A friend of mine and I are extremely interested in making smoking devices.
The other night we set out to top ourselves just a little bit.
We had just made a gravity bong a few nights previous with a three quart pitcher and a two liter bottle. We had used the glass slide from an existing bong and put it in a hole in the lid of the bottle. We merely pulled the slide out to rip the grav.
We then made a lightbulb vaporizer as per the usual method. It had a soda bottle top on the end with a small hole and a larger one, about the same diameter as the hole in the gravity bong's cap. (Just realized that the description of the gravity's bowl area was unnecessary, but whatever. Smoking does that...) We used some clear 3/8 inch vinyl tubing to connect the larger hole in the lightbulb vape with the hole in the top of the gravity. (Note: vinyl tubing is fine to use in smoking devices as long as it doesn't directly get heat itself and is replaced periodically because of resin buildup.) A wire holder was then improvised out of some 14 gauge wire we had on hand which fit around the lightbulb and the top area of the bottle to keep them near each other.
Then we lit the vaporizer.
As the vapor started to appear, we slowly lifted the gravity and vapor travelled into the bottle. This takes a long time as the vapor is slower to form than smoke would be.
We were fucked up.
We are both veteran smokers and have tried nearly every method known for smoking and/or vaporizing weed.
But we were fucked up.
It was a really interesting build and i recommend it to anybody who knows what they are doing, has previously built a lightbulb vaporizer, feels confident in their abilities as a craftsman and a smoker, has the tools they feel necessary, and is interested.
I seriously don't advise this for people who just need something to smoke with. The build took a fair amount of time and was mostly to see if the concept would work.
PS: It takes a fair amount of the old MJ to fill a two liter bottle with vapor.
PPS: Be careful you are only producing vapor and not smoke; if you can't tell the difference, you probably shouldn't be doing this build.
PPPS: For anybody who is interested in this but is confused, I'm sorry. At some point I'll sit down and write a serious step-by-step out.
PPPPS: Hit me back with commentary and builder/user reviews!
PPPPPS: Sorry about all the goddamn post-scripts.
