hey all,
After a year in BC, I have decided to come back to AB due to expenses, and I am shocked by this smoking ban going on even further than it already has.
A few years ago, Alberta decided to do this smoking ban, and banned all smoking indoors in any establishment that was 18 and under.
They went further and banned it entirely indoors. Inside bars, clubs, pubs, casinos, work places, everywhere inside other than your home and vehicle.
Now they went a step further in the new year and have banned it everywhere, inlcuding your own vehicle, and if you are standing closer than 5 meters within a doorway, you are looking up a $1000 fine for the first offense. Second offense is up to $2000.
I am a non-smoker, and even I think banning smoking to this extent is very communist of them. Even banning the smoking in bars is stupid.
If they want to treat smokers like second class citizens, at least give them a free soother with a pack of smokes if you're going to treat them like babies. If people want to smoke, then let them, but banning smoking from the same people who fund tobacco companies is a double standard.
And people wonder why other people are so angry. We can't win when the governments the enemy.
Any thoughts? :)
