hi guys
1st time grower here - i started seeds before i could get the soil for them, so they began growing in a container full of water.
right now, i have a container of water with a swirling root underwater and a sproutling growing above the water line. the root is getting very long. is it possible for me to plant it like this or is this sproutling basically going to die no matter what?

any help would be appreciated, thanks guys :stoned:

better plant it fast, sunlight will kill a taproot ... at this point, you have nothing to lose :smokin: ...roboscat, is that some sort of answer ? :wtf:

Just put a baggie in your pocket and grab a couple of handfuls from anywhere that hasn't been poisoned. A flower bed, planter, even a vacant lot! Or check the Dollar store or Walmart, You can get enough potting soil for a few bucks- it won't be the best, though.

The main thing is to get that baby into some kind of dirt ASAP! Have the dirt as wet as possible and in a small 8 to 12 oz plastic cup with a hole in the bottom. Save out a little dirt on the side.

Now take a pencil, or other pointy object, and make a wide, deep cone-shaped hole in the dirt. Lower the roots in the hole and gently cover the roots with the dirt you saved out. Water to settle the soil.

Now, likely the soil you got is shitty and will only grow a half-assed plant. Don't hassle it! You will be transplanting fairly soon- just make sure the soil you use then is A-one! The roots will hit the "good stuff" and take off.

Next time, PLAN AHEAD! - Granny:hippy:

i would recommend. some root dip products.
they have some powders you can mix with water
then you can dip these roots in that goopy mess of goodness
before putting them directly in your planting medium

if your using soil, yeah, get some fast as possible
the root system seems vigorous, no prob.
just get it protected with a decent soil medium etc

but use something like these root dip gel/root stimulator etc.
that helps to protect them from drying out to much when they get into the soil
just be careful with em' while moving em
and yeah asap

i have dont stuff like that three times,
not maybe as bad as that, but a sprout is a good sign
plus, people spend lots of money on e-z clone machines
to get big root systems like that

good luck
