Well i'm 18 and really have no direction as far as my life goes. It's been a constant thing on my mind for awhile now. I been thinking about going into the Navy for Business management. Anyone here been to the Navy? I'm mainly nervous bout boot camp.

Have you ever talked to a career counselor or someone like that who could guide you toward what your aptitude is? Maybe do some testing to see where your interests and strengths lie? The military is a unique kind of gig and certainly one that's worth considering, although I'd be nervous about both boot camp and the fact that this is wartime. Why the Navy if you're interested in business management? I'm curious about that.

Military is a bad idea if you don't know what you might sacrifice your life for. That's how it has been for a while.
We all have a gift, you need to find it and use it.

I want to be a musician, eneryone tells me I'm a great piano/guitar player, everyone seems to dig my songs, I have these unbelievable jams with people yet they all say I dont have "what it takes" to make it in the business.
Anyway, I know where you're coming from.

I've had no direction in my life since I left school at 16, and am now 18. I've just been out doing what I want and enjoy with no real purpose. Coming towards the end of this year I started putting together plans about my future and the next years of my life to get me on track to where I want to be in my future.
If they all fail, it still doesn't mean I'd join the Navy though.

ya man i'm in your same position im 19 and i havent gone to school the last 3 years i basically just sat on my ass and got my GED. i really need a job or go to school or something haha
The most important thing is to try things out. You think you might like something, then give it a shot. After a while you should know if it's for you or not.
Do be careful with the Navy though, military gigs are a commitment. Not exactly something you can just quit when you don't want to do it anymore.
If you don't know what to try, then I'd say go to college. Find a community college nearby. It can be very affordable. And the point in that is not to say you're gonna start working on a degree and then to get a job right out of college, but it's just to try things out. Take the General Education degree, if you finish it, great, but you don't have to, and don't worry if you don't. Take classes that you think might be interesting. GE classes are a great way to find something you're interested in. From there, you'll probably know what you wanna do.
So if you're really doing nothing and just work at a dead end job or something, I'd say go do some college just to help you get a better chance at finding where you fit in. Figuring out what you want to do, you can't just force it, you have to let it come to you. Don't rush it, don't panic. Be patient and don't worry about it. You'll know when it comes. Hope this helps.

I went to our little community college and between PELL grants, BOG waivers and work/study, I was able to make a modest living by going to school. (made a lot of new connections, too!) My college gave FREE job aptitude testing and had a job board with everything from one day laborer jobs to tutors, to house sitting, to "regular" jobs.
And is your last name really Sweeney with the extra "e"? I have a girl friend who maiden name was Sweeney and she is looking for some lost relatives. I know, it's a long shot, but I had to ask. - Granny:hippy:
