As of now I have Fox Farm nutrients
-Grow Big 3-2-6
-Big Bloom .01-0.3-0.7
-Tiger Bloom 2-8-4

I read on another site that 20-10-10 or 20-10-15 is good for young plants. Using Fox Farm how could I get those numbers? Is there another brand that would be better? I've been reading about Super Natural and they seem to have some pretty good reviews. Could I use the Fox Farm solutions with CalMag+ and Liquid Karma?

Thanks in advance!

Could I use the Fox Farm solutions with CalMag+ and Liquid Karma?

Thumbing through the other pages I've answered this question. 3 Part Fox Farm with CalMag+ and Liquid Karma works just fine. But, I still can't find how to raise the 3-2-6...

The numbers are usually a lot smaller for hydro nutes than soil nutes. My guess is you were reading a site that was talking about soil nutes. There's no way to "raise" the 3-2-6; its just the ratio of NPK in the mix.

Well, then I would say Fox Farm is a little low, wouldn't you? I was reading a post by Opie Yutts and he is using Super Natural Bloom Aqua which is 14-8-19...that makes a lot more sense to me than 3-2-6. Another is Grow Terra and its 20-20-20...:wtf:

Hmm...I won't argue being I have virtually no idea what I'm doing. But, check out Grow Terra and Bloom Aqua by Super Natural. Maybe there is something I am confusing.

my thought is that this has to be for soil based grow bc this comp makes only very high n/p/k nutes

wait for stinky or opie for a sure answer

let me ask, what are you doing? growing with soil/hydro/aero? can prob rec. a better set of nutes

My GrowBig is 6-4-4, im not sure if u were looking at the right bottle.

Ive used GrowBig alone for the veg. on my current grow... it produced 8 wonderfully healthy plants, from questionable genetics non the less;) Ive heard people using other stuff in combination w/ the growbig, but it worked fine by itself for me.

These are my plants right before put into bloom.. they havent been feed anything except water and growbig at this point, and a little bit of micos for me roots:thumbsup:

More isnt necessarily better in hydro. I do know you can use CalMag and Liquid Karma with the Fox Farm nutes but I'm not positive about the ratios.....CalMag you would use if you are going to use RO or distilled water regardless of your other nutes. Liquid Karma I consider a supplement. (another nice supplement to think about...Sweet)

Don't necessarily go by what Opie does. He's kind of a time bomb just waiting to go off.....we all know it but we just didn't want to say anything. :D

I use the Botanicare line of nutes.....Pro Grow, Pro Bloom etc...made by the same folks who brought you......wait for it......CalMag and LK. The numbers in their grow nutes (nice one part grow nute which I love) are 3-1.5-4. I'm very happy with the way they grow my plants. ;)

OLDJIMMYBONES--
Its John Lennon. The whole picture has all four but Lennon was the bravest. And yes, I am doing hydro -- Drip for Veg then flood/drain for bloom.

Weedhound--
Im going distilled. How would you compare organic nutes to what you are using now? Is there really any benefits of one over the other?

cwesto--
Yoy're using the 6-4-4? Isn't that for soil? I bought that at first and realized (or thought) it was the wrong stuff...thats when I picked up the 3-2-6. Anyway, its obviously working out for ya!

Well the Botanicare line IS organic....(although I've heard whispers that it's not 100% organic ). There are several things I like about that line of nutes.....they are "one part" which means you don't have to add the N, P, K individually so less work and less measuring.....it's ready to go out of the bottle. I'm told by those who use the 3 part (inorganic) nutes (GH, Advanced Nutrients, etc) that you can tweak things more accurately in your solutions which is nice for different strains (assuming you are familiar with the strain you are growing) and that the yield is somewhat better with the 3 part nutes Personally I haven't really found that to be true and I've been using Botincare for about 2 years. I would go so far as to PONTIFICATE :stoned: that the brand of nutes would be lower on the list for increasing yield and than say, good lighting, general conditions such as ph, room temp, humidity and wisely used supplements.

I'd be extremely interested to get others opinions on this as well. :)

This thread has answered more questions than intended!! Thanks to all of you who have dropped a few lines of enlightenment and to you Weedhound for that last response. So, if 3 part is NKP individually, would Fox Farm be 1 part?

It sounds like it to me but I don't use the Fox Farm nutes so can't be sure. You WILL see numbers listed for NPK on all sorts of stuff and if there isn't any of "said nute" in the solution the number will be 0. (2-0-0 for example) If you pop up a link I'll give it a look but I saw rhizome wandering around here.....he'll know for sure. ;)

The FoxFarms a three-part- Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom. Check their website, they must have a feed schedule up. Feed sched is gonna include three additives, dry powders- damned if I can remember what they're called. Oh, and a surfactant that ya use a couple of times and then flush w/.

It's not the usual Grow-Micro-Bloom three part, but ya still end up buying 3 bottles minimum and then a bunch of other stuff.

Good shit, tho...

Oh hey, folks- just an observation-

2-1-2.2 is exactly the same ratio as 20-10-22, yer just using ten times as much.

Weedhound

How does the EC work there? So are you saying that I would be using 1/10 of the amount I'm using of the Botanicare? And what IS up with the 3 parts nutes? Do they think they're special? :D

rhizome
01-08-2008, 05:38 AM
Welp-

1st off, remember that EC is relative- some forms of N are more conductive than other forms of N,etc...

There are also matters of dilution- fer instance, using the Advanced SG two part, 5/ml a gallon of each will give you an EC of right about 1.0, while doing the same volume dose w/ each part of the Canna will, as I remember, put you right around .7. ( Base nutes, no addys).

And 10/ml of, say, Cornicopia will put you at about .8 , but this will fry the living hell out of everything. But I've pushed Pure Blend Pro up to like 2.1, without any problems.

It's a relative measurement- it really just tells you how well a solution conducts electricity. From there you can measure the relative concentration of a solution, but it really only compares cleanly w/ a more or less dilute volume of the same solution.

But yeah, there's a "cost of nutrient over time" factor- sometimes the stuff that costs a lot for a little bottle is cheaper long term than the stuff that costs a little for a gallon jug. Depends on how fast ya use it up.

Hmmm....the little bottle vs big bottle theory.

thanks rhizome. :)
