did anyone else see 60 minutes this past sunday with the story on mmj in cali? what i gathered from the storie is how since the law was passed "shady" doctors are prescibing cannabis for almost any ailment that you can preceive. all in all it was a decent storie that kinda hit on the fact that people were getting busted by the feds for doing what was legal in their state but the jist of the story was more about the abuse of the law by persons who only wanted to get high. they took hidden cameras into a facility were people were joking about ailments that didnot exist just to get a med card. one lady was given a script because high heels hurt her feet according to 60 minutes. the doctor listed reason as foot pain but i didnt see the person attaining to the high heels causing the pain so im knida leary about their conclusion. what i think was kinda crappy was that only one person brung up the fact that when it comes to prescription drugs you will always have people abuse the system to get what they want. and im thinking that on any given day pharmacies nation wide are filling thousands of bullshit scipts that are solely for the purpose of abusing drugs.

There are docs in CA who will legitmately write scripts for MJ, and there are those who come to town once a month and do a "clinic" for a hundred dollars or so....a group of maybe thirty sit down and listen to the benifits and effects of MJ. then the doc sees you individually, you bring your med records with you, then you get your recomendation and off to the county you go for your card. Like You said, all over america there are scripts being written for much harder drugs for bogus reasons all the time. It would actually be cheaper just to get a ticket here in calif for holding under an ounce. the whole cost in my county is just under four hundred for the whole enchilada to get a card. and as i have found, starting a grow is kinda spendy too.
good luck to you

First I got angry about what I was reading and thought this is F**KD UP! Then I saw your in CA and that explains it. I know driving on a suspended license in OC was more then a DUI about 12 years ago. I tried to object and all the judge said is you cant object to the fine only the charge. He said if you stay out of trouble you will look at this and think who cares why let them drive if they cant stay out of trouble or afford to operate a vehicle? He was totally right, you want to carry an ounce then you have to play the game and pay to play. One pays for the right, the other just decides he is above the law.

I had to go to one of those "shady" doctors to get my legal recommendation because my GI doctor, who is supposed to be an expert on Crohn's disease, (which is what I have), said he was unaware of any connection with marijuana easing the symptoms. I have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease for about 6 years and only when I did my own research did I realize that I never should have quit smoking.
The reality is that many doctors, not pot doctors, but the ones driving fancy BMWs with their own quiet office in a respectable clinic, are not doing the research they should be doing, or are ignorant to marijuana being used as a medical drug. When I visited one of those "shady" doctors, not only was he more compassionate than my regular GI doctor, but he even told me it would be best to make it into a tea if possible, because marijuana can help heal inflammation in the stomach. That "shady" doctor seemed to know more about Crohn's disease than did my GI doctor, so I wouldn't marginalize them into the "greedy shady doctor" category!
I didn't see this 60 minute show though, if anybody spots it on youtube or Google video link it up :)

oops, didn't see the link till after I posted that. I think that church dude was a bit out of touch with reality, especially when he tried to make it sound like medical marijuana is coming from Lebanon or Mexico, and suggesting the government needs to get more involved seems like a ridiculous statement to me. I don't want the government getting their greedy hands in my medicine! The last thing we need is more involvement from the federal government, any change should be done at state level.

i wasnt trying to put down the doctors. its just that the storie seemed like they were trying to make out these guys as shady hence the parenthesis around the word. while many of the rest are more than willing to crank out scripts for oxycotin without blinkin an eye.
