View Full Version : 2nd Grow from Clones and THC Bomb seeds

Well the time has arrived to start my next crop.
My intention this crop is to grow the best sisters of the first crop and get 2 or 3 good laidies from the THC Bomb seeds. I am going to have to thin this crop in the future so it is going to seem large at the start.
Thinning is going to be very hard for me due to I have never intentionlly killed a female plant. But the goal is keep the best.
Crop list:
9 clones from the first crop, one from each female. 5 White Widow, then 4 mystery seed that came with the W/W seeds from the seedbank, and 5 THCB from seed that I aquired from a friend of a fellow grower.
The first pic is the cloan box. All 9 first cloans have rooted and are in soil.
Second pic is cloan box with lid off. 6 of the clones are healthy and growing. 3 are alive but barely hanging in there.
Third pic is my clone and plant log for both grows. this is to track every plants qualities.
Fourth pic is of my cloans that are barely hanging on. This was my first attempt at cloaning and they weren't set in the rockwool cubes well.
The fifth pic are of my back up clones taken 2 days ago. 2 are from top performers in my first grow so I don't want to lose them.
I have more pics I am going to put them in another post.

Here are pics of the germination of the THCB seeds. Started with 8 seeds and 5 sprouted last night and were put in soil.
1st pic is of sprout 6 and went imeadiatly in soil. I used the paper towel and baggie method and placed it on my cable box for warmth. Germination took 32 hours for the first 5, 6th took 40 hours.
2nd pic is of how I labled each container for future identification.
3rd pic is my nursery closet. With a 175 watt MH lamp.
Next week I am going to get another 600 watt ballast. for my veg box.
I currently have a 600 watt flower box going with plants in their 3rd week of flowering.

I transplanted a few cloans today to 2 gallon buckets, they will remain in these containers for 4 weeks. this a step by step way that I do it.
PIC 1: I fill the buckets with soil 2/3 full I then place an empty container that I used for starting where I want to place the plant. ( I did mine on the side due to I plan on doing LST. Putting the plant on the side makes it easier to train the plant to go around the edges of the buckets). I then add more soil till to the top of the empty container.
PIC 2: I have packed the soil down and removed the container leaving a perfectly shaped hole for the plant.
PIC 3: This pic demonstrated when it is time to transplant
PIC 4: This pic showes the root growth inside the old container.
PIC 5: This pic is after I have dropped the plant into the perfectly sized hole and is ready for water.
The containers are then labeled for easily identified in the future.
I hope this is good information for all.

Well I had good success again!!
Started with 8 seeds and 7 popped and 7 spouted of the THCB first coulple of pics are of them look healthy so far except like an idiot I fogot to put a fan on them until tonight. I like to keep my nodes nice and tight.
I did go a little crazy yesterday though. I read the FAQ on pruning and saw I did not prune my firs crop properly so had at and ended up with 43 new cloans from just the best plants of my first grow. They all came from the bottom of the plants where small branches were growing way under the canopy and would have never made it to anything but drain energy from the main buds.
I have to really think about what I do next with thease clones. The main reason I did it was had to prune, they had to be removed, I need experience at cloaning, I have the material to cloan. Sounds like a good oppertunity to learn. So walla
I am thinking of doing a true sog grow. I sow where oppi yutes did one " 50 cloans in rockwool"
Or anyone got any other ideas?

Well I ordered a 400w MH last night I need it bad. With my 175 the THCB sprouts are streaching like a MF even with a fan on them. Nothing like when I started my first grow. It may be the strain, but I am very worried, they are 3 inches tall and barely started the first set of 1 finger leaves, the stems are very weak. My first grow when they were 3" tall they were on their first set of 5 finger leaves. Guess that is the differance between 600watts and 175 watts. I know your going to ask the light is 8" from the tops of the sprouts.
I do have more seeds, if things don't improve I may just start over or just go with the cloans and what survives from these sprouts.
I will post pics tonight when I get a chance to check on them.

I don't know, I haven't had that problem with the stretch but I use much less light than that for new seedlings. I think that I would try moving them out of the light a little?

Well my first crop were started under the 600 watt before they even popped out of the soil, so I don't think it is a too much light issue. I think I F'ed up by not putting a fan on them untill 2 days after popping up, when they were 1 1/2" tall, my first crop I had a fan blowing on them just as they were coming out of the soil.
I think I was a little over exagerating when I said I may toss them and start over. I will probably give them a little support with wooden skewers until the stems harden a bit and go from there.
I can't wait untill I get the new 400w MH light. The good thing is this crop is preventing me from over loving my flowering crop. I do LOVE WATCHING THEM GROW THOUGH.

Well here are the pics.
1st one is all of them in the nursery.
2nd is my solution to the weak stem. It comprises of an LST stake and a small paper binder. that will hold it up until the stem hardens a bit.
3rd is a deformed one don't know if it is going to make it. the first set of finger leaves are all currled up in side.
4th is a side view of one of the healthy ones.
5th is a pic of the rooted cloans. doing very well starting to notice growth daily.

