This is a 3-month-old BOG's Blue Moon Rocks Mother. It is vegging under a 400 MH. Only reason it has not been cloned is because of money issues, so until then, I would like to switch to a smaller light. I don't want this thing to grow any bigger (LOL)! The top part of the plant is starting to get burnt by the light. The question I am asking: "What is the smallest/cheapest type of lamp I could use to promote minimal growth but still be a healthy mom, instead of using the 400 MH?" I was thinking about a T5 2' 4 bulb lamp and adding some flouros on the sides. Let me know what would you do. There is also some sort of def. problem (any ideas to what it is?), and I plan on flushing, then add some fresh nutes. All suggestions are welcomed!! THANKS!

it looks like you're getting the claw, too much nitrogen. there's a couple things you coul do. you could take cuttings and start over. you could spend a week or two slowly trimming the plant down to a more managable size. you don't want to trim too much too quick. it doesn't take much money to do clones. keeping a mother in hydro isn't a good idea. they get "BIG!" t-5's are just great lights. you could also take a bunch of cuts and put them in stasis for a few weeks until you get a few bucks.

How tall is your flower room? She will likely stretch once you get her in there. If you can slowly cut-back the foliage directly under the light, making the top of the plant a cone-shaped hollow, (allowing light to interior of plant) might delay the need to change, till you make up your mind which way to go.
Good time to learn. When you are cutting her back, if that's what you do, try cloning without hormones. Costs nothing but a little bit of your time, and the price of soil.
I'd consider a 250w MH, along with the t-5's to suppliment. You just don't get the same 'kick' with fluorescents, in which light would effectively penetrate only a few inches from lamps. Interior and lower 3/4 of plant would get virtually no light.

Thanks alot for your help (Bongojaz & Rusty Trichome)! Can you fit 25 clones inside of a 10 gallon homemade bubbler cloner? Want to take the cuttings, and with one of those cuttings turn into another mom, then take the old mom and flower her along with the rest of the cuttings. How big will she get? I know that people say that they double in size, but is it really going to get that big?

Nice.

Most likely, yes. Seeing as she appears to be sativa dominant, perhaps even more than double.
I've heard (just a rhumor, I've never tried) that early in flower, MH can slow the stretch, but would double-check that info.
I grow and clone in soil, so can really offer no assistance on bubble cloners or hydro.

I would take some cuttings and make a mama out of 1 or 2.Veg them and flower the large mama. While you are waiting on the other fresh mama. Nothing like a FRESH GURL!
