Hello,
I just completed my first grow in my basement. It was a decent success and we cultivated two types of very great strength, but low yield per watt. The room is amazing and keeps a very steady temperature very easily and has adequate space. We grew 15 plants in 3 trays, on a standard ebb and flow system under two 1000 watt HPSs. I used a friends set up in order to have a dry run without putting in too much of an initial investment and some tutelage. Now I am looking forward to doing it alone with a new, better thought out (with this boards help I hope) design.
the space I would like to use is 6'x9' (or 5'x9') but only 6' floor to ceiling high. I think this is where my friends set up lacks sophistication. Our last grow had horrible larfing on the tops and was way to close to the lights. I would like to use a scrog method to maximize the floor space and minimize the effects of the low ceiling.
I would also like to run this set up with lower wattage lights and be able to rotate in vegetables like kales and tomatoes, lets go sustainable everyone. Any thoughts on what would work best would be greatly appreciate.
The room has great ability for ventilation and kept great temperature and low smell, the room itself was a remarkable success. Im my time in this house it has been used for many things but this has been the most positive by far. I am also a prop 215 legal patient with growers certificates, thank you California voters.

I was wondering if home made bubble buckets work just as well as the store bought and if people felt store bought bucket systems were a better long term investment. I would really like to reuse the buckets quite a bit as i swap out vegetables and medicinal.
Also has anyone had any experience with double growth, growing both veggies and medicinal.

So, what's a "grower's certificate"?

a growers cert is a document thats given by cannabis co-ops for patients to legally grow. Its looks real nice hung on the wall of my grow room. Proposition 215 is the legal state legislature for medicinal marijuana. So together I get to grow legally, state legality.

However, I'm pretty sure that I'd try to build my own, first. (good to practice with) That way I know what I'm looking for in a store-bought one.

Wife and I go thru this conversation every year:
Rusty:
"...Yes, honey...I know you love fresh vegetables, but I'd need another 400w MH, another 600w HPS, a larger veg room and a larger flower room..."

Amber: Oh, look...there's a sale on tomatoes..."

Too expensive for me to adjust my grow rooms. Much cheaper to just go down and buy the veggies as needed.

If wattage wasnt a problem, and you could set up a room that took into account vegetables, would it be possible? Or better yet would it require very different conditions?
I havent gotten much fedback and may make a new post that describes my questions better I guess. Maybe I will title it, design your dream set up for $2K in a 6x6x9 foot space... legally....
thanks for all who viewed.

Are you in NorCal 'cuz down here in SoCal I've never heard of such a thing as a "Grower's Certificate"? I've got a med-legal grow and some of it goes to co-ops, but I've never heard mention of a certificate and every little layer of legal protection helps so I'd like to get more info about the certificate. The few co-ops I deal with never heard of them.

I live in san Francisco, and got my certs from OCBC (Oakland Cannabis byers cooperative). Every bit of legal protection helps, especially since my wife acts only as a caregiver, it protects her too. I know they have opened a branch of the OCBC in LA. You should look into it. I love Prop 215.
I will upload a pic of the space, thats what Im assuming was meant.

does the certificate allow you to grow more plants? What is difference between that and just having your Dr. Recommendation? Mine expires next month and I was just going to ask the Doc for an exemption...

your recommendation is key too, I have both on the wall, one goes with the other. the amount of plants is governed by your city or county. Its different everywhere even Oakland from San Francisco. It is an extra safeguard. Its basically a permission slip from the coop i guess. Im not even sure its that necessary but its an added safeguard. What kind of exemption are you talking about?

I am in the reseaarch phase of building a similar room. I have learned that a ton of $$$ can be saved by use flourescent for the veg growth stage, with improved results as well. Then switch to the other lights for flowering. Also, I have a mother plant currently under flourscent, in a combo drip/deep water culture bucket. It is growing like crazy...becoming very full.

My issue is the right starting stock. Does anyone know (a coop) where I can currently find a few good quality clones, and if so what strains? I am prop 420 legal. I live in Orange County, but often travel to LA.

My county just has the 6/12 plant regulations, so you can get an exemption from the Dr. that will allow you to grow more plants. Apparently they will right a number down most I've seen are for 20-30 plants. But I was told that once your exempt there really isnt a # as long as its under 99. Not sure is thats %100 true, just what I was told...

Ive never heard about that but doctors often do things that arent necessarily illegal but not fully covered. Up here docs were giving recommendations for more than 1 year which isnt truly legal. Im not sure about your exemption, my limits are pretty much the same as yours. We get 6/14 here I beleive. It suck though cus we have a dry, cured limit too, very hard to stay under that and stay legal. I dont have any business with clubs, other than as a customer for far too long.