12-16-2007, 11:44 PM
Well got a lot done today.
First 2 pics are of 2 cloans that were ready to start LST. I use cut up coat hangers with one end bent like a fish hook.
3rd pic is of my modified bubbler cloaning box. I added a fish tank air pump and took the hose and a pin then punctued the hose about every inch and plugged the end of the hose. I then spread out the hose over the bottom of the water tray. I then added just enough water to cover the hose. Turn on the pump and produces a bunch of tiny bubbles. I also got a heating pad from the drug store for $13.00 and put that under the water tray. I set it to the lowest setting and keeps it around 85 deg. I then added 2-27 watt cfl's at both ends shining to the middle.
I hope this is a good set up for now. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong.
4th pic is of the results of leaving the door open and leaving for a second only to return and find your dog thought (hmmmm looks like grass lets taste it.) Yes my dog ate 3 sprouts. So whent to back up plan. put 4 more seeds in a towel so they will only be 5 days behind not much.
5th pic is my new nursery design, got the cloan box out it has its own area now. Added a T-12 shop light and 6500 k daylight bulbs placed it so it is 1" above the top of the sprouts this should stop the streching.
Oh yeh, yes my dog is still alive, dogs will be dogs. She is just banned from the growroom.

Here is an update and pics. Sorry for the lines but that is caused by the florells.
1st pic is one of the better cloans that has been LST'ed for I think 6 days. you can see how the side shoots are starting to really grow out that one is already 2'' long.
2nd & 3rd pic is of all the cloans they are all growing well and under LST except for one that is slow starter but starting to show good growth.
4th pic is of a cloan
trying to capture the the growth of the side shoots. All these all will turn into main colas.
5th pic is of the 3 THCB sprouts and one cloan that is just starting to look promising. I hope it pulls thru, it is from one of my best producers in my first grow.
Jerry Garcia 2007
12-27-2007, 04:14 AM
Well it has been a few days and things are going well except for one.
1st pic is an overhead view of them in there home for now untill I build my veg box in the next coulple days. I did get my 400w MH the other day and put it up right away so far so good in the closet temp wise, I leave the door cracked a few inches.
2nd pic is of the one cloan that is from what Image Reaper says is light stressed doesn't even look like a MJ plant except I am seeing new growth at some nodes that looks normal for now , very tiny growth. Anyone have luck bringing a girl back to health from this point, because her mommy is very very very pretty.
3rd and 4th pic is showing the new shoots coming from the nodes from LST
5th is a great close up of the new growth from the nodes every one of them is going to be a very nice cola.
More pics are coming!!!

More pics,
1st and 2nd pic are of the THCB plants from seed one runt that had a bad start is growing well now plus one new sprout I started due to the dog incident.
3rd pic is of the cloans mommies, looking heavy and more than 3 weeks to go, starting to smell lovely too.
4th and 5th pic are of the clones that have rooted and were taken when I pruned the mommys 2 weeks into flower. 16 so far out of 43 more have started rooting ran out of contaners get more tomarrow.
well that is about it got to go.

Well getting toward the final set up for my grow room.
Here are some pics.
1st pic:
Is my new nursery cabinet. 2'w x 4'l x 2'h, two 4' ,t-12, 2 bulb 6100k lamps. Used 4'x8' sheets of white boards in the construction of all boxes.
2nd pic:
Is my flower box, 4'x4'x7' 600w HPS, 2- 4'' inline fans with charchol can filters, outside air cooling.
3rd pic:
Is the nursery box with top off, as you can see this will accomidate a lot so it will serve as first stage veg box as well. Also almost all my cloans have rooted this is going to be a massive grow!
4th pic:
Is a veiw inside my veg box 3'x3'x3', 400w Mh, no ventaltion yet, using natural convection for the moment. cloans are coming along nicely. Flushed them yesterday, seem to have loved it.
5th Pic:
Is the exterior of the veg box.

One other thing watering before last on veging cloans and thcb seeds used my mollases mix didn't seem to like it so much. That is part of the reason for flush. I -flushed with water, hydogen peroxide and ph down, watering ph was 5, soil ph was close to 8, after flush soil ph dropped to 6.5 today they are a lush green except for seedlings. Seedlings are still lighter green but responding well to the flush. I didn't incorperate mollases in my first grow untill flowering and they responded great to it because I did not learn about it till then in the FAQ section and it was recommended for veg and flower up until the last week of flower. Now I am under the impresion I started it to early while they are in new soil and still to sensitive, so I am goin to cut mollasses out until later in veg cycle when the plants have started to use up the naturally occuring sugars in the new soil. " learning experience".
Jerry Garcia 2007
12-30-2007, 03:01 PM
Wow!!!
Get plants into a good enviroment they let you know quick. Since flushing and and new box the plants responded by turning a dark forest green and puting out new shoots, they are responding with rapid growth finally.
As for the smaller cloans in the nursury box all have turned a dark green also no more yellow they have started to absorb the nuted from the soil. A sure sign they are rooting and able to take in nutriants:) no new growth yet but that is comming:)
I am still wondering how I am going to flower 36 plants in a 4x4 space. That leaves an 8"x8" space for each plant. I am thinking along the lines of 8 rubbermaid tubs with 5 to 6 plant each in them.
Any Ideas:)

Well harvested my first 2 plants from the first grow so now I have space and this is the first cloan to go in the flower box.
The other cloans are not far behind all are growing extremely fast. They respond to LST in hours like nothing happened, in other words extremely healthy.
The THCB plants are growing very well also they will be ready in about 2 weeks.
The timing of this grow and my first couldn't be more perfect.

Well it has been awhile since I updated this log. All the cloanes are in the flowering box:) It is very tight in there now but looking very nice.
2 cloans have been in there for a week and 5 others were put in there 3 days ago.
They have been veging for 6 weeks. They are at least 2x the size of their moma's at this age.
I am going to start with pics of the moma's next to their twin sisters. There are a lot of pic so this is going to be multiple posts.

