so i thought i would buy a food dehydrator to dry my crop, but after scrutinizing the box and doing a lil research, the dehydrator gets far too hot to dry pot effectively.

I was wondering if there are any electricians or people with experience modifying appliance who could help me figure out if there's a way to get the temp lower, so it would be a more viable option.

I got a Ronco 5 tray food dehydrator, and as far as i can tell it gets around 100F in the drying process.

I was thinking about maybe using it after a water cure.

I don't think that would be a good idea to use the dehydrator.I built this cabinet that has a fan blowing out just like your growroom, fresh in and stale out. Fan at the top and flex at the bottom with drying racks made of sreen and wood to slide in and out.Use a small axil fan.15 cfm would do great for a rubbermaid tub project.

thanks man. I read on some site that you can dry in a dehydrator as long as its under 120F, cuz thats (he said) the temp at which THC content really takes a hit. I think I might try it with a couple plants (Ive been wanting to water cure for a while now, but I was a little afraid to ruin my hard work). The other gals will be taken care of the old fashioned way. I'll make it like an experiment, 2 plants to each method. Ill do some math and see what I come up with (yield, high, taste, etc.)

If I could just figure a reliable way to lower the temp in the dehydrator, it would be the perffffect drying machine. Something like that should really be adjustable imo :wtf:

If you take the cover off there will be an element.Bypass the heating element, then you only use the fan.DO USE A METER,when messin' with electricity.Convection drying? Light has alot to do with curing right.I mean none at all.

well... its gonna be kinda hard to do this now, since i think i have only 25% female BLAH. thats ok tho.. ill just cut the plant weight in half and use half a plant for each method.

Use marijuana multiplication! CLONE! Then you'll have as many as ya want.

yeah i can do that too... but then i have to wait... im thinkin ill go by what happens this time ratio wise to determine which method im stickin with for my first clone batch.

Esaron, I am trying one too, it is easy to defeat the heating coil, just take it apart and cut the wire where it goes into the heating coil, just be careful and dont do it when it is plugged in!!! The one I have has two different coils, so I just cut the larger one, so it still makes a bit of heat, but just one day so far and my first ever crop, so I dont know how it is going to work....you could take it to a handyman or repair shop and have them do it I guess....

Hey, drying in food dehydrator is fast and if you follow directions you can use one also.first go to the hardware store and purchase a light dimmer switch and follow directions.you can adjust temp to almost 70 deg and the fan slows down also,a little experment and you will not notice the difference, and in two days and the smell is green like perfume and the smoke is mild.
