I know there are some legit guys out there, that actually work during the day to support their family and do their thing on the side for extra money, but here recently and in todays society it seems like theres just a bunch of these shady dudes. That I dont feel comfortable smoking with or being around, that refer to themselves as "hustlas".

How can these guys possibly make a full time living off of greenery?

My guy grows his own and makes a living from it. It's his job as far as he's concerned - but he's shifting kilos at a time, so that'd be why. It's almost ALL profit for him. He's no "hustla" though, that just sounds like something little kids would call themselves to sound cool.

They've probably never even seen an oz.

Shady dealers make a living because there are always the dumb ones that keep going back as they have nowhere else to go. The stupid work with the stupid, and the smart work with the smart, and when they cross paths, worlds colide. :p

My main dealer doesn't have a family, or a wife/girlfriend. He lives on his own in a house on the outskirts of the city and all the money he gets, is all of his, and he is 100% legit. He does it because he is a good person, and he knows if he wants the bigger buyers to keep coming back, you treat them like you would want to be treated. When I hand him 10 $20's for a bag, I expect to get what I pay for.

There are smart dealers and dumb ones. Stay away from the dumb ones. :)

They do illegal crime what do you expect a suit and tie and a smile .

" Welcome to Costco I love you "

I certainly do. I expect a smile, abit of a chat, a cup of tea and my lovely weed.

Dealers might be doing it against the law, but they're providing a public service.

This may have to do with you not living in the US (LIP). Now i'm not saying everyone, but 90% of dealers i've met here in the states are pretty shady, real paranoid (rightfully so) sneaky type people. My last guy was the first cool one i've had in a while, he was having a birthday party for his daughter and he invited me in for food and cake, then he gave me my sacks :D. I don't know, I think it's possible that people are not very nice in the states :(.

I get the feeling shady dealers could be more prominent in the states... although you can understand a dealer not being incredibly friendly if its the first time he's dealt with you.

I've had to deal with several dealers in my area since I started toking, and most of them were a pain in the neck.

Luckily, my current dealer is awesome, not only does he provide me with quality weed, but he always gives me a 'bonus joint' that we smoke together, he's definitely a smart dealer.

I don't know about shady.. but scary yes.
A couple of weeks ago me and a friend were buying from a friend of our dealer. He made us drive down behind some apartment complex and when we pulled up there were like 5 of them standing around and he comes up to the window and shows us his crypt tats and tryed to jip us 2 grams worth... All I know is I'm not buying from him again.

I wouldnt say public service cos its a business but a valuable service.

Haha it may be so.

Do these guys live well? I mean I've seen guys that mess with yay and other stuff usually live a good life. And have lots of money IF they dont get caught up with trouble.

But the guy I know up in Arkansas, fairly large city (over 70,000) and there were under 10 guys that you went too. One of my friends that did it bought a brand new G6, and the prices up there were normally 70. oz / 40 half. / 25. quarter and he was charging 50 oz. / 30. half / and 15. a quarter and was cool about it. He delivered and all. And almost everyone in the whole city went to him.

Yep you can.

I agree to him/her you could be a cop its a whole trust thing. If you deal with someone for a long time it becomes like your visiting a friend.

I wouldnt be either.

Ive dealt with shady dealers before, its inevitable that dickheads will get involved after all its a illegal business where money can be made.

But sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get it.Ive being to houses where its filthy and all these wankers hanging around and kids running around etc etc but its worth it and you arent friends with them its a business transaction and thats it.

That is the attitude you *must* take if you have to deal with unsavoury characters to get your shit.

That's the difference between the hustla crowd and us old farts.

I DO expect that any time herb changes hands, there will also be certain formalities, like, "Won't you stay for a smoke and a cup of coffee?" My smoking peeps have known me since before I started smoking, and we are friends apart from the herb, and it's a nice way to ensure that there's no car left running on the lawn looking suspicious.

Us old farts know how to do it the right way! I see it as just plain manners. My dealer is also my friend. I invite him into mine when he's around, and he invites me into his.

If'n I'm picking something up, I expect to also-

-Roll on floor w/ your dog.
-Find out how your kids are doing.
-Enjoy a cup of coffee/tea.
-Raid yer fridge.
-Have a look at yer flowerbeds, if in season.
-Complain about fuel prices, the gov't, or whatever's going on.

Takes at least an hour.

Rule of thumb in my circle is that ya never even talk shop w/ anybody who doesn't have a mortgage, tho I'll make exceptions for folks who are renting so that they can keep their kids in a better school district.

Like I said, there are good dealers and bad ones. When I visit my dealer or he visits me, we always chill out for a while, smoke one and bullshit for awhile. They are providing a service I think. They make money from us, and if they want us to come back, then you provide the best service you can.

Last time I drank a case of beer with him and bought an ounce of weed that I completly forgot buying. :p We're friends and associates. :)

True words!
I went around to the antique and junk shops this weekend and picked up some cool vintage boxes for holiday gifts for all my peeps- stash boxes are cool. Especially when they are filled with nuggets! I even found a wicked awesome ceramic cigar-store indian cigar lighter- it works, too- for my buddy who is a ciagr nut, and a vintage barometer for my friend's cousin who is a meteorology buff, and a vintage aluminum cigarette-roller.I might keep that one!
Gotta remember to keep emphasizing the friends part. THAT'S the primary relationship.

Smoking weed is not a "Public Service"

Dealers deal. :)

I can see how providing a known and effective medicine to your community is a service to the public.

Good posts stinkyattic. Do you know anyone who just messes with green full time? I didnt think there was that much money it just well "green". I have a buddy who just messes with green and drives a brand new car (2007) and has his own place, and thats all he messes with. But he is more the type that controlls the whole city nearly. There are some smaller guys but most of them get their stuff from him. But he is the "go to" guy where everyone in the city knows and calls. He's been caught a few times, but you can expect that when doing it full time. He lives well, but he's always changing his phone number, driving a differnt car, and acting "shady" like if you call him he'll be like meet me here, get there, and he will be across the street and call you back and be like meet me across the street at so and so..

There's ALOT of money to be made with weed - it just depends how much weed is getting shifted. If your playing around with an ounce or two you arnt going to make any real profit, but when your growing your own for less than a £1 an ounce and selling by the kilo [36 ounces] your OBVIOUSLY going to rake in lots of hard currency - it's then laundering the money so it doesnt look dodgy - THATS the harder part. If you want to make a living from it - you HAVE to go bigtime.