Wow it has been 2 weeks since I updated this!!
I have really been caught up in my first grow that is now harvested dried and is curing. Wow fabulous stuff.
Well these are current pics of my second grow.
This grow I changed up and am following the FF feeding schedule and doing compleate through waterings every 5 days currently. As you can see unbelievable growth the tallest one in the back is 36'' tall. She is fron one of my average performers. I hope she doesn't get much taller I'm going to run out of room soon or change my light hangers.
All the cloans are in the back of the cabinet and are 3 to 2-1/2 weeks into flower. And the 3 Thcb plants are closest to the door, and are 1-1/2 weeks into flower. This grow is huge compared to my last space is deffinetly maxed with 9 plants.

If that lil bit of stretching your seein in the juvie stage is your only problem , your rockin bro. :) I try to prevent it by keeping a 23-26w cool cfl w/in a inch or two of em as soon as the seed breaks ground . Be careful w/ the big H.I.D's at such a young age ,I've gotten away w/ using a 1000 hps word go w/o probs. , and I've bleached em almost white a time or two also = costing myself 2 weeks or so recovery from light stress .
I'm real interested in seeing some budshots and a smoke report on the THC Bomb . I was gifted a few of these from a friend and planned on doing them next grow .
Peace

Well is has been a week now and everything is going great:)
The pics are the plants in the tub getting their first feeding of final bloom nutes. This consists of all FF products. 1-tsp. growbig, 2-tsp. tiger bloom, 1/4 tsp. cha-ching, and 1 tsp. ph down per gallon of water. As you can see the my plants all are that healthy deep forest green. I am currently watering every 5 days with one gallon per plant alternating nutes and plane water. When watering I pour one gallon of water or feeding solution in the bucket, let them drain in tub for a 1/2 hour, then place back in the flower box.
Plants are looking very bushy and filling with buds, they are in 3 different stages 1 plant is just finishing week 4, another is in the middle of week 4 and the rest are in the middle of week 3. They range in hight of 24'' to 40'' .

Thank you all for the comments,
Sorry Krispi but no pics of the THCB this time. They are doing very well though. They are catching up hight wise to the cloans but are in the begining stages of full bloom, the buds are just begining to form and it is difficult to get pics of.
I can't wait to see these cloans in 3 weeks when they start to ripen. I got a total of 430 grams or just over 15 ounces from my first grow with the same number of plants. So I am expecting around 20 to possiably 30 oz. from this grow, this is based on the size and more main colas in this grow, it is at least 2 times the size of my first grow.
I would like to add that seeing the differance now in size and Potential Yeild it is well worth the extra veg time!!! My first grow was a 5 week veg this was a 7 week veg and it will more than likely almost double my yeild ( this is a guess but even 5 more ozs. this grow will make it worth it)

I am a little worried about my babies while I am on vacation but I did a very thurough watering before I left and have my girlfriend monitoring them.
I am going to give some insite on what I am finding on my second grow.
If you are growing from seed and planing on keeping a mother for cloans or just find your favorite out of a group of seeds. I am finding that my first grow wasn't that great and did not get the full potential out of each individual female. So some females that I was going to write off as under achiever's are actually great performers with good nute plans. (was hit or miss first grow)
Now my recommendation is grow a plant twice from the same female before writing her off. I am finding this grow some of my best performers and yeilders are the runts from the first grow.
Deaner,As for hydro, Not for me, I am goin to try one more grow this is my last indoor flowering this indoor season. I am preparing for my outdoor gorrilla grows for the upcoming outdoor season.

I've recently found myself in a similar situation. I'm trying to decide on which variety from the last grow I'm going to grow this time. I am pretty sure that I will be growing the Bubblegum, which was the lightest yeild (runt) last time. But, previous grows from this variety were quite normal in regards to yeild. The potency is tops.
I'd love to do a guerilla grow as my last outdoor crop was stolen. I'll be looking for some ideas from you.

Shove,
When it comes too gorrilla grows don't put all your eggs in one basket. Right now I am searching for good locations that are along east to west tree lines on the south facing side, (this type of location gives maximum direct sunlight for the entire grow). The next most important thing is a water source that is close by that will not dry up in the middle of the summer. Next look for good natural cover vegitation That will blend in well with the deep green color of the mature mj plant. I look for large brier patches or certain tree vines they work well.
I already have 2 prospective spots and need 3 more for a total of 5 locations. Then I will put around 7 to 10 plants in each location. (try to use the same varietes in all locations so if one is found you don't loose that variety entirely.
Basically it boils down to plan on lossing at least one grow location, but you have others as a backup.
Well got to go. snowing like crazy today so we are taking the day off and going on a photo safari today.

Well made it back home last night with no injuries, just memories of sking the best resort with 24'' of fresh powder. Best sking I have ever experienced in my life while smoking the best smoke I have ever grown, Life is good :)
Well back to my grow, Sorry no pics till tonight due to everything was very dry and spent all night mixing nutes and watering. I have 4 grows all in different stages going right now, ranging from rooting cloans to this grow, I am completely out of space.
As for this grow, WOW WHAT A WEEK MAKES :)
They needed water but growth was astounding. I need to go and get supplies to support the branches before they topple over. Also the mini drought helped resin production:) They are sparkling with trics and very sticky.
Well pics will come tonight when the lights come on.

