You may or may not pass. Frankly, as desperate as the military is, I'd be surprised if they don't look the other way if you test weakly positive anyway - in fact, I'd be stunned if their positive testing threshold (the concentratation of THC in your urine) hasn't significantly increased over the last couple of years.

There are a few things you can do to improve the odds of passing:

There are several supplements you can buy online - I've no idea if they work or not.

There are three things you can do that definately will help though.

1. Limit exercise between now and the test - THC is stored in adipose tissue. Exercise will skew the equilibrium toward fat cell breakdown, releasing thc into your bloodstream.

2. Eat fatty meals the day before and day of your test - that will also skew the equilibrium toward diminished fat cell breakdown.

3. Drink a lot of water the day before and day of your test. That will flush your system to a degree as well as dilute your urine on test day, lowering the concentration of THC excreted.

Of course, this all assumes you get a urine test, not a hair test. I would think a hair test for the military would be unlikely as it is significantly more expensive but I don't know if this is the case or not.

If this info helps you pass - please keep your head down and don't get shot. I'd hate to think I helped get you killed.... (seriously)

As far as I know, MEPS uses 50 ng/ml on immunoassay and 15 ng/ml on confirmation GC/MS, same as most employers.

Actually, he's got over a week. He could benefit from aerobic exercise for a few days then stop on the 3rd or 4th and get lazy.

That's pretty much right.

You can't flush THC metabolites out of your system with water. It isn't like pressure washing the driveway. It is good to stay well hydrated but over doing it the day before the test isn't going to increase GFR.

Hair test are only about $20 more than a 5 panel urine test with GC/MS confirmation. They don't use hair testing in MEPS though.

Delore, many recruiters have instant tests they keep in the office to let those "questionable" prospects test to see if they can pass the real thing. They want you to make it in so they are usually pretty helpful. You can get your own instant test or come up with a creative story to see if you can get pre tested (I was at a party and there was some smoking going on in one of the rooms, heaven forbid I got some second hand smoke yada yada yada). Also, what is your height and weight and normal physical activity level? You can also add some soluble fiber to your diet like metamucil.

FakeBoobsRule,

My understanding is that while increased water consumption doesn't alter glomerular filtration rate, it does affect biliary excretion - although I can't defend that mechanistically or with any study that compares high water load serum levels with low water load levels.

Probably about 80 percent of THC is excreted in stool, so, if true, increasing that pathway would be beneficial.

And drinking water, while not changing GFR, does dilute urine. Double the milliliters and you effectively half the measured nanograms. I would stick with the water drinking.

What are you saying, that high levels of water affect biliary excretion of THC metabolites. I don't think it does and I'm not talking about the difference between being dehydrated and having normal fluid volume. Whenever I talk about excess fluids I am comparing it to someone who is at normal fluids volumes, not someone already dehydrated or hypovolemic, and someone who is force feeding themselves fluids. Again, your body must maintain water homeostasis or you get osmotic shifts or you'll die so your body decreases ADH production, decrease in production of aldosterone, etc etc etc. So while your taking in all that water your body is pulling water from the blood. I might be wrong but I don't think so and I'm going to ask a gastroenterologist friend of mine but I don't think increased fluid intake in someone who is hydrated is going to affect bile excretion, biliary excretion of THC metabolites, hepatic function or hepatic elimination of THC metabolites.

Soluble fiber on the other hand does play a role in all of this. You can search my posts on this.

It's more like 60% fecal 40 % urine.

I never said dilution didn't work. I am quite familiar with dilution. What I said was:

Hell, it's in my sig too.
