Just got my pondmaster ap-40 air pump and man is it quiet and puts out some serious air. I run a 6 bucket DWC that I had a mid grade air pump ($50 bucks of ebay, you can see the old one in teh pics) but it was really loud and the air pressure sucked when I had (4) 4" and (2) 5" round stones. Now that I have hooked up the ap-40 the a pressure is great and I even added (3) 4" stones for the res and I have plugged 5 ports of the 12. This pump is whisper quite, my total noise dropped 50% from my old air pump and my noise issue now is just fans, but that is easy to hide. I plan on getting (4) 5" round air stone to replace the 4" round ones I have in buckets. This pump is great, it is quiet and pumps some serious air, but it is big!
Big thanks for the heads up Opie, ths pump rocks!

I was checking this out, so it only has 1 port out? but you can just keep splitting it?
Did that splitter attachment come with it?

It came with mine, but I paid too much and bought it in a hydro store. If not, those attachments aren't too hard to find on the internet.

I got mine on Ebay for just under $80. It comes with the manifold with 12 ports.

How's it goin? I was about to order the General Hydroponics Dual Diaphragm pump, but now I'm wondering if I should get this one instead. Anybody have any experience/advice for both?
the P.M-(AP+40) has 5/8"in output and the air ston`s are 1/4"in.....? ?

I've got experience with the Pond Master. It is quite simply the best air pump I've ever owned. Very quiet and very powerful.

I'm not sure how long they last since mines only been running 24/7 for the past 3 months or so, but so far so good.

Is this a question?

Then yes. You use a reducer or a manifold that reduces automatically like the ones that came with our pumps. I've seen these for sale a few other places though.

Mine has been running 24 since this post and I love how quite it is. I am not sure if GH pump is the same as the one I had was (you can see it in the pictures on floor between the buckets) and no matter what pump I have tried, they all have been loud until this one. Now my fan (4" vortec) and a breeze fan for the plants are the loudest things I have. The AP40 is so quite, it actually might make more noise with the bubbles than the pump. I have also noticed better root growth right after I put it in, my old pump could not run 6 5" round air stones, this one runs that many and 2 14" long stones for res and controller (water level)and I am only using 8 of the 12 ports for air. I found my on ebay for an awesome deal, It was less than 100 shipped.

And not all air stones are 1/4".