Sorry spoke to soon on harvest. After looking at the trics the plant does not appear ready
My last grow I was more pressed to harvest. This one there is no pressure.
QUESTION: when is the best time to harvest?
Current conditions: Oldest plant is 8 1/2 weeks into flower. Trics are 60/40 clear/ cloudy, no amber, new pistols are still emerging.

These pics are of plant W/W #9
This plant was one of my smaller plants my first grow, mom had nute lock early in flower and never really recovered.
I almost did not cloan this plant due to performance.
I am so glad I kept a cloan of every plant:)
This goes to show. Cloan every female seed plant at least once to make sure of the plants rating.
Ok here are the plants specs.
Source: Amsterdamseeds.nl I think that address is correct. I'll have to look this up later.
Weeks into Flower: 8.5
Hight: 33.5''
Width at max: 18''
Largest Cola Width: 2.75''
XXL Cola's: 3
XL Cola's: 9
Well here are the pics enjoy.

Well at this point of the grow I think I am going to start doi something everyone will enjoy:)
Plant of the Day!
I figure I have 9 plants = 9 days
And when the overwhelming response was let them go till first sign of amber trics. Well by the looks of things that is a ways away.
So here are tonights pics. But first are the stats.
Strain: THC Bomb
Source: Gifted from fellow grower that does not cloan. He polinates a female when he needs more seeds.
Age: 7 weeks
Hight: 29''
Width: ? explain later
Largest Cola Width: 2.75''
XXL Cola's: 4
XL Colas: 8
Notes: This is the first grow for this strain and looks very impressive. But when you look closer I am not sure about this female (have 2 more). The buds look huge but are very airy and not much tric production yet (compaired to other strains)
This strain looks like a long bloomer so ripening my not have kicked in yet. Reason I say that is after 7 weeks of flower she is producing pistols like week 4 still.
Next this strain needs space. All females are bushes and want to spred out. I have limited room so I had to put 4 long stakes in the dirt and rap a wire around them to keep all of them compact.
Well enjoy:)
Jerry Garcia 2007
03-09-2008, 12:08 AM
Well todays Plant of the Day is W/W #4
Stats,
Source: Amsterdamseeds.nl
Age: 8 weeks into flower
Hight: 41''
Width: 20''
Largest cola width: 2''
XXL Colas: 4
XL Colas: 9
Notes: This again is one of the plants that moma got nute burn last grow and did not perform well in fact nothing like this one.
This Widow is pretty much the opposite of W/W #9. This one seems more sativa dominant judging by the growth and buds. She is the tallest plant this grow and the buds are smaller and dencer than #9 but there are a hell of a lot of them.
She is still producing pistols but slowing down most are red, and the trics are 70/30 clear/cloudy.
Sorry last pic is not of the plant, the full plant shot and can't remove it.
Jerry Garcia 2007
03-10-2008, 10:08 PM
Well sorry I am a day behind so you will get double your plant of the day pics today!
Well this is W/W #6. I don't know why all my widows are completely different looking except that seeds from Amsterdamseeds.nl are from an unstablized strain. No complaints about the quality of the high but if I am paying over $75.00 for seeds I would expect a stabilized seed stock. Meaning the plants will look very close to the same. So this leaves open the question. Am I getting exactly what I orderd?
I remember Oppi Yutes talking about this subject and beware of most seed banks overseas.
Well onto the Stats.
Strain: White Widow
Source: Amsterdamseeds.nl
Hight: 26''
Width: Unknown / very bushy had to be coralled for space.
Largest Cola Width: 1.75''
XXL Colas: 0
XL Colas: 20+
Notes: As I was saying this widow is completely opposite widow #9. This one the buds are small but extremely abundant, buds are covered with trics and look very good more sativa dominant.
The plant is growing like a shrub. Branches every which way as you can see in the pics.
Well here they are.

XXL Colas: 4

Notes: This is a nice plant, Smaller than THCB#3 but the buds are tighter and forming trics noticeabley daily:)
Can't wait to see these ripen they are going to be heavyweights.

Here are some recent pics of mystery plant #8.
This plant is a true mystery and I want to solicite your help in identifing her.
Unfortunatly I can't capture this description with my cell phone camera but I am going to do my best to describe it.
Well to start this plant produces white, purple, and white purple pistols. Now when I use the loupe I can see purple cylexes deep in the buds. She has always been a very dark green compaired to the other plants.
She is also a heavy resin producer as you can see in the pics. Also she is at the start of week 9 of flower.

Buchie,
Very nice grow you have going. You are right I have taken MJ growing seriously and it is starting to show, I have always wanted to do this, just to see how well I could do it. The biggest problem I have now is I was planning on a 8 to 9 week flower cycle and that just passed on my youngest plants the oldest is about to start week 11 and still producing flowers. The issue is I have summer grow cloanes with nowhere to go untill the babies are harvested and this extra time is throwing everything out of sinc.

looking great dude. real interested in what kinda yeilds you are gonna end up with, do you think you are gonna do better in that area this time with more experience, they look huge now. i gotta look into your nute schedule.
Jerry Garcia 2007
03-14-2008, 10:20 PM
Deaner,
Thanks for checking in.
How much more or less am do I think I am going to yeild this grow over last?
To be honest 50% to 100% more. I harvested way to early last grow due to needing to recoupe expences and inexperiance. My biggest problem last grow was not watering properly and over nuting, causing nute lock. Now that I got a good nute and watering schedule down and can afford to buy $100.00 of FF products.
To be honest, the first grow is a MF on the wallet, after harvest though, that all changes.:)
Then you can take your time letting the plant get to its maxium potential, and get anything you need when you need it.
And it shows this grow.
I think there is even a possiablity I may even get over 2lbs out of 9 plants this grow. I should know that answer in about a month :)
Well lights On!
Time to go pick the Plant Of the Day:)

This is the plant that was producing the purple pistols and could see purple cylex's deep in the buds. Well now the outer cylex's are turning purple now!! And she also a very heavy resin producer also.
I have never seen anything like this except as the centerfold of High Times.

