts growing so slow cause of the cold. Put them under a heating pad and now there taking off. Never thought i would say this but im sick of this cold weather, but hey its better than fighting with heat in the summer.

01-20-2008, 05:12 PM
It was late last night before I could get to the room. When I got there to check on the cuttings progress. I found they had not rooted.I took a skewer(bamboo) and picked around the stem to see if was swollen at all. They were swollen from the hormone, and had knots like it should, but no roots.I did the same to all 4 and only 1 had roots of the 4.The FREAKIN' cold got them. They were lush and green. I did my little project with the damper,to late. I got a heatmat on it's way!!!!!! It's like 12 degrees here now. I've never had to have a mat. Guess what? Now I do. Lights off temps are getting around 48-51.Not happy at all!!!!!!! I'll do some tweakin'........ No pun intended! Here are pics of the poor dead souls!

Gonna transplant the ones that are rooted, today.

Hey GaGrown. Not sure how large your room is but a small personal heater from a local hardware store works wonders for me. Plus it was pretty low cost.

GaGrown
01-20-2008, 08:31 PM
A heater is not an option with lights on 24/7. Not to mention a waste of electricity and $$$$$ for my application. I got my temps. in a tolerable range. 76-79 lights on and off. The damper I installed too late is tied to my Central heating duct. It's the same temp as the living space. lights off, that is. I have a ceramic heater with a t-stat built in. This is the first time I have lost a cutting due to cold. Much less 3!!!!!! It's all good, though! Gonna take more and it won't happen this time! These cuttings won't be but about 2 weeks behind the rooted clones. Arggggggg!

GaGrown
01-21-2008, 04:53 AM
I got the 6 rooted clones transplanted. I think they'll take off now. Gonna take more cuttings when I get my mat. It's too cold to waste the effort.Room temps are still between 76-79. I know ya'll think that is warm enough. Not for me! I wanna see 20 degrees better than room temps.Inside the dome that is.Or at least the soil.Oh yeah... I turned my lights back t 18/6.I put them in the smaller pots as to easily move them to their veg room.Gonna take the other cuttings and then I'll veg the 1 larger mama for a week, then 12/12 she goes.

I just got news as of friday, last week, that I will have to go out of town for at least 9 weeks. I said,"Do What???" My boss said that I was needed on a job in way South GA. Wheels started turning that instant! WTF am I gonna do??? Well.......... I thought for a few days.. Actually 5.. I thought I would at least flower the mama's I have and give the six clones that I have to a friend! I do mean a FRIEND! I'll keep them, the mama's, on a drip and see how this goes... the first week I'm gone. This is a situation that came from nowhere! If i had known I would never had started this log. I apologize to all that may had been following! I really wanted to take this to the finish! I will get a log done! Stinky,Pimp:pimp:! I am so sorry! But family is 1st!

I'm still gonna flower the mama's! Think if i put them both in the bags with more soil they will survive a drip of 15 mins/day, at a rate of 1 gal/hr.? Gonna flower them with 2 600's. Gonna post pics on weekends.

Ok... This is what I've done,so as to not disappoint myself as well as others! I put them,( the mama's) on a drip system with a timer set to water at 12:30 am,for 15 mins. everytime the lights come on.They, (lights)are set for 12am on and 12pm off. I got the clones to a good home! They'll be happy! I'll get some pics posted of my hurry your ass up and get to work project! Getting all the shit i needed to make this work was a chore! I had no time for mail order. I had to run around and get all this stuff from several towns. I've never had to leave like this! At least I was given a notice as to when I would leave. I'll be home in the middle of the week for a day,to go over the prints with my boss.I'll post pics that evening. This has turned out to be a nightmare! Wake me the hell up!

I'm home for the weekend. I've had the 2 mama's flowering for a week,on a drip system. They are going through their stretch.I would say they have shot up about 6 inches in a week of flowering. That would be the sativa in the mix. There are a couple of things I've learned from using a drip system. You have to have an airstone to keep the tank churnning and bubbling with air.If not used the water fert mix in the tank, will cloud up. You also have to add soil to your pots. If you don't have enough soil, they will be overwatered! I put mine in growbags and they are in good health after being left alone for a week.I'll get some pics posted of them. I should have done a hydro grow. I started to. Not knowing I would had needed to be growing with one. Hydro system. If your a soil grower then this drip system is what you can use if your going to be gone from your grow for a period of time.

GaGroan,

So you are basically watering them a Quart of water a day, that comes out to 1-3/4 gallons a week. That seems high to me. But if you have been doing it for a week already and no issues you must be good to go and your soil must have good drainage. How are you doing nutes during this period?

I find this situation very interesting, if this works out for you, I have some Ideas running thru my head on some supper stelth grows.

Wish you the best of luck on this grow.

It would work better with a digital programable timer.... That way you could water from 1 minute increments per 24 hours and then not water the second day and so forth..... With the emitters and timer I have on there I'm only able to set it for 15 mins. per 24 hours. I'm using are 1 gal/hour drip emitters, Hydrofarm timer...They are getting more water now than they should for the simple fact, that I was STRESSING and IN A HURRY! I've since gotten a digital timer. Trying to figure this bastard out. Got the first day programmed to water and then not water on the second day. Watering them everyother day for 15 mins. Mon Wed Fri.

I am really surprised that they are producing as well as they are! The trich production is owerwhelming. I have reason to believe that humidity played a part in the vigorous flowering. I have a cooler in the room with my nutes and pump along with a bubble stone. The lid stays propped open. The water being in the grow area has taken the humidity to a level that they must LOVE! All this is just an opinion,though.... They just seem to do better, when there is some moisture in the air. I'll get some pics up when the lamps come on... Seems as if the more light your using, the greater the humidity. The circulation of the fan, helps to evenly distribute the moisture around the plants. Not the exhaust. That plays a part as well, but in a different way. It expels the humidity and seems to keep things on an even keel.

I am very surprised they are hanging in there for me! Esspecially when they have got to take care of themselves... I've mixed my nutes carefully and made sure they have circulating air and top of the line exhaust. That way I have no worries about those 2 600's blasting lumens on them!

Not gonna make seed without a male. Pure Sinse! I can get this strain from the same place,if I need it. I just wanted to grow 3 different crops from these mothers. cwesto,
Thank's for the props!:thumbsup:Right now it has alot to do with high humidity. The 2 600 watters are are drawing alot of moisture from my cooler of nutes.I'm gonna cover it with plastic,to keep it contained. The Jack Herer that I grew before this grow was kinda like these plants.. They smell sweeter than the Jack. They also had to be flushed, due to over fertlizing.. Overwatering and high humidity will make the leaf claw like that. Hope this was some help to ya! I'll post somemore pics this week, since I get to be home for a couple of weeks.:stoned:

Awesome, well met my friend! Did you make it to the race last Sunday? I had tickets, but then found out I had to work... like that Saturday. Rusty,
This would be the harvest weight. They are manicured.Roughly.... I'll post the weight of the dried bud, once I get it cured. Your so right about the difference.... When all is dried,it should be abit over a 1/2 lb and close to 3/4 lb. I've got both plants drying seperate. So I'll be able to give a dry weight for both plants.
