So here is my situation. I have a great job over the next 6 months pending a passed drug test. After finding out that it would be a hair test and not a urine test, I took a preliminary hair test at a legitimate drug testing company that tests construction workers for the most part(my bro in law works there). The results came back from that test and they were negative. Therefore I was confident in going in and taking my official one for the job I am interested in. The first test was not done by Psychemedics whereas the one that matters is done by them. Is there any possibility that one company has stricter pass/fail concentrations numbers and that I could fail the Psychemedics test? Or does every company test the same? It would seem to me that it would be illegal for one laboratory to call a certain concentration a pass while the other one calls it fail, but maybe I'm wrong. My worry is that maybe I should not have rushed and taken the official one after getting the negative results of the first. I did do two MacCujo treatments within 24 hrs of the test that counts so am I in the clear? Sorry if this is confusing to read, what can I say, I'm a first time poster. Thanks

I had this discussion before in another forum, who is the most evil hair testing company? Quest and Psychemedics are probably the two biggest hair testers and both use the same cutoffs and confirmations marijuana levels (i'm almost positive all hair testing companies use the same values as set forth by regulations determined through years of research) but there may be some slight differences in their testing methods. Both companies put the hair through a "wash" to remove environmental contaminants then put the hair through a solvent extraction that almost liquifies the hair and makes the metabolites available for testing. From what I've read on their websites, I believe (remember, they don't fully disclose everything on their websites) that Psychemedics' solvent phase may be a little more effective than Quest or anyone else and may be a little more difficult to beat. This is mere speculation as I have no solid proof or evidence, only Psychemedics claims that their method is superior to others in the industry and seeing a few more people fail Psychemedics test over Quest. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear.

Psychemedics offers a home test that is very similar if not identical to their employment testing and this is what you should have probably used if you knew it was going to be through them.

If you did treat your hair 2 more times after taking the test on your own that might be enough to provide you with smoe more breathing room. When did you take the official hair test?

I took the official test Friday Dec. 28, and the prelim on the 26.

FBR, the first test was done by Quest and the one that counts done by Psyche. I am going to call the company tomorrow or Thursday to see if they got my results and other paperwork. At this point I'm just trying not to fret, be confident, and really just put it out of my head since I can't do anything about it now. Thanks for your input, your posts on other threads helped out alot a couple weeks back when I was really whiggin out. I'll post results when I hear them.

I passed. My history for the past 3 months just for reference. The last time I smoked was Friday December 6. Prior to that it was maybe 4-5 times a month in November and October. September was a pretty heavy month for me, daily bowls up until the end of the month. I'm a pretty fit individual with low body fat and high metabolism, which I think was the key aspect that helped me pass. Bottom line, if you have a hair test coming up, do an at home test, or if its possible do as I did and go somewhere to have one done on yourself, and make sure that its with the same company that will be doing the official test. Listen to FBR, take all precautions that you can because with a good job you can buy all the herb you want!