I went back to the web site where I got the seeds ( by the way I was wrong on the address in previous posts the correct address is amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com) and went thru their varieties and found PURPLE POWER was a match
So from now on she will be known as Purple Power #8 (PP 8)
Irie yes I do have cloans going of her and 2 mothers. I kept a mother of every plant untill I see every plants qualities after 2 grows. I plan on 2 W/W, all Mystery, PP8, Blueberry. I also have 5 seeds left of the mystery :) so I need to grow them sometime soon.

Well this baby is unfortunatly looking like a lamb in wolfs clothing. She appears to be a monster as you can see in the pic with the Tiger Bloom (used as a reference to the size of the colas) but they are very fluffy, plus resin production is ok but no where close to the other strains. She is still young so there is still time. Also I don't want to discourage this strain becase THCB #1 looks like the one that is going to be the mother of this strain, you will see when her day comes.
She does make for great pics though.

Well tonights POD is my tallest by far at 41'' to top of soil, She kind of grew weird, 4 colas streched like crazy then the bottom just bushed out at 30'' close to the rest of the crop.
She seems to be going into another flowering, in the last couple days new pistiol's have covered all the buds, which are very thight and heavy. The best size description is a ping pong ball, or a very large thumb (double the size of mine).
Opps got a pic of my trip to Vail in there, ahhh WTF its a good one so I left it in.

Well todays POD just happens to be THCB#1 so take a look. She is the best of the 3 femals as far as qualities.
Yes they all are short and bushy plants, look to produce good weight.
Honestly though, I don't want to pass any recommendations untill final smoke report.

She is 79 Days into flowering, and just coated with trics, for some reason it was hard to capture them in pics but I did manage to get a coulple of good pics.
Here are her final stats:
Hight: 29''
Max Width: 19''
Largest Cola Dia: 2.75''
4 Main Cola's length of pure Bud: 12'', 12'', 10'', 8''
Resin production: A+++
Bud Description: They are very large and Thick :), they are a light green in color with small thin golden pistols, cylex's are large and covered in tric's that give this cotton candy look to the entire bud.
Overall this plant is a Winner. Great bud production of Top Shelf Dank. I can't wait to try her :)

Since I have completely neglected my other log I guess I will kind of blend it into this one.
Just a little background, I started these cloans just to get practice, during my first grow while pruning the undergrowth in week 4 of flower. I started with I think 42 cuttings, 36 rooted, and 25 made it to flowering. So being me I can't kill a healthy plant decided to flower them in the vege box and move them into the flower box as this crop was harvested. well my timing was for 8 weeks, not 12 so these things have been flowering under a 400w M/H for 6 weeks.
Buds on this grow are tiny compared to this grow but I do have the best of my stock groing in it. And they make for some awsome pictures.
The first three are of Mystery Plant #15
She is showing purple also but is different than PP8, so I think she is a different strain.
The second and third pics are of the totally awsome Blueberry, best smoke out of all of them, from my first grow.
The reason these 2 are not in this grow is I am finding they both are very difficult to cloan and did not survive my first cloaning attempt and only 9 this attempt. I do have a mother going of both that are very heathy :)
Well here are the pics.

It has been 3 days now of uninterupted darkness, she has come out looking Sweeeet.
-
She is definetly more yellowish and super sticky, the pistols have turned this reddish color.
1st pic is just when she came out and still held up with support rods.
2nd pic is of her after I removed all fan leaves and gave her what I would call a haircut and the support rods have been removed. This is a birdseye look to show how much she spred out from the weight.
3rd pic is a side view to show the same.
4th & 5th pic are bud close ups.
Well now she gets cut off at the trunk and hung in the closet for what looks like 2 weeks to me, judging by her size.

I am now in completely uncharted territory on this plant. She was placed in the flower box on 1/9 and is 83 days into flower. She is about to go thru another burst of new pistiol's. This plant seems to show no signs of flowering compleation and just keeps going and going.
My question is should I keep her going or off with her head?
Deaner, you are right there is no "pink" that is caused by lighting and Cell phone camera, but it is close the pink is actually red pistols.
Smokey, as you can see the harvest is beginning, I go by trichs so it it is a day by day process untill I see amber trichs.

Overnight she turned a noticably reddish color. I checked the trics yesterday and saw no amber. Tonight there were several.
Well I took these pics just before I put her in the darkness untill Monday night.

Irie,
Thanks for stopping by. As for the bud size, you and your friend are right. I have never grown buds this big before and I attribute to several things.
First is this web site! If not for this site I would be going about this blind and have no idea what to do.
Second a good and consistant nute program that has no mollasses in it! I use to think it was great but over time it was causing nute lock in my first grow, so this grow I cut it out and never had any yellow leaves untill the plant is ready for harvest.
Third is patience, patience, patience. Again if not for this site I would have harvested at 8 weeks thinking that was it. Now I know it can take up to 12 weeks to finale maturity.
Greenleaf,
You have a valid point. when I have a serious concern I go to other forums to get a quicker answer to the issue then post it in my log.
But it is nice to see who is watching and visit there logs.

