As the Christmas season approaches rapidly we all think about presents and spending money.
Well when you were a kid did you parents spend a lot of money on you for holidays and birthday? like did you get one huge present each year? and pretty much anything you wanted?
i was never really spoiled the biggest present i got was when i was 15 i got a laptop that i had to keep and use through out high school and college.
what about you?

From my parents I usually received and I still do, one main gift and a bunch of smaller gifts. Maybe 10-15 in all plus some small things in a x-mas stocking.
And John and I usually set up a limit for both of us, this year it's 500 bucks each. So whether thats one huge 500 dollar gift or a few gifts that total that we each spend the most on each other.

I was any thing but spoiled. In my family there were 5 kids, so we were lucky we got "enough" which we always did.
However..... I spoiled my daughter something terrible. She was an only child, and Christmas shopping for her was so much fun, I always went crazy. One year my husband counted where I got her 50 gifts!! LOL! I didn't realize it!
Good times!

between birth to about 7 yes, heavily infact... grandma had a shitload of credit cards... at about 8 grandpa lost his job at the plant and then all the credit card bills started hitting us hard... at about 11 or 12 grandma was filing for bankruptcy, by 13 we were flat broke i ate maybe once a day if that... by 14 bankruptcy was filed and all, and we lost our house, which i cried for days... i had never moved and that was my only home i'd ever known and i loved that house and neighborhood... we had to move from middleclass conditions to living in the shittiest part of town, and living in a house that is constantly falling apart...
you could actually tear down and rebuild the house for cheaper then fixing everything wrong with it (yes it's that bad, but amazingly still liveable...)

that was actually the opposite for me when i was like 5 till like 13 we didn't have very much money, and i was kind of an ungreatful bastard but what ever, and when i turned 13 my father got a job as an oil contractor and we got pretty wealthy, but by that time i didn't really care about gifts. there are much more important things then possesions

Christmas presents and my birthday; I ask for one or two things that I've been unable to buy myself...
other than that..my parents taught me one good lesson..and that was by not giving me everything I wanted but instead made me work for it. I definitely respect the value of property, and anything I own because I know what it's like to have to work hard to get something that you want rather than simply asking for it and receiving it

We were very very spolied children.
If the list was 5 feet long, that's what we got.
Christmas, Birthdays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, ect.....
I'm pretty sure it was all to keep us out of their hair, quiet and content.
A happy child(ren)=a happy set of parents.
We had playrooms are were expected to basically stay there unless hungry.:wtf:

I was definitely spoiled but I turned out pretty humble. We weren't rich or anything. In fact we lived in a roach infested apartment for the first 12 years of my life but somehow my mom made sure I had everything I wanted. And if she said "No" I knew it wasn't because she didn't want me to have it, it was because we probably couldn't afford it... I never did get that easy bake oven...sigh...

My mom used to let me choose whether I wanted to be hit with a newspaper, a slipper, a frying pan or a cat so I guess I was kinda spoiled..............spoiled for choice. I used to wear second hand clothes and get second hand toys and I look at my brothers and sister now (i'm 18) and they get everything they want. Now that i've learnt to make money its all about the Armani, River Island and Lacoste for me

Not material stuff.. my family rather show me love then buy me clothes or a car... not to mention that they(my family) doesn't have the money to buy me all the stuff i want.
so spoiled w gifts? hardly...
spoiled with love?? sure, but in my opinion, that doesn't spoil someone, it makes them better.

My parents didnt spoil me, but I got some nice things. I normally ask for DVDs and clothes. I wont get a ton of stuff, but I enjoy what I do get and they pay my tuition so I dont complain. My birthday is right before christmas so I normally dont get very much for my birthday.
This year my boyfriend is spoiling me though. He's going to get me an ipod for my birthday/christmas.

Hell naw, My mom hardly gave a shit one way or the other about me. emotionally or material wise.. She always has been and always will be broke and if anyone like My aunts would give me shit, she would take it away and give it to someone for their birthday later on instead of buying them something. I got a barbie once and she said that I was too much of a tomboy to like barbies and gave it to the neighbor. ahh childhood memories... My step father gave me shit, but he was grooming me so it dont count..
