This question is to all people who believe in an after life. If after this life we go to a place that is better than here, a place that is perfect, why do you get so sad when some one close to you dies? It should be the happiest day of their life and you should be happy because they are going to see god. You know your gonna see them again too so its really like them leaving on a vacation earlier than you. Why is it so sad then? maybe because in the back of your mind you know its really the end?

for me, i only get sad because i'll miss them. when someone dies it actually brings a little smile to my face. sounds morbid, but its just their physical self thats dead. i know/hope they're having a great time kickin it in the beyond. besides you can still make contact so whats the big deal? :)

My grandmother recently passed away. She was the first person i'de ever known that has died. It made me think about death a lot more. I still don't know what to think, is there a heaven, hell, purgatory, are we in hell? Do we create our own hell? Do we create our own heaven? When someone dies, we immediatley think they're gone forever. The human body is just a vehicle for your 'soul'. We still don't know exactly what our 'soul' is. Maybe its someone else control over you. But i believe that whatever your 'soul' is, it exists forever.

I've always dealt with death just as buddha said. Happy when they die morbid as that sounds. Although when a friend passes on and I don't know if they were a believe or not that really hurts me. My friend Nino's is my example. Nino's was a Latin King from Chicago. He moved to Phoenix a few months after I did. I meet nino's while working at a gas station. It was freaken funny how we meet. I was out side smoking a bowl with a few friends when this guy in a Cadi pulls up. He get out and asks for a hit so I gave him the pipe. I could smell the beer on him and knew he was fucked up. By the gas pumps there were a few skater kids playing around. Nino's turns around to them then back to me and asks if he could run them off. Stoned as I was I said sure. He started yelling at them then chasing them with his car. It was funny. Anyways we became somewhat good friends until he stole $500.00 off of me. Even then I wrote him a letter saying if he needed the money all he had to do was ask and it would have been his. We didn't talk for two years after the letter. One day I was walking to my car with a joint in my ear. I sat down and sparked it up when Nino's walked in front of my car. I quickly jumped out which scared him thinking I cared about teh money he stole. I told him to chill I wasn't going to do anything to him. I asked if he got the letter I mailed him and he said yes. He just didn't believe I was for real. We sat down talking for a while (until the joint went out) and I told him I'm the way I am because of Jesus Christ. The topic got brought up because he said he's never meet someone like me before. I didn't get to talk to much more about Jesus with him cause we both had to leave but we left friends. Two weeks later his cousin called me another Latin King and told me Nino's got shot 19 times in the back because he stole something like a pound of meth from this rich fucker who if I see again faith out the window and his ass is is going in a mine shaft up north. Anyways. I never cried for my grandfathers, I never cried for a good friend in KY, I never cried when I lost a friend at age 9, I never cried when a mentor died in a ATV accident. Nino's I balled like a school girl. I knew I had a chance to help him out by sharing Jesus with him. What if we talked a little more about Jesus and he changed his life from stealing and thugish things to peace, forgiveness, tolerance. He would still be here I think. I fucked up because I wanted Mc D's. So when people of faith die I rejoice, but when someone of no faith passes I'm pissed off because I could have helped change the out come of where they end up.

Guilt the hardest thing to let go.

I don't get very sad when people I know die, doesn't really matter how close I was to them. I know that an individual is one mind out of over 6 billion, but they only die physically.

"Today young men on acid realize that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousnous experiencing itself subjectivetly. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves...heres tom with the weather." - Bill Hicks

mmmmmmm i like alex grey (gray? whatever)

To me death represents a release from the banality of living in this silly world. Flesh is merely a redundant sack of meat holding us down, so why should we not be glad to cast it off? When somebody i know dies im sad to say the feeling i get most is envy, i am not suicidal but ill be happy when im finally allowed to die and experience something new, regardless of what it may be. I want everyone i know to celebrate my death and consume me to enjoy the hallucinogenic properties of my toxic flesh! (remember to put a party hat on my corpse)

I've lost a lot of family members but, I don't know why, but it doesn't make me sad, somehow it just makes me feel nothing. Detached even. I think only the loss of one of my kids would ever make me feel overcome with grief. I think ppl get sad because like Euphoric said, they'll miss the person they lost, until they finally die. And it's sad when life gets cut short, yes, if you believe in an afterlife, the dead person's in a better place, but too soon. It seems unfair that some ppl lead full lives and others don't get the chance.

On another note, I made the decision to be cremated when I was 11 because I went to the funeral of our teenage next door neighbor and my mother made me touch his hand! I was absolutely terrified and can still feel his puffy cold dead hand. I never want anyone to parade around me while I lie dead in a box. No way.

Everything is a condensed vibration that is one conciousness expierencing itself subjectively..... this is actually kinda what i believe i guess it just makes sense a comedian was the first to put it into words i like.

Do you miss them?

Once some friends of mine were taking acid in Colorado, up in the hills above Colorado Springs. We realized that we were on Cheyenne Mountain, right above the "Hole In The Wall" where the NORAD missle command "button" is located. We got a little bummed and paranoid about that, then one of my buddies, a bit of a buddhist, asked us, "If you got hit by a nuke while you were on acid, would you notice the difference?" That sort of calmed us down. I haven't done the experiment to find out.

That is the purest and most depraved statement I've ever heard... Humanity's only tool of survival is its brain; a logic device. One capable of virtually unlimited thought and inventive power. To deny yourself this basic mode of survival, thinking, is to deny your own existance. And this is something I find quite repulisive. To feel instead of to think is to choose death over life.

I get sad when someone dies that i love because its normal for people to grieve that they have lost a loved one.I cry because i know i will never see them in the form of a person again or be able to have a conversation face to face with them or ask them things that i wished i did when they were alive.I do seances alot so if i feel sad about my grandma or whoever i can communicate with them.It actually works for me and i can ask all the questions i ever wanted to know.Sometimes you cannot communicate with people that have passed im not sure why but i can never communicate with my grandfather.I have had a few bad experiences too with doing that.I know that there is life after death (not physical) possibly apparitions.Definatley you can communicate with the dead if your spiritual energy is high enough and theywill tell you where they are

I think I'd prefer to die in my sleep like Jerry Garcia, only I want to be very, very old, not 53 like he was.

I've really been missing Jerry, lately, I guess maybe because it's close to the 10 year anniversary of his death.

who said death was bad? i mean, we all instinctively try and avoid death because its something we're programmed to do. But death may just be the long rest at the end of a life that so many people these days need....

I didnt mean people need to die, lol, I just mean alot of people need a rest, as in, our society is so stressful that most people walk around in a constant state of anxiety and stress. So maybe, in a way, death isnt so bad... I think I just worded it wrongly. :)