Well yesterday I checked trich's and every cloan started to show amber trich's except of course WW#9. So needless to say, yesterday and this morning were very busy and dirty. I transplanted the summer grow cloans into the veg box (finally only 3 weeks longer than planed). Consisting of a mix of only the best of both grows. I will go into details later.
Well now back to the harvest of PP#8. As you can see she finished off very elegantly. She is this incredible purple color covered in this crystal outer shell.
She went a total of 74 days in the flower box.
Hight: 20''
Width: 24''
Largest Cola dia.: 2.75
Length of Pure bud on Colas: 10'' 6-total
Bud Desciption: Of course purple in color and very dence and heavy, not huge though.
This plant stayed short and very bushy and did not need much support, Smell is a pleasant mild herby smell, not skunky. My thoughts are this would make for an excellent outdoor plant. I have 4 going in my next grow, so I will find out.
Well here are the pics, since this seems to de everyone's favoite this is going to be a double post to double your pleasure:)

One other thing is I can't wait to give the smoke report on her, problem is she is so dense that drying is going to take a long time on her and I hope the color will remain the same or close,
Any thought on how to dry and cure with the colors staying the same as at harvest?

Deaner,
Thanks for checking in.
A camera would be nice:) Maybe I will get one after this grow.
Yes I use only FF nutes and they work great as you can see. I do not use their soil though, I use MG moisture control and it works fine. Reason being I can not see paying close to $200.00 per grow just for soil. When I paid $36.00 this grow in MG soil. I know there is a lot of critisimum of MJ soil as being "junk" but this grow just goes to show it works just fine.

I bought grow big and tiger bloom last year for my previous grow, but this grow it seems as though the nutes are going bad or something. I still have over 3/4 bottle of each and dont wanna waste my money but also dont wanna waste my time growing tiny buds. should i buy all new FF nutes or stick with my older bottles?
oh yeah i forgot to add " DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN MAN" those are some purple buds. to bad we all cant smell those girls up close.

So here are the pics. First 2 are before triming, Next 3 are after trimming. She is now in the closet hanging.

This plant is going to be the one hit wonder but smallest yeilder. The buds are tiny compared to the others but the biggest resin producer by far, it is like the plant wanted to forget about growing buds but lets ooooz with resin. I could hardly trim her because the leaves are coated with trics. So this smoke is going to be leafy but killer.
Stats: 26'' tall, but very bushy,
Largest Cola Width: 2''
Longest cola of pure bud: 8''

This girl is a mystery because I forgot to mark what she was somewhere down the line, I have determined she is a WW by her characteristics. She seems to be a combo of #4 and #6 the leafs are similar to #6 and the buds are like #4 and resin production is excellent. This baby is going to give me some nice heavy budage and a lot of it.
The cola's when you shake them are like clubs.

Well that concludes today's harvest:) and I am just over the halfway point!
I still have four more to go, 3 THC Bomb and WW#9
Diahashi, Thanks for stopping by, Gl with your grow, just be patiant they will tell you when they are ready
Butchie, Nice grow but yes the daily attention is mostly just checking on them, it is watering days that were the chore.
To answer your questions,Yes in week 4 of flower or when the buds are producing enough leaves to support photosynthisis I remove all the lower fan leaves to expose all the lower buds to direct light then any growth from 6'' up from the soil, I also leave the top 4 sets of cola leaves as long as it is not directly over a lower cola. There has been a lot of debate on this as being benificial so you be the judge.
Hydro, Thanks for checking in my guesstimate on total weight this grow is 1.5 to over 2 Lbs. out of 9 plants, a 4'x4'x7' box, and a 600 watt HPS. I remember a ways back in basic growing forum someone asked is it possiable to get 2 Lbs. from 1-600 watt HPS. Well I think I have answered that question:)

First pic: is of the harvested plants hanging around in the closet.
2nd pic: is cola of mystery using the flash. The colors are off but shows the reflection from the trics nicely.
3rd pic is a close up of the plant in natural dim light.

Yes I do have an early smoke report:):)
She still has a leafy taste at first but in a good sincimila way, and get this Irie the rush hits you like a club, then settles into a good energetic body high. It is still a little early to give a true taste report but she is going to be some excellent smoke.
1st pic again natural light.
2nd artificial cfl lighting shows some trics.
3rd with cfl again and flash colors way off it is not blue but reflection from the trics, I thought it was pretty cool.
4th is natral light again
5th I figured everyone was wondering about is PP8 in natural light so far she is retaining the color.

So Jerry, I took your advice and gave most of the older girls a hair cut/trim. Took off a good percentage of fan leaves and under-growth, It has been 3-4 days since I did it and they arent showing any signs of torture. Approximately how long did it take for them to recover? Did you keep them on the same feeding schedule pre/post haircut?
Pics 1-2: pre cut (lights on)
Pics 3-5 post cut 3-4 days later (lights off)

Butchie,
You are past the streach phase so you will notice the buds start to swell and just keep getting bigger and bigger over time this is a slow process and best observerd over a week period.
You are in the easiest phase for the grower but one of the most common times the grower over loves the plant and over nutes. Give the plants a good thurough watering when the bucket gets lite approximately 4 days between judging by your plants size. Alternate between nute formulated water and plane water. And just sit back and let them do there thing. Just check on them to make sure everything is ok. And you should be good to go.
JG.

