View Full Version : Smoking out in a Hotel Room

A friend of mine wants to rent a hotel room for a sort of get together with 10-15 people. The hotel will probably be under my name if we decide to do it. Is there a possibility of any legal trouble if the room smells like weed when we check out? I'm not looking forward to a party where we have to tell people to smoke outside.

Thanks!

Can you say "smoke detector"??? you really don't want to set off the fire alarm.

Hopefully, I can get a smoking room which lacks one of those.

Once before I sparked one for 3 seconds before I saw a smoke detector in the room. I don't travel very often, so now I know to be extra cautious about stuff like that.

You'll be alright man, first of all try and get a smoking room, and hopefully the room you get has a balcony just go blaze outside, My friends and I had a kickback at a hilton by us and it was pretty tight, I don't think you can actually get in any legal trouble for it just "smelling" like weed. Have fun

My first time blazing was in a hotel room.
It was me, my best friend, his little bro, and his mom.
(Some bomb-ass weed too!!!, his mom supplied of course :rasta:)
We put a towel under the door so smoke didnt get into the hall, and made sure to have all the windows closed while we smoked.
When we were done we opened the windows so the smell could get out, the smoke has dissipated by then. And we sprayed a little oust all over the place, just enough so that it covers the weed smell, but not overpowering. If you spray to much you'll get major headaches(I learned that firsthand from my first few times smoking by myself).:rastasmoke:
If you do that I guarantee you wont get caught.

I doubt the cleaning personel would say anything. If it smells like weed, they will just clean the room, and spray some deodorizer.

My experience was 4 people in a small one room, one bed, plus a bathroom, style, motel room. We had 3 bowls and used no spraying or ventilation. The volume of the room was such that 30 minutes and 2 cigarette smokers each having a cig later, no weed smell was detectable. We were also very loud and were called twice and warned to be quiet, but otherwise had no ill consequences. Provided you have either a smoking room or a room with a private outside area like a balcony to smoke (go for the highest floor of the building), I'd be worried about a large hotel room party primarily because of volume. A candle, airspray, or a few cigarettes is all that is necessary to mask 16 people's weed smoke in a sufficiently spacious suite, but the walls are still typically paper thin and you may be in trouble, at least in terms of paranoia, if someone from staff comes to your room and requests you keep it down. Avoid rooms which have doors connecting to adjacent rooms unless you are also renting the adjacent room, because door seepage is your primary smell related problem.

Dont stress it much the worst i think would happen is they would charge to clean the smell out of the room but if it's a smoking room your fine . If it's not and it has no balcany smoke in the bathroom with the extractor fan on that's what i do and keep the door closed untill the smell has been sucked away completely only open it to go in and out then the smell cant get into any carpet or bedding and even better there are no smoke detectors in the bathroom because the steam from the shower would set them off:thumbsup:

As long as you've smoked all the weed, they cant do anything.

It's the time between lighting the first bit of ganja, and finishing the last bit that you have to be careful.

just take out the batteries of the smoke detector and replace them when you leave. Okay it's not the safest to do, but I won't set of the alarm if you smoke in your room. And use some deodorizer after you smoked.

I want to add, since I wasnt thinking about them at the time, that Non-smoking rooms are bad. They usually have either a special smoke detector that can't be tampered with which goes off if plant material of any sort is burned, or some other feature in place to make it resoundingly obvious if you've smoked at all in the room. The reason is that vicious or campaigning anti-smoking people, as well as a percentage of the normal population, are very acute at detecting tobacco smells in a room and will complain if they do. The hotel has to cover it's own ass and charge you for the cleaning if you light up in the room. True, they're thinking about cigarettes and not weed, but I'm sure weed smoke would trip any safeguard that tobacco smoke would. Be very wary of designated non-smoking rooms.

Wrong answer sport... the smoke detectors in hotels/motels are hard wired... no batteries, and are tied into the central alarm system. Most hotels fire alarm systems are tied directly to the fire department.

If you want to fuck up a perfectly good night by spending it in jail, knock yourself out.

Down in Gatlinburg last Spring me and my friend had a non-smoking motel room. What a lot fail to realize is that smoke detectors are made to detect heavy amounts of smoke, not the average smoke produced by hooking up a steak or smoking a lot of bowls.

We had more weed than we knew what to do with so we rolled up 6 fat joints and smoked all of them the last night, no problem whatsoever.

what we did, a little over the top (but we DID have room checks), was just smoke thru a doob tube with the shower on, AND the bathroom was right by the hall with a big ass vent and it didnt smell at all

Just don't cause a ruckus, and you'll be fine. I smoked with my sisters, brother, sister-in-law, sister's boyfriend, and cousin, in my aunt's condo in Hawai'i. It was a cool time. I smoked j's in the morning out on the porch. It was a lovely time. You might want to put a towel at the bottom of the door while everyone is smoking.

Yeah people aren't going to complain unless there's significant noise. I would only have people over who you know really well and few enough in number that you'll all be quiet. Since you've got those beds it's good to keep numbers few so you can have a better chance of going to bed sexually with someone . Tokin' in hotels is fun. how is this thread so long?:D

smokin weed is not going to set off the smoke alarm. I've smoked a ton of weed in a ton of nonsmoking rooms and never had a problem. just don't be too loud.
