Hello grow lounge, i thought this might be a good place to ask this questions since there are all of 3 post on the strain board.

I am looking for a good strain to start growing. I want to get a few going inside, but i want a strain that i can grow outside too (Upstate NY.) I have a few seeds of some stuff i have been growing the last two years, but its not that great at all (found it in a bag.) I am going to start the veg with CFL, i have about 10 of em. I will probably get a HPS at some point though.

I have been looking at magus genetics (magus genetics index disclaimer (http://www.magusgenetics.com)), i have heard a lot of good things about them. The Double Dutch and Motivation both look really nice, but i am not sure if they are the right type of strain for my environment.

One last thing, i am looking for a reliable seed supplier that is not going to make me wait 3 months. Maybe somebody could message me with a good company. I would really apreciate it, thanks for any help.

As for seed suppliers, I've been happy with Nirvana/Seedboutique/Seedbay and Cannaseur, as well as the breeder RushMan, but he's low-level and doesn't advertise for the obvious reasons.
In Toronto, if you feel like a nice afternoon drive, there's a cute little shop called Sacred Seed that is well stocked.
For a strain that will do well outdoors in Upstate, look at West Coast Seeds' 'donkey dick' , the classic Northern Lights#5 (you can get those all over the place), skunk#1, Niagara, Federation's Sweet Island Skunk, etc.= all strains bred to finish outdoors in southern Canada.
And BONUS, the strains I listed are all stable, so you can make your own seeds from the most vigorous male in your seed pack, and save only the seeds off the very best female. This way, you are further selecting for traits that do well in your specific grow conditions. That's how Skunk#1 came about... bred to be locally acclimated to a New England growing season before being taken out to Cali by its breeder.

i have a few more questions. Do you think i would have a hard time growing the strains from magus genetics, or should i go with something like northern lights. Magus sounds really good and are priced much higher than any of the nirvana stuff.

If anyone has ordered from seed boutique, can they tell me how long they waited for their seeds?

i found northern light x shiva and northern lights 5 x haze. Does anyone have any expierence with these.

Thanks for any help. I am having a really hard time trying to figure out what strain i should get.

I got my orders from seedboutique in anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. That was about 1-2 years ago.

The very easiest strains for a noob are NL#5 not outcrossed with anything, Skunk#1, pure Afghan (NOT the af x moroc that nir. sells, that's a major PITA to grow, lanky), PPP, or BigBud. All of these are commonly run commercial because they yield well and aren't fussy... GREAT qualities for a new grower.

Thanks for all the help stinky. I went with seedbay, i got Green Spirit which is skunk #1 x Big Bud. I went with this because i wanted to get feminised seeds. I hope i didnt make the wrong choice going with a cross like this, but you did recomend both strains. I think i might grow these and order some more seeds, it has a 5.9% thc content (which is odd since both parent strains are over 8%.) Do you think i am going to be dissapointed in a 5.9 % thc content?

thanks for all the help!

That's a commercial-level THC content. There ARE other compounds that figure into the high significantly. Too bad you can't get #s for all of them. That sounds like one of those bulletproof commercial strains to me, lol. I've never grown or tried it but got a hunch... :D