Today Mystery 3 snaped when bent so she is ready for curing.
She dried to a very sticky fluffy kind of bud the tops dried to a large 1.75'' dia.
Now what just blew me away was the weight. She came in at 97g or 3.5 oz.:) :) :)
This is just a light fluffy plant!! WW #9 and 4 are going to be unbelievable yeilders. By the way #9 is still going strong, starting to yellow but trics are still mostly clear.

Now this plant is a Frog untill you kiss a joint Then she is a Prince or should I say Princess:)
This is the plant that produced heavy amount of resin but tiny buds, hence very leafy making the buds look like some home grown crap ( that you grew when you were a teenager in the 70s ) from a distance. Then when you touch it you notice it wants to stick to your fingers, then you sniff your fingers and you say "Hmmm", then you break it up and notice your fingers get coated in resin, now you roll a joint of it and it is like using a rolling machine because the paper sticks to the MJ and tucks nicely under the overwrap. Now your thinking this may be some decent smoke, so you light it up and take a hit. Nice and smooth good taste, not the cloriphilic leafy taste you expected, then a nice hashy aftertaste. Then you start to get a rush that is so strong you have to lean on something or you will fall over!! Then when you come to your senses you exclame "HOLY SHIT THAT'S SOME GOOOOOOD SMOKE" by now you are on the couch and about half way thru the joint you forget your smoking a joint and it goes out, and you say that's enough.
Sorry but can't attach pics will be in next post.:(

Btw, here are a few corrections to that sentence above since you're such a grammar Nazi. For future reference if you're going to do something like this then be sure to use proper grammar yourself or else you just look like an idiot.
I'm sorry but you're not the only one on these boards who has had trouble with simple English. This bothers me.
Your horticulture skills are unparalleled. Good job Sir.
The corrections should be obvious and I'm not going to point them out. JG I'm sorry about this being in your log. I just don't like when people are arrogant/condescending without having any reason, talent or intellect to justify it.

Judging by the feedback you can see how everone feels about the way you handled that!!!
You do have a valid point and I do my best not to butcher the english language, but occaionally I will mess up, I am only an occaionally stoned human and we all are not perfect. Plus there is no spell or grammer check on the device I use to post with and I was usually stoned and slept thru english class in school so my spelling is not the greatest.
No bad feelings just think before you post.
So lets move on! Next post final harvest and smoke report on Purple Power #8.

Now that I have come to my senses this is also some excellent smoke. I always wait to test a quality of a plant is to be the first of the day, so to get a true sample.
Well when cutting her up to roll the center is still purple. You can still see purple from the buds but not as noticable as before drying.
She has great resin crystals covering the buds. Rolls just as nice as WW#6 and burns perfectly.
The taste is a smooth sweet fruity taste that finishes with no real after taste. This one doesn't hit you like a sledg hammer, but slowly creaps up on you then wacks the hell out of you, that leaves you in a functioning Ahhhhhhhhh state of mind for about an hour.

Sorry Deaner and Grow Me, the plants so far are from my first attempt ever at cloaning. Only the THCB are from seeds which are enormous right now.

For a small plant she is a damn good producer of resin covered purple buds, I got them under better light and yes they are purple with light light green leaves, completely covered in resin crystals.
She topped out at 101 grams or 3.6 oz. of prime bud.:) :):):)
So this is the end of round one of harvest. Currently 5 out of 9 plants I have a total yeild of 526 grams or 1 lb. and 2.79 oz.
It is going to be close to my 2 lbs. goal with 4 to go. But I still have WW #9 waiting she should be the heaviest by far. You got to wait a week for her.Sorry.

There is only one description of her "Big Fat Moma" Please don't take offence laidies.:)
The colas are the biggest thing I have ever seen at an incredable 4'' diameter and are so top heavy that they are bending the support rods like a spring.
Resin production is good but nothing like the cloan's. But is going to produce the largest buds I have ever seen.
Jerry Garcia 2007
04-10-2008, 02:25 AM
She is the smallest of the 3, producing nice tight buds that are more resinous then the others, buds are much smaller than #3.

Zeb, I am not a FF rep, but FF seems to pride itself on being 100% organic. I can see your concerns becase it appears not to be in granular form, I do know there are several ways to get the nutes from nature, Uria (Animal Piss) is one source for nitrogen, as an example. and can be concentrated and dried into a granular form
Irie, Yes I am using the 3 granular form when called for on the chart. also I noticed that your are not using the big bloom, I recomend it because it has some of the best natural nutes in it ( bat guano, and earthworm castings).

I am almost a snob when it comes to organic, and FF is truly organic..i would agree 100% with jerry, i use their entire line...it is good shit..and i dont work for them either, but i have tried many organic nutes, and these seem to work the best for me.

Well I just left a post on Shovelhandels grow log that "I can't kill a plant I'll figure a way to get buds out of them". Well here is the proof.
These are clones I started when pruning my original grow and had to learn how to cloan. Well I had no where to put them so my veg box was sitting idial between grows I set the timer to 13/11 put them in 6x6x7 pots under a 400watt Mh then under the 600w HPS for the last 3 weeks. And walla looks like I will get 4 or more ounces of prime cola buds from the best of both my grows. Makes for great personal stash:) :)
Goes to show why I can't kill a plant:)

I am honored to make this my first post on this site. You are an sense of hope to all beginners of what can happen with a little know how, and trail and error.
Hope to see such results one day. Quick question I know you are using miracle grow moisture control soil which comes pre nuted at what point of the grow did you start using your fox farm nutes immediately or just in budding phase. Don't forget to let us know how the THC bomb and the Widow smoked.

