Best soil for useing nutes ???

What do you reccomend for the BEST TYPE of SOIL to use if im useing NUTES ???

Example: Potting,Planting,Premix,organic ? I am dumb when it comes to soil hehe...Thanks !!! :rastasmoke: :jointsmile:

find somethig that isn't pre-ferted and add 10-20 perlite for better aeration. seedlings need "no" nutes for the first couple weeks.

Yeah I know that they dont get nutes for about the first 2-3weeks, But what im asking is, can I mix the perlite,wormcastings,and bonemeal to the soil that I use for the seedlings? or should I just use perlite and soil then when I make the first transplant add the bonemeal and wormcastings ???

I start with a basic unfertilized top soil and amend with: perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss to encourage water retention and aeration, and dolomite lime to stabilize pH.

castings and bone/blood meal are carriers of nutrients, so no don't use them.

I start with an expensive, non fertilized potting soil and add 20% perlite, and sometimes 10% vermiculite. Do not put clay pellets in the bottom for drainage. It will hold water there and promote mold, rot and mushrooms. Some clay pellets mixed in the soil is good though. After a couple weeks I start adding (slowly) hydroponic nutrients with waterings PH'd to 6.8.

I've found that using the above techniques the soil is about 6.7 or 6.8 PH, which is a good thing. If yours is not, you need to fix that. To find out, do a soil run-off test or buy an expensive soil meter (not the cheapo ones). For the run off test, when your soil is pretty dry, soak it with PH 7 water and catch the first run-off to measure.