Well time to answer the posted questions and say thanks for the comments.
It makes me very happy to see people are inspired by this log. There is a quote " You give a man a fish and feed him for a day or you can teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime" So it brings great pleasure to me when I know people are learing from this log and makes it worth the effort.
Dute12,
I start adding nutes around 2 weeks after sprouting from the soil. I start my sprouts in small 2x2x3 nursery starter pots grow in there untill roots show from the bottom 1.5 to 2 weeks then transplant to 2 gallon buckets and start LST and nutes then.
Dgsgandalf,
To be honest I have not grown AK47 yet so I can not give you an honest comparison. Can someone refresh my memory on the linage of the widow plant. I am going by memory while high but I am pretty sure it is a hybred of AK47 or kush with some Some South Amarican strain. That may explain the simularities.

Now that this part of the grow is over. I am going to scrub down the flower box and convert it to a veg box for my Summer outdoor grows:). This is a different log that I have started " Jerry Garcia's Sunsine Daydream Summer Grow 2008 " So you all can see me at work from the beginning again. Exept utilizing the sun for flowering phase. And "Sunshine Daydream" is not a strain name, and those not familiar with the Greatful Dead, it is a song name.
Good news is this grow log is far from compleat there are still 3 THCB plants to go and multiple smoke reports to do:)
Also thanks Hatch and Jamesia for checking in and the great compliments.
The thing is I can't believe I did this, I am just as amazed as you all are, and this is only my 2nd grow. I just wonder how far I can push the envolope on my next grow.
Hmmm lets do this. I am going to leave it up to you to tell me what is the largest yeild from 1 plant you have ever had or seen pics of, for both indoor and outdoor grows and I will see if I can beat it. That sounds like a great challenge for me to take on. What you all think?

04-18-2008, 12:06 AM
Jerry G, you seem to be a big fan of LST. I currently have an outdoor grow going on and i was thinking about topping the plants to get more buds. Do you think LST would work better or worse than topping? I've never grown outside before and i've never done either LST or topping, so this is a question from a newb. Any advice or explanation you could give me would be much appreciated!
Peace!
Jerry Garcia 2007
04-18-2008, 01:29 AM
Before I learned LST last fall I always topped my plants that grew outdoors and they grew to be Christmas trees, but I did loose a few due to they stuck out from the background. So this time around I figured I will try LST to help conceale them. An LSTed plant does not have the normal or expected look of an MJ plant from a distance and the untrained eye.

ok dude, the yeild on that widow, dang. i always thought the widow was a small yeilder?? is it really that great a smoke? i have some growing, though itll be a long while til i get to smoke 'em. i thought an ounce fer a widow'd be aight, but shit man!! could you put yer buds in order of bestest to not so bestest?? that ppp is for sale at a place i like for pretty cheap, and im wondering if its too good to be true, same for the thcb? so i take it yer a dead fan?? i hate to admit i havent spent enough time with 'em, listend to alot of the bluegrass, grateful dawgstuff, grisham/garcia, shit im toast, i looked for fox farms today, cuz you got the buds, and they dont have them around here, and did i hear correct, miracle grow??!! what do you think of botanicare? i use em and they are organic. my buds burn away to white ash, no black nasties.

Didn't want to say worst because there is no worst plant.
So this list is by buzz from plant.
#6 = mystery #3
#5 = w/w #4
#4 = w/w #6
#3 = PP #8
#2 = Blueberry #2
#1 = pp #15 I have come to the conclusion mystery #15 is another PP judging by the cloans in the extra cloan grow they are very similar to PP#8
Purple Power #15 basically is like doing a hit of NO2 except lasts longer, the stuff is mind numbing.
Got to go now I will go into more detail in another post and my goal this weekend to get the smoke reports out.
Jerry Garcia 2007
04-18-2008, 10:21 PM
Well I am definetly going to have to change that list:)
Damn I can't even F'in think on 3 hits. ok it is slightly a harsh hit " can't take a big one put it that way and while you struggle to keep the hit in you find yourself laying back with an overwhelming rush. 2 hits later your toast for about 1hr. Then you can concentrate long enough to write this.
I have to give this the #2 position right now. Reason being PP15 tastes better and doesn't make you want to cough as much, but buzz wize this WW is couch lock city :)

She is the smallest yeilder and plant of the 3, but produced very nice tight buds. As you can see she cannot support herself at all.
The second pic is a great example of the results of a properly done LST. See how the first branches formed into main cola producers, then get smaller and finally main top of the plant produces another massive cola.
Also got some great bud picks of her.

One quick question ----- What were your light schedules?
Jerry Garcia 2007
04-22-2008, 10:16 PM
I only use 2 different lighting times.
24/0 for veg and cloaning. Then 13/11 for flowering. I like the extra hour of light. It may or may not of made a difference, But it definitly didn't hert them.:)
I veg for 6 to 8 weeks. I do this by LST'ing until horizontal space is 80% full 5 to 7 weeks. Then let them grow vertical for a week, then I switch to 13/11.
